Realized at 2:30 my sticker on my license plate was from last month, by 2:45 saw on the DMV site I couldn't just pay fees (needed smog) so about 2:50 was looking around for a quick smog, and rang Quik Smog. Answered after a few rings, said yes, they had same day appointments available, pick any time, I picked 4:00 PM and rolled up at 4:00 on the dot. I hate anything to do with my car. So if a place is good, I just go there, again and again, so I don't have to think about it. Having just moved to Novato a few months ago, I hate having to find my new go-to places, so I try to do my research for a good place, so I don't have to find another one in the future. Yesterday, I tried to go somewhere else with slightly better reviews, but after waiting in line for 15 minutes, the DMV state wide server was down, so all smog checks were halted. I tried to go back there again today, and the same cars were there in line. One got all competitive with me as I drove up, afraid I would take her spot. (Even though I wasn't going to). Witnessing this, I thought: I don't need competition in my life just to get a smog check! So I drove off.... and instead went to Quik Smog. Where the name describes the experience. There was no one in line, and the guy came and explained everything. I waited in their waiting room, paid and left. This is the way you'd like your Smog check experience to be. I don't need to compete with other people for a Smog check. Nothing against the other Smog Check place.... but really, you just want to get in and get out. It's just a Smog Check for god's sake! All this to say - if you need a Smog Check, this is a perfectly fine place to go. The guy was nice. 10 Minutes and you're out. I like that. This will most definitely be my go-to in town. read more

Mark answered the phone with a super friendly attitude, got me in the same day, only charged $55 for my SUV, and I got a senior discount on top of that!! I was in and out in 15 minutes and Mark was the nicest, most efficient guy. For those of you who don't like waiting, Quick Smog in Novato is directly across the street from Starbucks and Trader Joe's, but the waiting room is pretty chill and super clean so I didn't mind waiting on site. Had to get my bi-annual CA Star smog-check done, called around town, and decided to try a different place, based on a somewhat lower check-and-certificate cost. One of the best decisions I've made lately! Marcus (Mark) got me scheduled on the phone; I went in; he explained the exact process and confirmed the cost and time needed (without my having to ask a bunch of questions); and finished up in 15 or so minutes. The shop and waiting area were super-clean, and the waiting area has a collection of cool stuff to walk around and check out. Mark and I even got to discussing those things as we reviewed the work performed and I paid the exact cost he quoted, no hassle, haggling, BS. Solid, honest, transparent, thorough, concise, personable, on-time, on-quote service. Highly recommend this shop -- run and staffed by people who absolutely, truly put the Customer First! I called 5 different smog stations between San Rafael and Novato for price quotes - not only is Mark's fee among the lowest around, but he's the only one who offered "No Pass, No Pay". I called on that Friday and spoke with a very nice person, Marc, to get a price quote and an appointment time. I was fortunate I was able to set up an appointment to see him that same day and within the hour. Upon arrival, he again confirmed the price quoted over the phone and also told me that he would match any price that was lower in Novato. Marc was nice and gracious, I didn't even bother looking around. As important, he treated my car with with real care and the smog check price was great.
