Sorry to say... I love Chick-fil-A It's been one of my go…read moreto fast food restaurants since it's come to Kansas City and this location near Oak Park mall is always on point. The employees are as kind as ever and even when it looks crowded the inside lines move fast (I can't speak on the drive through). I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to receive my order and the food is always fresh. I also love that chick-fil-A has been banging out the limited release sandwiches recently, it's a nice switch up from a classic spicy chicken sandwich or cool wrap (my usual orders on the regular menu) Most recently my mom and I went in to try the jalapeno ranch chicken sandwich and we both enjoyed it but, be sure you ask for sauce packets because it doesn't come with the sauce already on the sandwich you have to dress it yourself. They also now have waffle chips (these debuted when the pretzel cheddar club sandwich was the limited release) it's nice to have a side option that's easier to take home with you if you don't want to eat it right then and there. The chick-fil-A sauce flavored ones don't necessarily match the taste of the epic chick-fil-A sauce in liquid form but, they do have tangy notes of bbq and a slight taste of honey mustard. It's unique to have a fast food restaurant put out a version of bagged chips! But, the best thing about Chick-fil-A will always be the sauce (and the quality of chicken) there are so many fun sauces to choose from, the OG chick-fil-A sauce is a must, the sriracha one is always something I order but, a tried and true combo is combining the buffalo with honey packets, little known about is their honey roasted barbecue but it's delicious!

We brought our grandkids to this location for lunch and to play on the play place indoors. The…read moreservice was nice from all the workers that we interacted with. Our food came out quickly and my grandkids loved their chicken nuggets, they weren't thrilled with the waffle fries but because they are use to regular fries. I have celiac so I had their grilled chicken bacon cheese sandwich on a gluten free bun and waffle fries and unsweetened ice tea. The sandwich was fine but the bun was gritty. The fries were great as well as the dipping sauces. My husband's chicken tenders and sandwich was very good he said. The play place was smaller but the kids liked it. The trash needed to be emptied in the women's bathroom but other wise the restaurant was clean. It was quiet for the amount of traffic.

Came later on in the day, pretty near closing time. I was shopping around the mall and was feeling…read morea little peckish and remembered that I had a Panda Express birthday reward burning a whole in my virtual wallet. I hurried my booty to the food court and quickly decided upon the small entree option (free) with a side of vegetable spring rolls (not free). There was no line so, service went quickly and my choice of entree was scooped up in no time. The newest offering was the firecracker shrimp and steak, naturally I ordered that. I was surprised that at the end of the day the shrimp wasn't completely gross, it instead was a little overcooked sure but, springy and seemed relatively fresh. The steak could have been more plentiful, I had a lot more shrimp than chicken. Also, the firecracker sauce could be spicier but, I understand that not everyone likes to scorch their palette. I just think with rice this meal would be rather bland but, then again I didn't order rice so...it was decently flavorful. The spring rolls reminded me of high school trips to the mall and being on a tight budget, they really don't have much filling or taste except for texture- they're uber crispy and that is fun for me. Drown them in sweet and sour sauce or hot mustard/duck sauce and it's a low calorie nostalgic treat.

Since relocating to the Mid-West FPO and I have encountered several gastronomical challenges in our…read moreculinary adventures. One of the main ones being we can't find good, authentic Chinese food. Well, maybe that's not entirely fair. I doubt anywhere in this country has "authentic" Chinese food because everywhere you go, the food is going to be influenced by the region. Chinese food in Hawaii is very different from Chinese food on the West Coast, the East Coast, and it's verrry different from Chinese food in the Mid-West. Panda Express is Americanized, fast food Chinese and it looks like it might be the closest to what we're used to. But, as we learned the other day, even Panda's is different. I'm sure their recipes must be the same because they're either corporate stores or franchises but I think because their sources are different, even with this we found it's different. I ordered a plate with the noodles, teriyaki chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything tasted different. The noodles were more bland and more oily. The chicken was probably the best thing on the plate. It reminded me more of teri chicken in Hawaii. The shrimp was smaller and had a fishy taste to it. At first I was worried I would get food poisoning but after a few hours and I was still fine, I decided it must just be the restaurants here are getting their ingredients from a different source. I can't say I really enjoyed this first Panda experience but I learned from it. Next time I'll go with either the greens or the fried rice and avoid the shrimp entirely. There will be a next time ... eventually. This really is the closest thing I've found so far to the Chinese food in Hawaii. I must be getting homesick.
