The owner, Jim, is so professional, friendly and generous. He does so much for the community and…read morerecently was involved in sending people to teach sewing to underserved people of Belize. The fabrics he has are beautiful, the service to repair machines is efficient and thorough and it's the place to go if you are in the market for a machine. They have classes which are great, too, especially those taught by Monica and Sally! Love this store and you will, too!

They have very large selection of fabric and many, many accessories. They sell sewing machines, they sell sewing tables and assorted furniture. It is owned by a husband and wife. I always seem to deal with Jim and he truly is one of the kindest, and giving men I have ever met. They always run various specials and they have a wonderful deal where you buy this box that has all kinds of samples of notions etc, there is also some kind of voucher in the box where you get a free yard of material every month. Along with that special if you buy a machine you then get 20% off for the next I don't know how many years. They have terrific values in their clearance section too. The clearance section is always changing so keep watching it!

Material Girl was my favorite fabric store. I could always find what I wanted! Sadly, Material…read moreGirl is now closed. I have not found a quilt shop that even comes close to the wide variety of fabrics and the excellent quality of the fabrics at this former shop.

It made me ask if there was a change in management and was pleasantly surprised to hear, "yes!" I didn't have any idea how quickly someone could turn a business around from a place I really didn't care for but had limited options for an alternative to a place I ENJOY going to. Communication- you now actually get responses to questions via email within a day! Store- new owner actually took feedback from her customers and re-arranged the store. Now if you take a class, you are not shoved into what I would call a storage room. Classes are now in an area of the store, but doesn't interfere with those shopping. Customer Service- Absolutely amazing! Some previous staff still work there and I could tell how much happier they are at their jobs now. This seems to have translated to overall better customer service. Classes- I'm happy to see more "non-quilting" classes and the prices remain reasonable. You now also get class reminders and list of materials needed, in a reasonable amount of time before your class date. Kudos to the new team at Material Girl! I'll be signing up for more classes throughout the year and buying more fabric.

This is definitely the best "paint your own pottery" spot I've ever been to. Several weeks ago I…read morewas in the midst of a 'self-care day' driving past the strip mall where this is and I decided to stop on a whim. I painted a large cappuccino mug, which cost less than $18 for the piece and to paint/kiln-fire. I really appreciate that there is no limit to the paints you use and the station is set up to help yourself. Joe's instructions were clear and he was quick about switching out water and asking if any help was needed. Several years ago, I had my bridal shower here and it was an awesome experience - we got to all do an activity together, and all the pieces were my "gifts" for stocking up a kitchen with my hubs. The staff were very accommodating - we got to bring in our own food and drinks - and the space was perfect. I stopped in another similar paint-your-own spot this past weekend and was surprised at how much higher their prices were AND that there was a limit to paint and colors. Though I live in Milwaukee, I'll happily head out to Waukesha to Touch of Glaze to make a gift or a new piece for my own home.

This review is based on the birthday party we had here for our daughter. We reserved a party here…read moreand overall it was nice. They gave us the option to have a bowl or plate for the party. We reserved and paid for the 11 girls and they had a large table in back to separate us from the rest of the people. They had an instructor to guide and give advice to the girls and provided all the paints. Since we had 10 or more at this party, we had the option to have a percentage taken off the bill or a birthday plate (all attendees signed the plate). We optioned for the plate. I thought it was very reasonable ($10 per person) for this party. We were able to bring in our own food as well. The party was for two hours and we found this was just barely enough time to do the bowls, eat some food and then we decided to open presents at our house. Nice staff and accommodating, but we wish there was a bit better communication on what time to arrive and perhaps just 30 minutes more for the party. I don't know if that is an option to extend the party. I can say, the girls really enjoyed their time there and it was relaxing for the parents. Overall, I'd recommend, and we will probably come back to do this with our kids for something to do.
