Sometime in November I went to Quinn's jeweler to have a ring sized. I wanted it bigger. I'll admit I was really busy, planning two parties back to back and I did not pay attention to the invoice. In fact, I missed placed it. I got one voicemail message from Quinn that my ring was ready. Only one. So, in January, I remembered and went to get it. It was too small. The jeweler tried to convince me that it was not. I could not get the ring on. Finally he said he will resize it again. He said it would be five minutes and proceeded to do the work. All I heard was banging. He was stretching the ring. He did not do it the proper way. For the price I paid, $128.79, he should have cut it, and added gold to it. This was the process the jeweler around the corner explained her process, so I left a 2nd ring with her that same day, that I had intended to leave with Quinn's. Quinn's is overpriced, with a horrible selection. Their staff knowledge is questionable. Just had a ring appraised by a jeweler in Massachusetts and I'm furious. The ring was designed a few years ago by Reza using my 4 diamonds and Quinn's added .50 point diamond. The .50 point Quinn's diamond under Quinn's lights and cleaned to perfection looked passable. Out in the real world, Quinn's Diamond compared to the other 4 diamonds I provided looked a little off with a cloudy appearance. But Reza is so nice, he'd never sell me a poor quality diamond. Famous last words. I brought this up a few times when visiting the store, giving them additional business, telling Reza I wanted to replace the diamond due to the cloudy look compared to the other 4 diamonds. Reza as usual talked me out of it claiming it was my imagination, the diamond was a good diamond. Turns out it was a poor quality stone as I suspected. I feel duped. Oh wait, I was duped. I am in the process of replacing the diamond with a better rating. Lesson learned. read more

My husband purchased a ring for our 30th anniversary back in 2020. It is beautiful and Terry went above and beyond to make sure that the ring was right. I unfortunately lost a diamond in my ring recently but when I presented it to be fixed, since I had just had it cleaned and checked a few weeks earlier Terry is replacing it for me at no cost. I had no idea about the gold industry. I had purchased 20 inch chains for my husband and I when we got married about five years ago. My chain finally broke the other day and I panicked. I have been to Quinn's near Wegman's in Stonebridge. They are nice and the store is attractive. I have no idea of the quality of their work, nor will I ever. They harass me by telephone. I gave them my information so they could call me with a quote on some custom jewelry. I wasn't interested after they told me the price. However, they have continued to call. Then they somehow got my wife's cell number and started calling her. What really made me mad was that the custom jewelry was supposed to be a surprise. Luckily I had alreday given her the ring I got from another store so the surprise wasn't ruined. But it could have been. For almost a year now they have continued to call me. They call 1-3 times a month on one of our phones. They leave messages even more frequently. I'm not saying don't use them, because I can't speak to the quality of their work. Had a great experience getting my grandmother's old pearl necklace restrung for my wife. They patiently explained everything to a jewelry novice like me and charged a lot less than I had heard in prior years from other places (some of whom tried to sell me a freshwater pearl necklace because it would be cheaper than what they charge to restring). The Quinn folks clearly took the time to clean the pearls and string them well, charged a fair price, and got it done in a more than reasonable amount of time. They came out almost looking like new, but without losing the classic characteristics that will remind us of my grandmother every time my wife wears them. I had a wonderful experience at Quinn's. My wedding and engagement ring had to be cut off after I was stung by a wasp on my finger. The ER didn't just cut them off, they were mangled. My finger is intact so I am okay with it. I brought my rings to Quinn's knowing they were in bad shape. They not only fixed them they look brand new. I've worn a ring for 28 years and had to get it resized. I had taken it to another jeweler who stretched the gold up the one size instead of adding in gold. The once-thick band was now thin as a knife blade. I pointed out that the gold was very thin and was apparently stretched. I was told they didn't do that. Recently brought in a ring for resizing. The NY jeweler marketed the ring as it "looks like it was custom made for a singer or an actor or even the Queen or King of England. This ring looks so regal it looks like it belongs in a museum." The NY jeweler threatened to keep the ring for himself stating "you just don't see these rings everyday now." Well, I got it. But..... you could barely see the 24 diamonds surrounding the large center stone. I was shocked when I came to get the resized ring from Quinn's in that not only could you see the surrounding 24 diamonds but they sparkled like crazy. WOW! I have a sterling silver teaspoon that got caught in the garbage disposal. Went to Quinn's to see if they had the name of a silversmith who could repair it. Well, the repair manager, Reza, didn't have a name, but took the spoon into his repair area and started to work on it. After about 5 minutes, he comes out and the spoon is almost as good as new!! (I say it looks like it has a history behind it! ) Couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend this business for all your jewelry needs and repairs. Very nice folks there! read more

I recently had four rings resized to be smaller and one of them also had new tips (prongs) restored. The cost for this was approximately $270.00 (which I thought was high). But I left my rings there for approximately six days and received a phone call, telling me they were finished and ready to be picked up. I picked them up the next day and wore them home. After looking at them for a couple of days, I decided they had made the shank (the part between the ring and the crown) way too thin and not as thick as they originally were. I called Quinn's and asked for someone in charge and was directed to the assistant manager- who assured me she would be in the store when I could get there in about three or four hours. After four phone calls asking if she was there, I finally learned she would be in about 4:00 pm. I made sure I was there a few minutes early. She looked at three of my rings (the fourth one had a nice wide shank), and she agreed the shanks were too thin and they would fix them. Now, I had already paid $270.00 to start with to make them smaller. I am presuming they cut the bottom of the shank in two places which I thought would give them enough gold to make the rings smaller. I don't know what they did with the left over gold from two rings and the platinum from one ring - but I didn't get it. BUT - the big shock came when she told me the cost for making the shanks thicker would be $1,232.00 - but they would discount about $250.00, making me then owe them about $1,000.00 for repairing the resizing they had just finished!! This also included some minor repair on my platinum ring. I do not understand how they could charge me $1,000.00 to repair their original resizing. If they had done the job correctly the first time, I wouldn't have had to go back to the store and complain. I told the assistant manager to just give me my rings back and I would go someplace else. Needless to say, I won't go back to Quinn's. I am very disgusted with the way they do business. read more

I haven't purchased jewelry here (yet) but did take in my wedding band that belonged to my grandmother and my engagement ring to be sized. Although the wedding band wasn't worth much (but very high sentimental value to me considering it was my grandmothers) I was a little worried about dropping it off. I was also making it bigger which isn't always doable without changing the integrity of the ring. The staff was friendly and very patient. They made it as big as they could without actually changing the ring and the engagement ring was sized and ready within a few days. Both were returned to me looking brand new! No small feat considering the band was over 60 years old. They had some beautiful pieces in their store and based on my experience with their repair services, when I am in the market for diamonds it will certainly be the first place I stop. read more

I am very disappointed wIth Quinn's Goldsmith. I purchased a beautiful 18K white gold with pink tourmaline and diamonds pendant from them in 2011. They said it retailed for $2195. Now I need money to pay for my dogs surgery so I went to sell it back since they say they buy estate pieces (that's what I bought from them). They told me they don't buy colored stones. What?? After 6 years of my wedding ring (and engagement ring) on my finger and I could not take it off for anything - I went to Quinn's. They were so wonderful. They tried other methods to get my rings off - but I knew it would be to no avail (I had gone there to have them cut off). The fact they tried - it was a wow moment - I knew I was in good hands! Highly disappointed! I went in to sell some jewelry that had been collecting dust and got an appraisal. It had been almost a decade since I bought this gold necklace that I remembered being 18k but wasn't completely sure. After testing the gold and seeing the inscription the jeweler came back and told me it was 14k and gave me a quote. Taking it to another jeweler to get a second opinion they assured me it was indeed 18k like i remembered and gave me a very decent offer. They couldn't believe that Quinns had told me it was a cheaper grade given that the stamp on the side, although worn, stated that it was 18k. Very upset at this negligence whether intentional or not! My wife's wedding ring was unfortunately ran over by a car (very long story, but grateful her ring was found and turned in by a nice patron), so I had visited several jewelry shops in the Woodbridge area considering the jeweler where I bought her ring 8+ years ago has since closed. All of the jewelers stated the head of the ring needed to be replaced and the average estimate was around $500-600. My fear and trust was restored when I was blessed to talk with the owner Terry, who was extremely nice, knowledgeable, and walked me through all my options. Terry is the only jeweler who stated that he could repair the current head on my wife's ring for a minimal cost and the ring would look just as it was before it was ran over, if not better. His honestly and affirmation made me have trust in him. He was honest and up front from the beginning. He also gave me the option to replace the head, as the current one was not designed the way it should of been. After he explained to me in detail and example drawings, I went with his recommendation and replaced the head It is a heartfelt blessing to find someone in the jewelry industry so honest and caring. Wish I could give 0 stars. This was literally the WORST experience I have ever had with a jeweler. I brought my husband's grandmother's ring in to replace a stone that had fallen out. They had the ring for almost 4 months, and tried three times to replace it to no avail, leaving me with damaged prongs on the ring, a wasted 4 months, and feeling like I've been swindled. The first replacement was comical - literally half the size of the other stones. The second replacement was almost pure white in color (the rest are blue), prompting the salesman to say "oh this cannot be right. I have no idea what the jeweler was thinking". Additionally, I felt like I was being taken advantage of or that maybe I was being stolen from... Because they moved the rest of the stones in the ring around without my consent. I could tell because they tried to "hide" the mismatched replacement stone by putting it I another position. The manager, while using a polite tone, was incredibly rude and implied that the ring was of poor quality and that I was completely out of line to ask them to do the job right. Finally, I understand that the owner of the store lost a family member recently, which is awful and we are very sorry for... But I was told this fact multiple multiple times by people who worked here... As though implying that asking for good customer service or quality is rude. I'm sorry for your loss, but it is incredibly unprofessional and frankly rude to put the onus of quality control on the customer and then punish them for it. Lastly, while I was refunded, (this job only cost $80, btw... I am more incensed about my time lost and the frustration in dealing with them), the manager grabbed the ring and had the jeweler pop the mismatched stone out before refunding me. In my book the classy thing to do would have been to just leave it and refund me... But maybe I'm just used to a good customer care experience. I'm going to do what I should have done originally and take it to Ascot Diamonds in Arlington - a trusted place that made my wedding set. I'm also going to have them ensure that they didn't steal the diamonds and aquamarines from my ring and replace them with glass... Frankly it wouldn't shock me from a fly by night operation like this. DO NOT GO HERE. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. read more
