8.5/10 I brought in two rings which were missing stones from their set place. One ring (pink) had the stone with it, but I told them that I wasn't sure if it was fractured or simply fell out. The other ring, a gold-plated indian head, with garnet eyes and Cz headband stones, had a missing stone on only one side - the ring was given to me with that stone completely missing when I purchased it from another business. I told myself that one day when it bothered me enough I would take it in and get it repaired. They said the price for repair to both would be $45, and I was fine with that. 2 days later I got the call to come pick them up. I was decently happy with the work performed, but they did have a few nit-pick issues with the work. The stones on the pink ring were blended in seamlessly and I couldn't tell which side had been replaced vs which side was original. My concern with the repairs made, and why my rating is like it is, comes down to the indian head ring. The stones were both replaced, and in doing the replacement they were not size-matched well to what should have been set into the piece. They seem almost too big, and like they weren't set in straight, or at least had the edges rounded down to fit the piece. One is turned outward so much that the edge of the stone is easy to catch on things, and the corner is visible. It might just be something that I notice, but for me it will be something that draws my attention every time I see it. Additionally, at no point was it offered to repair the finish on the ring to make it look better. I would have loved to have had it fully restored, and after these repairs were made you can REALLY see that it needs it, in the areas that were effected. I always take photos of before and after, for insurance purposes, and have provided those here for all to see, as a true no-BS glimpse into the quality of work provided - both the good and not-so-good. Would I say that I was pleased with my visit to Naranjo Jewelers? So-so. They did great work on one ring, and then not poor, but sub-par work on the other ring. They didn't do a bad job, but they didn't do a perfect or amazing job, as expected. I called today because I got a hefty quote on a watch repair from another shop, and the owner and his daughter told me that they had a watchmaker that comes in a few times a week. They gave me an honest quote that was 1/3 less than what the other place quoted me. I am so glad I decided to call Naranjo after getting this ridiculous quote. About a month ago, I realized the diamond fell out of my wedding band :( I have no idea when/where this happened! I searched for it, and to terms with the fact that it was gone. I recently moved to the area, and searched for a local, small jeweler and discovered Naranjo Jewelers. I am so happy that I found them! Luis is a master of goldsmithing in my opinion, and he's even won an award for his talent. I brought my diamondless band in and he helped me pick out a new diamond. In less than two hours he called to tell me it was ready! I went to pick it up, and the band he handed me looked like a completely new piece of jewelry, and was more dazzling than the day we bought the set new! Naranjo Jewelers is amazing. I have gone to many jewelers in the past and Naranjo Jewelers is by far the best! It is a family business and they are all so nice and caring. I had several pieces of jewelry repaired and the price was very good. I also had some old estate earrings which they suggested be made into simple studs. Wow... they turned out beautiful! I came here over the weekend after reading the reviews here. I am so glad I did! I love family-owned businesses and they were great to work with. I lost a rectangular center stone for a favorite ring and needed the ring setting changed to accommodate a square aquamarine instead of a rectangle. I gave them the stone I already had to replace it and they did it, while I waited, and only charged me $25. They also cleaned the stones, and it looked better than I'd ever seen it! More importantly, they were great with my 4-year-old autistic son. They had toys for him to play with and were much more 'grandparently' than "get your kid in check!" When I casually asked about sapphire rings, the gentleman showed me a variety of price points and styles instead of heading for the most expensive piece first. This jeweler is okay with prices for repairs as they are reasonable, but he doesn't take the time to polish as I noticed the color of the gold is off after his soldering job. However, I gave this jeweler the benefit of doubt and came back but there was no change in the quality of work/service. In addition to this, a major problem I had was with putting together a pair of earrings. After drawing a picture of how I wanted the earrings and spending a good amount of time explaining what I wanted and the jeweler said he would do it the way I wanted, he decided to put together the earrings the way he wanted to do it. The final result was not what we had agreed on. I was extremely disappointed when I came back to pick them up and he and his daughter said he put them together that way because he thought it looked better. Really? I'm not paying you for your taste in jewelry. I'm paying you to put the earrings together based on MY taste, not yours or anyone else's. After asking why he didn't do it the way that I wanted and the way it was drawn out in the picture, his response gave me the impression, after he made the comment in a frustrating manner, that he didn't want to have to remove the stones from the setting. Mind you, these stones were already in a setting that were bezel-looking settings that had push down prong underneath (not a big deal since the gold was relatively thick). My complaint and why I will not deal with this jeweler again is that when you agree to do a custom or semi-custom design that the customer wants who has taken the time to make sure the jeweler understands (i.e., drawings, pictures, etc.), then do it that way and not the way you want to do it. Don't take short cuts and just worry about getting the money from the customer. read more

Thomas H. Wilson I have been to Naranjo Jewelers near the Harris Teeter store near the corner of Prince William Parkway and Hoadly Road. A few months ago, I had a hand-built watch that broke. I went to a well-known watch repair store in Fairfax. They couldn't fix it and said they didn't think it could be fixed. I tried Naranjo Jewelers and it was repaired quickly and now works perfectly. And the repair fee was very reasonable. The customer service from store manager Juana Slaughter is outstanding. And they have a beautiful selection of rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and watches. I just stopped by there today, May 29, 2020 and it is open so I dropped off 12 of my watches for battery replacement and sizing.
