It was a little hard to find this place at first but we Came here twice during our trip for good celiac safe food and we were definitely delighted by their unique and delicious menu. The house chianti is very nice, the spring rolls come with a delicious peanut sauce that is addictive, and the boar ragu pasta is just perfection. Plus the service is great and they have a large plaza where you can sit and eat (but its not in the sun). They even had gluten free bread for my husband! My husband definitely recommends the steak and the caprese salad. It's a great little restaurant (with great prices!!) that's worth going to. read more

I had the most disappointing dinner experience. It was a Tuesday night in June, and there was only 1 server and 1 assistant working the vast dining area. I knew we would be waiting for a while, but I didn't think a simple stir fried veggies and a burger would take almost 2 hours to be served. What baffled me is that even though the waitresses were clearly overwhelmed, they continued to seat more guests as they came. Many got up and left after waiting forever for menus and water. The manager eventually came, but he didn't bother to check up on guests at all. If I were him, I'd offer everyone a complimentary snack or a glass of wine for being incredibly patient. As for the food, the appetizer of gazpacho and fried zucchini flowers were delicious. But after waiting over an hour for the vegetable stir fry, I was served the most disgusting overcooked mush flavored with Thai sweet and sour sauce. It was inedible. I already paid my bill, so I ate what I can and left immediately. I left the waitresses a tip, since it wasn't their fault that the restaurant was understaffed. I absolutely understand the popularity of this place. The food is delicious and the garden is so nice to sit in. A little charming escape from the hustle and bustle of Florence. I was sat in the back because I didn't have a reservation. That's fine. But then it took 40 minutes to even get water. Less fine. Another 30 to order. Finally I just ate and paid without making it to dessert. I tried for a good 20+ minutes to track someone dollen to order coffee and dessert but no dice. The gnocchi were wonderfully potatoey and had a pleasant bite to them. The flavor profile of thyme and rosemary was refreshing in an area where you normally just get the option of a basic pomodoro. The zucchini soufflé could have used some more flavor. The whole experience was underwhelming considering how hyped up this place is in gluten free and veggie circles. I will probably return and try for a better experience next time I'm in Florence because I can't imagine how gorgeous the terrace must be at night. I'm think I caught them on a bad day. read more

You must go!!! Stumbled upon this place near our hotel in center city Florence. The name and unique menu caught our eye. It's a gluten free and vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurant with a lovely ambiance. Our server, Illy, made us feel welcome, gave his honest opinion on the menu, and took the time to explain everything to us. Not to mention, he was very personable. The food was even better than the service - we got the pad Thai, vegan burger, lentil patties, and Sefardita for dessert, all of which were recommended by Illy. Each bite was better than the next! I loved Quinoa! It's a little hard to find, but totally worth the search. The restaurant itself is adorable, nestled in a courtyard with twinkly lights and beautiful plants. It felt like it was straight out of a movie. The food was phenomenal. The whole menu is gluten free, and many items are dairy free as well. It has a variety of items, some Italian and some ranging to Asian Fusion. I got the truffle bruscetta which I LOVED and the gluten free ravioli. The ravioli was the ultimate comfort food and, as someone who has been gluten free for 10+ years, was the first amazing GF ravioli I have come across. There is also a fabulous wine selection and many gluten free beers to try. The waitstaff is also really fun and helpful regarding all dietary restrictions. You may find yourself wondering, "Why the hell would I want to eat at a restaurant named Quinoa in ITALY? I've had enough of that in America." This may be true (and quinoa is almost always the vegan entree in non vegan restaurants so you can imagine how sick of the super grain I am) but get past any misgivings you may have. This isn't a California-inspired crunchy granola bore fest as the name might imply. Instead it's a delightful gluten-free find with a fair amount of vegetarian and vegan entrees where you can also get some tasty Asian-inspired food say, if you're getting a little tired of Italy's gastro delights (never!) We liked it so much that we dined here twice for lunch (well, more like breakfast since I never wake up in time for breakfast) where the bright and cheery dining room filled with natural light and greenery everywhere was a fine way to start the day! If you dine inside, it's like eating on a patio as the large windows afford views of the pretty courtyard. Our waiter both times at lunch reminded me of a young Roberto Benigni and who doesn't adore Roberto Benigni? He was extremely nice and helpful with the menu, pointing out that everyone's favorite is the Pad Thai, so of course my friend ordered that, while I opted to try the vegan burger. I'll be honest and say that I didn't love my burger as it was super dry, and with the patty being so huge, it was a bit of a cumbersome ordeal. It wasn't terrible, just reminded me of how veggie burgers used to be back in the day. I tasted the Pad Thai, which is quite delicious (and vegan) so Roberto was right. That said, don't expect it to taste like the Pad Thai you're used to as it's more of a tamari base (no soy sauce here, remember, it's GF!) rather than sweet peanut sauce, although there are bits of peanuts mixed in. I think I prefer it to typical Pad Thai because that's normally such a heavy dish (and typically has egg too). My second lunch here was a win! I had a tofu stir fry over jasmine rice. Easily the best Asian food I've ever had in Italy. I ate every bit of it. Again, it's not like it has Thai flavoring, but who cares? It's more reminiscent of chow mein. Lest one think this is more of a place to enjoy in the daytime, let me assure you that dinnertime is also quite lovely (yes, we returned a third time)! There are heaters on the patio and it's beautiful to dine outside in the candlelight if the weather allows. We ordered spring rolls to share (that I wanted all to myself they are so good!) and I had a divine vegan GF ravioli. I never knew GF pasta could actually have the right texture. For dessert, I couldn't resist a decadent chocolate/pear cake. Finally, if, like me, you need your non dairy cappuccino fix, start your day at Quinoa! We're talking perfection, with just the right ratio of foam to steamed milk to espresso. You'll leave damning Starbucks forever. We went here on our first night in Florence and were honestly sad that we didn't have the time to go again. I would honestly go here even if I wasn't gluten-free...everything was so delicious. Besides the fact that I could automatically eat everything and it was all delicious, the service made me want to cry happy tears. We brought our toddler with us and were nervous about her behavior, but the staff (almost literally) rolled out the red carpet for her, gave her markers and things to draw on, and also gave her a princess tiara. A new place in the renovated ZAP area of Casa della Creativita, I decided to try this place out with a few girlfriends this past week. Beautifully decorated, this place looks right out of Vogue, with nice tables, a large outdoor space and a general peaceful ambiance which is a nice getaway from it's very central location in Florence. The menu is quite small which is normally the mark of a great restaurant, I would have liked to perhaps see a FEW more options but that's ok because the food is really good. I got salmon and zucchini, more for health reasons than anything, it wasn't the most amazing plate of pasta I have ever had but the salmon was fresh and it was good. My friends plates, especially the sformatino of vegetables looking really superb, as did the greek salad and especially the friend mozzarella. They also have a decent wine selection, I was surprised and delighted to see one of my favorite vermentino's from rocca di montemassi maremma on the menu. though there were few people the friday afternoon we were there, it could just be because the word isn't out yet about the place. I highly recommend making this a lunchtime destination, the outdoor space makes it super amazing in the summer and the place really is beautiful! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant with a very pretty outdoor courtyard with friendly, although very busy staff. The food is NOT GLUTEN FREE. I am a celiac and although asked a total of three times (once before ordering, once during eating as I felt I may become ill, and again after the waitress convinced me to have desert.) If you are a celiac are gluten intolerant there are other restaurants you can easily eat at without an issue. My Pad Thai lacked the vegetables it was said on the menus to come with, although tasty was more like a plate of pasta with Asian seasoning, my desert tasted sandy. However, I went to the brunch this Sunday and it did not live up to expectations. It is from 12:30-3:30 on Sunday's only and maybe its because we got there at late ish (around 2), but the brunch was subpar. It cost 25 euro and we left less than satisfied. I was really excited because the pictures made the brunch look amazing, but it was not great. I still recommend the restaurant, but I would pass on brunch. Went for the Sunday Brunch which was a small spread of salads, baked goods, fruit, sliced meats, cheese, and drinks. When I was seated I was told they were only serving the brunch menu which consisted of the "buffet" and one plate item from the menu for 25euros. Sounded like a lot but I was hungry. As a Celiac in Italy finding someplace that was completely Gluten Free was amazing!! I've been here twice as the food was REALLY good and I didn't have to worry about explaining or finding something I could eat. It also wasn't too expensive and located close to tourists sights so it's not completely out of the way. Just a note, both times we are here we were seated outside so I don't know if it is air conditioned, also at least in the outside seating areas the chairs are not completely comfortable. With that being said, the food is delicious and my non-celiac friend says her pasta was so good it could've been marketed as regular pasta.
