Sight unseen I described the existing water heater , he gave me 2 quotes over the phone using two different water heater manufacturers. He said I can be there in 2 hours. I work in a professional where my hours are unorthodox. Of course, my hot water tank malfunctioned in the middle of a very busy stretch of days for me. The manufacturer would recommend swapping out parts, which I did in the middle of the night when i got home from work. Finally, after the manufacturer recommended i swap the upper thermostat for a second time, I felt like i was on a bit of a wild goose chase. The manufacturer agreed to swap the tank. While, the manufacturer would warranty the tank, I was on the hook for labor. This left me a little uneasy since I would need to have the tank removed, brought to Home Depot, exchanged, and then a new heater brought to my place and installed. Upon recommendation, I contacted RA. These guys had dealt with warrantied heater exchanges before, which was a relief. And, the best part, they were available to complete the service the next day. The original price estimate quoted was high. However, the final bill was a fair. John, the installation expert, was a pleasure to work with and very competent. We'd had a water heater that was slowly beginning to fail. After a morning of lukewarm showers, we decided it was time to finally work on getting a new one. I went through Angie's List and got a call from them within a couple hours of filling out the form. I talked to them on the phone and they walked me through how much they charged, offering a flat rate deal for the heater plus install. He explained where there might be some risk of upcharges in my cases after I sent him a photo of the current installation. I had some pipes that were nearby that might block the water heater from being removed. Overall he was very friendly and forthright about the process. I scheduled an appointment for the next day and their team got to my place a little earlier than expected. Apparently the commercial plumbing warehouse that they picked up the water heater from had opened early that day. I'd much prefer an early start than a late one! They came in and checked out the space where my current water heater was, and let me know that they wouldn't need to charge any extra. They got to work, and a couple hours later, I had a new water heater. It was about 3 hours for the work to be completed. I now have nice warm showers again! The best part though was they fixed a plumbing issue that I'd had which I didn't even ask about. I have a humidifier and the water feed line to it was one of those valves you screw into an existing pipe. I've been told those tend to fail pretty easily, and that I should get that fixed. These guys fixed it without even asking. So, nice new commercial grade water heater (Bradford White), and a free plumbing upgrade to boot! Not too shabby! read more

R.A. Plumbing replaced my water heater which had begun making unsettling noises and appeared to leaking around the hot and cold water connectors. When I called I spoke directly to the owner Rob and he was very knowledgeable and helped me select the best unit for my home over the phone. Kevin was my plumber, arrived the next day, was very patient and comfortable to have in the home. While he was at it, he upgraded the water valve to the humidifier which was a real value add, and replaced a water shut off valve that I hadn't even known was frozen. I contacted Rob at R. A. Plumbing to get a quote on the installation and removal of our old hot water heater. Rob was very thorough with the explanation of the work they would perform and the cost. Since I had other quotes who were much higher and R. A. Plumbing was able to give me quick service, I went with them. The crew arrived on time and they efficiently removed the old hot water heater, installed the new one, installed all new pipes and valves, and they explained what we need to know about the operation of the unit. Would recommend to use probably any company but this one. I called to set up a time to have an estimate, was referred by Culligan. Rob texted me saying he would be at my location in 20 minutes or so.. I get in my car right away to meet him and an hour later he still is not there so I call him to see what is going on and he told me he got caught up with clients and asked if I wanted to cancel my appointment but since I had sat there for an hour I said no... my mistake I should have. When he got to my location he was extremely aggravated which I understand I was aggravated myself at this point. So he begins talking to me about my situation, the situation I had told him about on the phone being that my water heater is in the ceiling tiles so he grabs a ladder that one of my works I hired left at my place and keeps making remarks about how the ladder is broken and if he would have known he would have brought his truck... like what ? I told him on the phone that it was in the ceiling tiles and so did the man from Culligan but why would you show up to a job without your tools? It is not my job to provide you a ladder ! The best part is they never even sent me the estimate !!! Not that I ever planned on using them after how he acted during my estimate.
