I had never heard of King Heating, Cooling & Plumbing before late last week when our 16-year-old Carrier Weathermaker 9200 furnace was working, but struggling to keep our house above 64 degrees and running non-stop. The fact that they have received numerous BBB awards for their service and ethics was a huge positive for me. I phoned them at 2:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019, after no error codes were present, and the furnace was working, but only sending a low level of warm (not hot) air through our home. Ken was helpful on the phone and confirmed that I'd receive a call when the office opened at 7:00 AM, which I did, and then Giuseppe called around 9:00 AM when he was on his way. He diagnosed the exact problem over the phone based on everything I had described and checked myself. It was a clogged secondary heat exchanger--a known problem that resulted in a lawsuit with Carrier, whereby they were issuing rebate credits for the problems with those specific heat exchangers not lasting the 20 years as projected. He verified the problem on site, we completed the paperwork, and were within 30 minutes of securing the correct replacement unit (a new Carrier Infinity furnace #59TN6A, with wifi thermostat) before the warehouse closed on Saturday. Within 30 minutes, installers Mike and Matt arrived to begin removing the old furnace, with Tyler en route with the new one. They laid down dropcloth runners throughout our home all the way to the furnace in the basement, and over the course of the next several hours, did a stellar job of removing the old components and bringing in the new ones without any scuffs or damage to walls (it was a very large unit to navigate down the stairs). They also brought several space heaters to supplement our fireplace while the installation was being completed. Mike has more than 12 years experience, and you can tell from the high quality of work performed. He also pointed out several things (including about 30% blockage in air flow from the return air base cutout, and improperly run drains) from the installer of the prior furnace that he corrected that would help with efficiency of our new unit. Everything is square/level, secure, sized correctly and even the PVC pipes for venting and drainage were cut and cemented without any runs of solvent anywhere. Very impressive work and they left the work area and path to the front door clean. I highly recommend King Heating, and will be using them for our future HVAC needs. Our home is warm again as the coldest weather in Chicago's history hits us today and tomorrow. We also received confirmation today that Carrier is sending us an $800 rebate since we purchased another Carrier unit, and between NICOR (gas) and ComEd (electric), we should receive energy rebates of about $150 for the new high-efficiency unit we had installed. read more

I have ben a customer of Chicagoland Heating & Cooling since it was bought out from King (close to thirty years). King, Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has proven to be a joke - other than loosing Rob Finn (their technician 'Robert Finn') for over 27 years I have no regrets from saying that with my most recent experience with them I would not choose them to perform anything with regard to my home HVAC needs. Not a first timer to this rodeo my Mom & Dad had used Chicagoland since the early eighties. When I moved from my condo into my townhome and then my Mom & Dad in 2005 to a townhome one home away from me - we always used Chicagoland. Withe three Furnaces/AC replaced 1 at my Mom & Dad's townhome and 2 at my own one under Chicagoland and one under King it worked out well. However, I purchased a new/used home in April 2023 and recently had my Furnace/AC inspected. Rob gave a complete inspection of the furnace and it was determined that due to the AC leakage and condensation it had destryed the internal components of my furnace (carbon monoxide hazard). Need to replace both as the AC was causing the problems found in the furnace. Rob knew of the immediate nature of the concern and contacted a sale person who was in the area. Upon leaving the sales person arrived (at the door) Rob asked if he wanted shoe coverings for his feet before he entered and said no. Upon entering, I have a large entry hallway with a large rug for removing shoes before proceeding to my oriental rug which he started to wipe his slosh covered, salt stained wet shoes. I told the sale person 'Stop' Remove your hoes since he decided not to cover with coverings previously provided by Rob. At this point I was already disenchanted with this individual - told him that I was through this rodeo and didn't need the whole 'Horse and Pony' show. Just tell me what I need Furnace/AC and the options. nothing was never provided (after nearly two hours). When we finally went down to look at the existing furnace he started again. At this point I didn't need a lecture about all of the problems - I just wanted a quote as to what needed to be done what options as far as equipment and the cost. At this point of dealing with a person with holes in socks, frayed salt stained pants (not professional) I was done. Wasted two hours and nothing no quote - nothing what will be done. I finally asked what the cost would be and he gave me an amount - working with nothing that would be done. What Furnace, AC, or any of the details tro support the rather high figure he gave me. I told him upon purchasing this house I had a Home Owners Warranty and he didn't even want to explore. Technician great - current sale person very unprofessional. I would hate to loose Rob Finn as a tech - but considering the current experience with sales after close to 40 years of service with Chicagoland/King you lost me. So So Sorry! read more

TLDR; Bought a new Furnace with King Heating; Had Problems,they fixed it during Christmas Holiday break! Got Great use of their Warranty & Feel like they cared about me as a loyal customer; 10/10! Bought a brand new high efficient furnace for home, making a big long-term-investment purchase. At that time in 2016, they did a great and quick job, but felt that I sort of spent a little too much money. Unfortunately, there was a problem with my furnace in the 2018 winter season, at 3am, with my 2 month old baby!!!!! I called King in an emotional panic and they (their call center) answered almost immediately. They were able to get a Tech out to me in a few hours. Being emotional, i thought that was unacceptable and called (3) other heating services. One of them did not answer and the other two said the same thing, stating that they would call me back in the morning, as their emergency techs were all busy (bad luck, right?!). King Heating was THE ONLY company to have called me back exactly at the time they said they were going to (the other companies said they would too, but didn't). They then, worked with me to get details of the problem and got a tech out to my house in about 1-2 hours (5-6 hours total of waiting). The Tech fixed the problem and adjusted the furnace; all is well again *whew*! Since i bought the furnace through them, it was covered 100% with the warranty/labor warranty they offer, with no additional emergency charges. Alright, I am feeling like I now got my money's worth back from 2016. 29 Days later, it is Christmas Eve-Eve going into Christmas-Eve, at 5am the furnace has the same problem and once again turns off. I called King Heating first and they answered immediately and once again. They were able to get a Tech out, once again in 1-2 Hours (On Christmas Eve!). This Tech, Corey, was able to quickly assess the situation, once again adjusting the specs on the furnace to make it better. Fixed the problem and scheduled a replacement part follow-up fix with me because I had the warranty and did not want me, or the furnace, to "take any chances". Came back, post Christmas, very early (working PERFECTLY with my schedule) fixed the "potential problem", once again being covered with King Heating's Warranty. I feel that King Heating worked perfectly with scheduling and their techs took their time to check, double check and confirm potential problems or making the furnace 'more efficient'. Then, treated me as a loyal customer, not nickel and dime-ing me with add-ons or extras that i do not need. Then, making me feel like i made a great purchase/long term investment with their product and service. read more

My retired parents started their AC unit a few weeks ago with the warm weather. An ear-piercing screeching noise came from the furnace/humidifier area (not the AC unit), and we called King after hours. We didn't feel it was an emergency, so they offered an appointment the next day. The technician was to call about 30 minutes out from arriving. I played a video of the noise, and as Murphy's Law goes, the technician, Frank, couldn't replicate the noise. ‍ Frank was GREAT! He took the time to explain what he was doing to my parents and me, performed several tests on the furnace, oiled wheels/gears, checked the humidifier (showed my Mom how to replace the filter), and AC unit. Still no noise. After he left, within an hour, the noise started again, but for less than a minute (instead of the almost 6-10 minute screeching we were used to), and it was less frequent. Frank had explained that if the noise started again, to call back King, and they would send out a technician for a callback. Corey came out the next afternoon and adjusted the dampers, and so far, the noise had stopped. Again, Corey explained everything to us and was very kind. We highly recommend King Heating * Cooling * Plumbing for your new furnace, AC, and humidifier needs. They are quick, accommodating, kind, empathetic, economical, and great to work with. Note: King did install all the units at my parent's house with a generous 10-year warranty, as long as you have your units maintained by them yearly at the start of each hot and cold season. Tip: Be kind to the technician that comes to your home to do the diagnostic, repair, and installation. These people work their butts off all day and are on-call evenings and weekends. Give them a break and a can of pop, at least when they finish! read more

We had King Heating and Cooling replace our original 18 year old furnace and AC system. Joe came out to the house to consult on repairing our existing system or replacing. Giving us several options, and after much research, we decided to go with replacement. Joe presented options which were aligned to purely meet to our needs. The quality of the installation workmanship was exceptional! Mike and Justin were very professional and their quality of installation and attention to detail was absolutely top notch. From meticulously leveling the furnace and AC compressor (nicely positioned and placed on a bed of pea gravel), nicely dressing the zone control wiring, and perfection in the sheetmetal workmanship, to the really nice job in plumbing the system for supply and drain lines... every aspect of the installation was exceptional. Mike thoroughly explained the system to us, even noticing a slight whistle coming from the underside of the furnace/evaporator unit and fixed it - again displaying great customer service and attention to the details. We had a Carrier Professional series system installed and could not be happier with the performance. I can't believe how quiet the AC compressor unit is, compared to our old compressor. In summary, the King Heating and Cooling team came through for us, presenting a solution matched to and meeting our needs, and delivering performance excellence in the installation of the system. I came home from work on a Sunday morning to find my air conditioning had failed and my home was 90 degrees inside. I was worried that it would be difficult to find anyone to help or it costing a fortune to have them come out being a weekend. I called their office and within 45 minutes a technician named Tony was knocking at my door. He was very friendly and treated the issue at hand as if it were his own. He quickly was able to see that we needed a new system and contacted Ralph the comfort consultant who was at our house soon after. Ralph was very courteous and friendly and within 20 mins had helped us choose the best option for our home as well as the best financially for us. By noon the same day our new air conditioning system was installed by Tim and Wayne who were just as nice as the others and treated our home with respect. Tim and Wayne were also very informative and explained the upgrades/repairs that they made to our system so that we could be better informed consumers. I can admit that I am a very critical person when it comes to hiring someone to work on my home, but these guys won me over immediately. We found King Heating of Frankfort, IL via our Costco membership. King Heating is an established company so we were glad to work with them. We had other quotes a year ago for heating and air conditioning. But we could tell we were working with smaller HVAC companies with lesser furnace options. Using King meant having a Lennox furnace which is an industry best choice. My review is primarily to compliment our two installers: Joe P. and Jeff D. 1) On time. Joe P. and Jeff D. arrived on time, ready to work. 2) Efficient. These men multi-tasked on their work. They have been a team for years. 3) Great Customer care. When they were complete we could feel the heat coming through the vents. Joe P. explained our new fancy Ecobee controller which is both on a wall and controlled via iPhone. I myself have taught many how to use computers and Joe P. was a good trainer, good customer care. Trustworthy. Ultimately, you want to trust your vendor, installers, and their work. You can trust King Heating and especially Joe P. and Jeff D. in your home to get the job done while you're watching grandchildren or TV. I recently had my furnace and AC unit replaced by king and although this expense was not expected I am, glad that my wife and I chose King for the job. We look at two other companies, one never showed up and the other although not bad, king offered a better price and warranty. King called promptly after I submitted my quote request online to set up a day for the consultant to come over. Hector Rivera, our consultant explained everything in detail and answered all our questions. On the scheduled day of installation, Jeff & George were professional, they called ahead to give me an ETA. Once home, they were respectful of the property and took great care to ensure that no dirt was being tracked from the outside. Once completed, I was given an overview of my equipment, the install process and the energy saving features that my new system was capable of as well as an overview as to how to navigate the new Ecobee Thermostat. I personally was not looking for the cheapest system, a new AC and furnace is an investment and I wanted products that had a good reputation in quality and warranty. We have been dealing with King for a few years now, last week John came to do the annual maintenance on our a/c, after running all kinds of tests he was straight forward with us & mentioned that our 23-year-old a/c might now make it through the summer due to components that are starting to fail. He recommended that we should start thinking of replacing it. We told him our furnace is the same age. He asked if we wanted him to run some prices for replacing both. John gave us choices and financing options & said he could get it installed as soon as next week. This past Friday both the furnace and a/c were installed Daniel called when he was on his way, the entire crew showed up shortly thereafter. Jacob & his crew was in the backyard dismantling & installing the a/c, while Daniel and his crew did the same on the furnace. Everyone was polite and courteous. After everything was installed Daniel & Jacob took the time to go over the furnace, a/c & thermostat with us & answered any questions we had. I heard many good things about King Heating!! Everything I have heard is correct!!! I needed a new furnace and A/C system and decided to call King, based on what I had heard. From the very beginning, I encountered nothing but professionalism and genuine concern for my satisfaction. My Comfort Specialist, Steve J., came out to my house within one day of my phone call to provide an estimate. He was very detail oriented and provided several options for new equipment. Once I had decided on my equipment, I was given an installation date a week later, even though it was in the middle of summer. The installers, Tim S. and Jim T. arrived right on time and ready to work. They were very courteous and respectful of my home and property. The worked diligently and were able to finish a complete HVAC system removal and replacement in about four hours. We had to shut down our furnace on Friday evening due to a strange sound and smell. I contacted King Heating online early Saturday morning. Their callback came within the hour, and they scheduled us for their technician to come out. The tech called to let us know his approx. arrival time. He did a great job explaining what the problem was, and what our options were. We decided that replacing the furnace would be our best investment. We first met with Ralph their salesman, who did a fantastic job breaking down all our options and prices. He was extremely professional. Ralph set-up the installation, and stated that the installer would also call us prior to coming out. Mario their installer called about 1 hour later to confirm his approx. arrival. They did a wonderful job installing the new furnace. The whole process took about 3-4 hours. Mario thoroughly explained the features of the furnace and new thermostat. Being a small business owner myself, and always looking to provide great customer service, King Heating delivered at every level. We will certainly use them for any future work! read more

My water heater (or so we thought) was making an odd sound and I figured it needed to be replaced. I called King and they sent someone out to give me a quote. I then made the appointment to have the water heater replaced. Jordan was sent to do the install. He took one look at the small, cramped utility closet and realized he didn't have the right model needed to fit (it wasn't notated on the quote) and would also need help to remove the old heater. Jordan jumped into action! He called the home office and was able to get the slim model needed and had it brought out to my house. They were able to remove the old heater with no problem and the Jordan was able to replace the heater. Jordan was friendly and courteous and did a fantastic job. During the install he realized it wasn't the heater making the weird sound but it was the sump pump in the crawl space right below the closet. He was able to replace that, as well as fix some other issues that would have caused problems in the future. Jordan and King did a great job! read more
