We had a bad experience with King Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. When our furnace stopped working, we called King. The company's technician told us that it would cost so much to get our10-year-old furnace working that we would be better off buying a new furnace. We called Abt Electronics for a second opinion. The Abt technician got our furnace working again by cleaning a clogged pressure switch hose (as part of Abt's standard service fee for the visit). By not following King's recommendations, we saved thousands of dollars. When we told King that we were unhappy with their service and wouldn't be using the remainder of our multi-year service agreement with them, we weren't asked why we were unhappy. We weren't asked to speak with someone who would address our complaint. We weren't offered any financial incentive to continue using King. We weren't offered any refund for the more than a year left on our agreement. Instead, we were told: "OK." So much for the company's "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" on its website. read more

I called this company because my central air unit at my condo was not working. It was blowing hot air and it was a 90° week. They sent a man out the next morning, who went outside and looked at the unit and informed me that the whole thing was shot and I would need a new one. He said that the refrigerant that the unit needed wasn't even available any more, and that it would cost about the same to fix the unit as to buy a new one. He said he would send someone out the next day to discuss the purchase of a new unit. So I paid the $99.00 service fee ($99 that I just threw out the window, considering how they wasted my time trying to make an idiot of me; read on). The next morning, the sales person came out and quoted me $7,400.00 (snort ) for a new a/c unit. I said, "Is there anything cheaper?" "No," he answered, looking me right in the eye. My tongue was stinging from biting it so hard. I didn't lose my cool, though. I was in a bad situation: overheated and sweating in my small apartment and at my wits' end. The sales rep left and I called another heating and cooling company. The guy from the new place came out this morning. I asked if he thought he could fix the air conditioner. He said, "Yeah, I think so," and he did. In under an hour. I am now sitting in my living room, nice and cool, with ice cold air blowing from the vents. I paid $ 280.00. King H, C and P seems to think that women (especially older women) are stupid. I hate to think how many people they've ripped off. Judging from their Yelp rating, probably quite a few. To quote $7,400 for a small central air conditioner (that was with "discounts" ) is an absolute disgrace. These guys have some pretty big cojones to even make a ridiculous quote like that. I was impressed that a contract was sent out the same day by Luke (Bill the Boiler Expert), and that we also had a visit from the sales worker Brandon that evening. Bill informed Matt that our boiler system was dated 1984, so after 30 years in our home, it was definitely time for an upgrade. While a new system is a significant investment, all of the employees at King Heating made me feel at ease and confident that I was making the right decision for our home. Tyler, who has been to our house before, was here on September 5 to perform a fall tune up on our furnace and all went well. He was off to a great start when he put shoe coverings on. Not everybody, from every company does. He didn't find any problems and he was in and out. We've been King customers for years and are consistently happy with their service. I called King back in 2022 when my furnace and water heater went out at the same time in the first week of a frigid January. I was sold a new furnace, water heater and AC unit for a grand total of over $15K. I had to get a furnace and water heater installed ASAP, as I was not able to get time off work to shop around, and the weather was horribly cold so I could not just wait for heat and hot water while I found the best deal. It was an all day project when all of the workers came to install. Seems like the scheduling was not done right, as the plumber had to wait until the furnace installers were done before he could finish the water heater install. The next morning, I still had no hot water, because the plumber never turned the water heater on. I was having trouble trying to figure out how to turn the blower fan on and off with my new Nest thermostat, and when they sent a tech out, he had NO CLUE how to do this. I ended up going on youtube with the tech there and figured it out myself. It blew my mind. I had to have them come out this past spring to inspect my blower fan, and was told that whoever hooked up my furnace did the wiring wrong. They completed a tune-up (which I was charged for smh), which I feel was not fair. I was told that I had to pay for tune-ups in spring and fall in order to maintain my warranty. So basically, I am paying about $200 per year just to keep a warranty. I don't know of other companies that insist on this, as most furnaces and water heaters should come with some kind of factory warranty. I had a tech come out to perform a spring tune up, and had to wait a month for them to come out. I never got a call to remind me of the appointment time, nor did I get a call letting me know they were in route to my home. I DID get a call when the tech was IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. The tech told me he peered inside my windows to see if anyone was home, which horrified me. The tech told me he "saw someone inside walking around" - which was my husband who was feeling unwell that day so he did not come to the door. How dare he look into the windows of my home!! I had to leave work early and fly home to meet the tech at my house. I called today to schedule a winter tune up only to be told that it would be at least 2 months before they would be able to come out and do this work. With King being such a large company, I feel like that wait time is overly excessive. With all of this being said, I am left feeling so uneasy about this company. read more

Took over a month to "order" a part that never came in and have been out at least 5 additional times to do repairs that didn't work. King is getting ridiculous! I made an appointment approximately 5 months ago for Jerry to perform our yearly furnace cleaning and inspection this Monday 10/06. I received a call today to confirm our appointment and I ask to confirm that Jerry would be performing this service. I was told NO that they would be sending someone else. I specifically booked this appointment to be with Jerry. We have had other experiences with other technicians and to put it lightly they SUCKED! I had to reschedule and was told Jerry would not be available until 12/10. I took the appointment but we are very disappointed with King Heating and Cooling. I want to update my review to say that King has been very responsive and is working with us to solve our HVAC concerns. We purchased the top of notch system but had to get a specialized thermostat to work with the troubled areas in our home where the air flow and cooling system were not cooling in an equal manner. So far I like the sensor which reconciles differing temperatures. Weather is rapidly changing and I hope changing the registers along with this new system will improve our winter and summer challenges in 2025 and 2026. read more

I have a brand new unit which was purchased and installed less than 2 years ago. Yesterday the thermostat stopped working. I called and was put on the list. They lady said that she can't promise me that someone will get here today. She said they have a lot of people on the list. My gripe is why is the unit not working after two years. I feel like I wasted 15,000 to get something brand new only for it not to work. This unit is less than two years old, it should not have any problems. I keep saying that it's less than two years old and I'm going to keep saying it. This is absolutely insane. The temperature in my house is 94 degrees with windows and blinds closed and ceiling fans going. I am missed. I am beyond pissed. Kings yall need to do better. These guys are either thieves or they are incompetent. They said our 6 year old boiler was leaking but they could fix the problem to the tune of 20 thousand dollars. We naturally got a couple of second opinions only to find that their "evidence" of leakage was a leftover from a condensation leak above the boiler that was fixed for about 40 bucks. Update on this case. It's been a few weeks since they did come out and agreed with the other company stating there is a large leak in the coil. Never heard from King so I called. Carol stated it is documented that a new coil is recommended. She said she will check into and call back. Randy called back quickly which is appreciated and said they can come friday. We agreed to this and I stated with the big leak and hot weather I hope the coolant will last. Well, it stopped cooling after that phone call. I called and spoke with Marissa asking if we can push the date up since an elderly person with heart and kidney disease lives there and it is going to be humid. She said nope friday is the only day. No compassion. This has been going on for months now and when we finally get an appointment it breaks down before the appointment making the elderly suffer in humidity. Everything about dealing with King was happy. First, I called a few days ago, on Sunday, when my furnace quit. I was very happy to get an actual person, who asked a couple questions (along the lines of repair? replace?) and said someone would be out that day. ON A SUNDAY. Already, these guys have a customer for life. OK. Derek calls ahead, appears a bit later. He checks out the old furnace, we talk about options, cold spots, stuff like that. I chose a furnace, got a price, set installation (first available) for Tuesday - 2 days. The other places I talked to wouldn't even have a sales guy out until after that; good thing the outdoor temperature wasn't all that cold. Installers came early Tuesday (yesterday), did a great job, showed me where to change the thing (forgot what it's called) in the humidifier and the filter in the furnace, even figured out how to get the Call for Service message off of my (not new) thermostat. Very happy, and not freezing any more. Even the former cold spots in the house are nice and toasty. read more
