While it seemed outrageous that the price would essentially double over one thing they "forgot", I was desperate and they came highly reviewed, so I agreed and asked when I could bring my car in. Without any hesitation and without consulting anyone, the person I spoke with said that the almost $8000 estimate wasn't the ACTUAL estimate, and that they wanted to "look at the numbers again". To be honest, it felt like they were just jacking the price up to see how much I'd pay. I was nothing but pleasant and respectful over the phone, and they had given me my car back after the oil change, so this was not a situation where they were finding new things wrong -- they didn't have my car. This place does not seem honest or reliable at all. They didn't even attempt to fix the problems with my car when I brought it in. They gave multiple escalating quotes and didn't stick to any of them. They didn't call when they said they would, or at all.

However, my wife's E61 535xi developed a bad water pump that left us stranded, and I just didn't have time to delve into it, considering this is one of the most complicated water pump replacements of all BMWs. I heard good things about Louie's so I took the car over and told them to "do whatever needed to be done to make the car perfect." Now you know what a dealership service department would do in a situation like that: gouge you for a ton of unnecessary stuff. Rob was booked solid, but he squeezed me in and got the car done in a day. I was sitting down when I called to inquire about the bill. But it was very reasonable. Rob explained that he checked all the known trouble spots on the car and everything was fine. All it needed was the water pump and thermostat assembly and there was no need to replace anything else. The job was done for the price he quoted in less time than I expected to wait. Needless to say, he has earned a loyal customer with integrity, honestly and good workmanship.
