Took my car in for a repair that needed to be done and as soon as I picked it up I was making a knocking noise so I made an appointment as soon as I could get back in and turns out the part they needed to remove right next to the part they fixed just happened to be broken. This repair needs to be hammered just the right way or this can happen. I know this because my dad had been a mechanic for 40+ years. I told them I knew what most likely happened (and so did they) and they didn't even entertain the possibility. Like offer a discount or something when you just don't know 100% either way but nope 900 dollars later and they lost a very loyal customer. read more

Went in for a brake replacement (front and back), and they didn't put my car into "SERVICE MODE" and fried my emergency brake system. They also charged me the software download! They knew they screwed up, but wouldn't fix it. This cost me $3700 to fix somewhere else. read more

I don't know how they run the place usually, they may do good work. I will never find out. I went in today to get a car inspected and a mechanic was backing a van out of a service well and screamed bloody murder that we'd blocked him. He had plenty of room, but even if it were tight, he really was out of bounds screaming at my wife and me as we'd just driven up. I just leave a mechanic with all my money and first born child!!!! No really stop laughing really stop laughing. So I buy a car and with in 20 miles I start hearing a odd noise coming from the bottom of the car front passenger side. FML I take it to Sears in Saugus to get looked at 3 hours later they come back with a $1,400 estimate and I'm there just saying F it can't what to tell my wife this and get yelled at. I hate when she say "I told you so" I figure I will take my car to get a 2nd opinion and maybe they will charge less. So I wake up today got to the safe deposit box and tell my self might as well just empty it because I'm going to a mechanic and we all know it's ridiculous amount of money to fix a car. I stop by my house to pick up my 1st born hoping he won't have a tantrum in the shop to keeping is trade in value high and some home give him as a sacrifice to the mechanics. I call and talk to Steve really nice guy Calm voice very welcoming tells me to stop in to have it looked at. $$$$$ I pull up to the shop and by surprise it's amazing clean and nicely laid out. I give John my keys and take a seat praying that it will be less to get fixed here. Less then 10 mins later Steve with a killer baller mustache tells me to take a look at the bottom of my car that is on the car left.$$$$$$$ I tell his "it's so bad you need to show me"? He replies "No No it's going to be fine." John who has been a mechanic since he was 16 years old shows me some metal thing making all these noise he tells me he's going to cut it off its simple he says. (I'm think simple can't be cheap) 5 mins later were taking it for a test drive and the noise is GONE never to be heard again!!!!!!! I was not change ANYTHING!!!!! Not the same as when Ronnie owned the shop. My mom and I have been customers for years. I recently went in for an oil change and was told my brakes need to be done soon. They showed me one of their little brake pad demos that are conveniently placed all along the counter top and said I'm in the "yellow" range and will be in the "red" range soon. Was quoted approximately $900. Fast forward 2-3 weeks, I got a second opinion @ Bruhm's in Saugus, MA. I dropped my car off and they called the next day asking what the issue was exactly, because they can't find anything wrong with my brakes at all. Won't be returning to Ronnie's again. I was in search of a new mechanic since my old mechanic moved. I read the yelp reviews and asked around and decided to checkout Ronnie's. Walked in and met Ansley at the desk. I described my situation with my vehicle and she went and got a mechanic (Pablo) to confirm. Very impressed with the immediate help and professionalism. Agreed to have the car worked on the next day. Got a call in the morning with what needed to be done along with a reasonable price. Received another call a few hours later stating car was ready. Small conversation with a couple of folks waiting for repairs confirmed this automotive center treats it's customers well, does quality work at a reasonable price. The Meineke guys are honest and the cheapest repairs around by far!!! I've used them several times and they have been hundreds cheaper than my local shop. One repair was $200 less and the second was $400 less. And they back their warranty. Recently my beater car failed its emissions inspection. My local guy was going to give me a good deal of $1600 to replace two catalytic converts. Meineke replaced both Catalytic converters for $1200. On the lift they said one was new but couldn't find a repair in the computer even after I insisted they did all of the exhaust work on my cars. They said if I could find the paper work they'd take something off. A day later I walk in with the receipt from 3 years ago for $500 and they give me back $500 on the spot no questions asked. I never would have known the two repairs were of the same part if they didn't point it out. They could have given me a partial refund. So if you'd heard a bad recommendation about Ronnie's - for-get-a-bout-it! I have over $1000 in my pocket because of Ronnie's. Oh yeah my kids have a car with an inspection sticker. Everyone is stoked, thanks to Ronnie and his crew. read more

Brought a friends car to get her remotes reprogrammed, was told she could have the car for the weekend, she's a waitress. No phone call she had to borrow a car to get to work, they didn't resolve the issue (didn't even seem like they looked at it ) and charged her $600.00. After a head-spinning month dealing with other service centers, Ronnie's came to my rescue. My engine light just wouldn't go off. Ronnie's technicians stayed with me and gave me an honest answer and made sure I was completely satisfied. I had a pinched wire that needed to be repaired by dropping the gas tank. Something other service centers couldn't diagnose. They did the job and I've returned for routine service ever since. Sure, I may be "automotively illiterate", and it may be obvious to others, but I was always treated with respect and all my questions were addressed with sincerity and a smile. They were happy to give me a loner car. Which did it's job as promised. I just wish it didn't smell like a halfway house for recovering smokers. While waiting for service in your typical overly uncomfortable chairs, I ran into many familiar faces who have been going there for years. I recently had a nail in the side-wall of a new tire, and the big tire store up the street told me it was not repairable and must be replaced. I figured I'd get a second opinion. I had been to Ronnie's For an inspection sticker in the past, but not for any repairs. They said no problem, we can plug it and it will most likely hold. They were honest about it and said in their opinion it should be OK. They also noted that I was in desperate need of a brake job, without pressuring me, and I knew this already. So, I decided to have them do the brakes. I was out of there in about an hour and I couldn't be happier. I have another repair that I need to have done and I'm going back. Is it possible to give 0 stars? If I could I would. Bill D. may have had a great experience...but either he's friends with them or the guys at Ronnie's singled me out cuz I'm a female--or for whatever reason. I went to Ronnie's Automotive in Billerica, MA for an oil change and a state inspection. They told me I would fail the state inspection because my rear tires would not pass--they said they were too bald. I asked them for the actual tread depth, and was given some vague qualitative answer that they would not pass. BS. They were REALLY encouraging me to buy new tires (they gave me an estimate) and then to get the inspection done, said they could do it all the same day. I said no thanks. I had the vehicle undergo a pre-purchase inspection 3 weeks before I went to Ronnie's (I just bought the car from a private party) and was given a report that reads the rear tires were 6/32nds. According to MA law from the RMV site, 2/32nds should pass. I visited another 2 garages (YES, 2) the day after I went to Ronnie's, and it was confirmed that the rear tires were indeed 6/32nds and the car passed inspection. Ronnie and his goons at Ronnie's Automotive are crooks, and will probably prey on most unsuspecting females. They were more interested in selling me tires than passing a perfectly passable vehicle for state inspection. And PS, they DO NOT do oil changes under Meineke's name anymore...I called to check with HQ. They have a Meineke sign for who knows what, but it's NOT FOR OIL CHANGES. They were feeding me the bs about the tires while my oil was being changed. Listen to this---to top it all off I noticed the little sticker on the top left corner of my windshield reads I need to get my oil changed in the next 2,000 miles...not 3,000. Did they think I wouldn't notice??!??! They tried to dupe me into thinking I would need my next oil change 1,000 miles sooner than I would. Who does that????? I did complain to the Mass RMV, but since Ronnie's didn't officially "FAIL" me (and just turned me away, in hopes I would buy their tires), it's my word against theirs...and nothing can be done. So that's why I signed up with yelp today, to warn you to stay away from these liars!!!!!!!!! I know I'm never going back! read more

I decided to come to Ronnie's after hearing about it from my roommate. What did I have to lose? I'm so glad I came. They were able to diagnose the problem instantly! Very disappointing. Took car in for side mirror replacement and was told I needed rear brakes, including expensive calipers. They told me calipers need replacing when you wait too long. Looking through my receipts I saw that I was there in March when they replaced my FRONT brakes. I believe they should have seen I needed rear brakes back in March and would have saved my calipers. When I told them that, they said there was no way for them to know in March. Very disappointing. read more

Have used them for many years. we have found them to be very reliable, and honest. Fast and do not push extra service on you. We recently took one of our cars in to see if it would pass inspection and be ok to sell. They charged us 45. To evaluate. it. It turned out to be crap .so they helped us to junk it. We use them for everything from flat tires, to oil change, to breaks and catalytic converter. Always happy with the service. 100 would recommend them.and do!!! read more

Service is great! I had a noise I needed a diagnosis of and they got me in same day and took me on time. They brought me out and showed me exactly what I was hearing and explained what it was and why I didn't need to be concerned with it yet. They warned me that its not inexpensive to fix so wrote up an estimate so I knew the cost when it comes time to actually fix it. The second best part is they have a very clean bathroom. read more

I had always taken my vehicles to a local dealership because I felt that a dealership had the "special tools" that gave them an advantage over the "mom and pop" auto shops. Recently after the dealership misdiagnosed my problems more than 5 times on 2 problems, at costs soaring up over $3000.00 I decided to take a chance and let Ronnie's have a go at it. Not only are they super nice guys, they were able to diagnose the problem easily, that the dealership had missed and the dealership had already charged me $1600 to replace the wrong part ( steering box ). The mechanic that did the work ( Jim ) told me it was a very common problem ( frozen U joint ) with Fords and when I asked him how long it took him to diagnose it he said "about 10 seconds". I already had a quote from the dealership to fix it ( again ) , but Ronnie's' came in at considerably less money. Ronnie's also fixed it and called me back in about 4 hours. So once I had one vehicle back I gave them my other one. Again, a very quick diagnosis, call back, and all fixed within 2 hours. I told Steve and Steve the 2 owners ( I think ) that they now have my trust and my business. Do not hesitate. Take your vehicles to Ronnie's. I get the feeling that you do not have to compare their prices. They are not trying to get rich on each job, I think. It appears to me that they are trying to do great work for a fair rate, which is very rare these days. I wish I could give them 10 stars. If you're a woman alone going to Ronnie's, prepare to be spoken to as if you're a 4-year-old with a hearing problem and scammed unless you're at least willing to let them speak to a man. I have rarely been so blatantly insulted and I suspected he had rejected my car for unnecessary reasons. Rather than torture myself debating my gut feeling with someone who had clearly decided that I was a moron at first glance I took the car to another place. The mechanic at the other place said that my suspicions were correct and that I "absolutely should not have been rejected for that" and proceeded to call the guy at Ronnie's some wonderfully colorful names. I know men who swear by Ronnie's, but I hope they'll reconsider knowing how that place treats women. And women, if you go alone and you suspect the repairs are unreasonably expensive or aren't sure everything they want you to do is necessary, please consider getting a second opinion. read more

Where is Ronnie??? This place has really gone down hill since HE SOLD THE BUSINESS last year. I've come back twice and had issues both times. First time they tried to charge me over $500 for a brake job THEY had done within the last year. When the new owner told me the quote, I told him they had done the original work which he could confirm when he looked in their records. It would have been nice if he checked them first. I had been a loyal Ronnie's customer for years and the new guy tried to rip me off. He realized the work was still under warranty and changed the quote to $200. The second time I had a bad tire and needed to get it replaced before work. I called and confirmed they still carried the tire, had it in stock and could put it on before 9am. Should be easy.... But when I got there they told me they needed to send a runner out to get it from storage.... He'd lied like a dog to get me in there and when I asked him why he threatened to call the police! So I got my new tires at Tire Fair instead, with No hassle. There are other, better options close by; Patterson Automotive and R&D are reliable and low cost, local alternatives. read more

My girlfriend and I both go to Ronnie's for all of our car needs (oil changes, inspection stickers, brakes, tires and all of our repairs). I drive a 2011 Cadillac and my girl has a 2005 Honda with over 220,000k miles and it still purrs like a kitten. We are both chicks and always get treated with respect at Ronnies. They are professional, fair and we don't feel like they are taking advantage of us like we have at other places. I go to Ronnies rather than Olsen Cadillac because they are affordable, fair, honest, respectful and don't pressure or scare you into doing unnecessary repairs. I come from a big family of mechanics (father, brother, cousin, uncle), and whenever I consult my dad about a quote Ronnies has given me my dad always says that's fair. And for those of you wondering why my dad just doesn't work on my car if he's a mechanic... well first he's retired and secondly mechanics only fix their cars when they are broken down ;) read more

I've lived in Billerica for 34 years and I have gone to Ronnie's for as long as I can remember. ST sounds like she had real problems with her car and didn't like the answers she got. ( a rip off place would have just pasted a reject sticker ). I'm sorry to hear that. But, I could always trust what I was told at Ronnie's, Brakes, front end work, and years ago I had a whole engine replaced there. It may not be the prettiest place ( although the new waiting room is good). Almost everyone in Billerica will recomend Ronnies for a straight answer. I called about prices on oil changes, was told around $25 if the car needed five quarts. They asked when I went in how much my truck used, I said five, as I usually do it myself. They did it, charged me $37, and said it took six quarts. I checked the manual which said 5.2 with the filter. They said that was okay, Next day my check engine light came on. They said it was not related to the overfilling of the oil and that it indicated the converter was not hot enough. The internet informed me that a P0430 was exhust leak, O2 sensor on right bank, or converter, two out of the three could be caused by excess oil. Bottom line, they overcharded, overfilled and lied to me. Needless to say, I will not be going back, unless that check engine light comes back on, and then I'm not sure I would trust them. read more
