I brought my SUV in to have the rear brakes replaced. They told me I needed new brake pads new rotors new calipers. The price was $1500. I thought that was extremely high so I brought it to a local place in Chelmsford. They told me my calipers were fine. They did not need to be replaced and they did my brake pads and rotors and serviced my calipers for $700. VIP prices are ridiculously high. I'm not sure what to think... I had an oil change done and I asked if they could please fill my tires with air. I had no idea that having metal tire valve caps would fuse together. They said they couldn't get the caps off. I went home and watched a few videos. I had 2 options: use a dremel and cigarette lighter. I have both of those, but first I put on rubber garden gloves and an adjustable wrench. I'm not strong by any means; hell, a 12 year old could kick my butt! I didn't put much elbow grease into it and the cap loosened. WTF?! I then was able to unscrew it with my hand. All four tire valve caps came off exactly the same way with the same amount of strength. The look on my face *_* I drove back and showed them the caps. They're all "how'd you get them off?!" I said with my hands and a wrench. You can physically see that there is no signs of wear and tear on the metal caps. They came off easily. They gave me new plastic caps and filled my tires with air :) Soooo.. you make the call. read more

Tire kept on going flat on two year old tire and dealer said it was fine so figured we make an appt to have a second opinion. The VIP tech finds a screw in the tire and says that they are dangerously worn and have dry rot and need to be replaced immediately. My husband researched tires and the best deal was with Commonwealth our dealer. He made an appt with them saying they missed finding the screw and asked about the wear and dry rot. They apologized with missing the screw and gave us something for it, most importantly they said our tires are probably good for another Year. I went in to get an balance, mount and an alignment. My car was too low to get on the lift which is fine I was expecting to get that answer. The person at the front desk was really cool and personable. 100% professional and let me know what was going on throughout the whole process. The issues came from the service. The person that was supposed to just mount and balance my wheels did an absolute horrible job. I came out to find my wheel is now bent, new scratches and dents on all 4 wheels. They installed new valve stems onto my car and even dented the crap outta my wheel in doing so. I was really hoping this would've been my new tire spot but this is just unacceptable. The employees are very friendly and helped fix the issues with my car very quickly. While it was more expensive than I expected, I didn't mind because they did a great job. However, I found a bunch of new scratches and skid marks on top of the hatch and on the bumper of my car that I know weren't there on dropnoff, considering I spent a few hours washing my car yesterday. So I'm more familiar with what marks were already on my car before I dropped it off today. Very disappointed since I wasn't told any of this when I picked it up today. I first brought my car to VIP to get an oil change and was given a free oil change as a Veteran and it was Veterans day week end. So then I brought my SUV in for a front end alignment and tire repair. Told my 18 y/o daughter she had shit tires and when they put the red R sticker on she'd get pulled over on the way home so she should have the work done. Had my oil changed here. And did alignment and tire rotation. All went well with exception of checking antifreeze which I suspected was low. My wife complained poor heat at low speed, I took car back and they did check fluid level and did add fluid for me. Now works ok. read more

I did not expect the salesman to "disagree" with me about how worn my tires were (when I was told by other retailers that it was not an emergency), then tried to sell me tires which were on sale that were not the ones I was interested in. I brought my car in for a new car battery. I used this company because I work right down the street and could bring the car in on my break. I got a quote from the ford company as $190 total. I relayed this to VIP who in turn looked at my car stated that they could do it for the same price. When I returned to pick up my car they tried to charge me $275. When I questioned this the told me they would work with me and dropped the price to $250. This is price gouging at its best. I will never refer anyone to this place. I've had service done at this location in the past and never had a serious complaint. That all changed since I had my tires replaced a few weeks ago. I've been noticing that my car is running a bit rougher than normal (tire noise) so I checked my tire pressure. Ideal pressure for all 4 tires is listed on the door frame as 33 PSI. Of the 4 tires, one was at 33, one at 34, one at 35.5, and one at 36. The 33 and 36 were front, and the 34 and 35.5 were back. In addition, I only had 3 valve caps between the 4 tires, with one being black, and the other 2 silver. When I called to complain about the lack of attention to quality, the manager "Al" insisted that this was all reasonable so long as the low pressure warning light was not on. Frankly if that's the bar they set at this shop for quality, I'll be finding another store to work on my cars from now on. read more

My son discovered his car with a flat rear tire this morning. Both rear tires were pretty worn and due for replacement, so we did some searching online and called VIP Tire & Service for an estimate to have both rear tires replaced. Their quote was in-line with other value-oriented alternatives, open for business on a Saturday, and nearby, so we made an appointment. The counter and service personnel were friendly and professional - They didn't attempt to sell us more expensive tires, or push other services, and completed the work in the time estimated (60 minutes with two other customers ahead of us - just enough time to walk across the street and have lunch :). We have a regular garage that we would have used if it weren't a Saturday, however were happy to have discovered VIP and wouldn't hesitate to visit this location again should the need arise. read more

Buyer beware: they'll try and sell you work you don't need. After an oil change they told me that my brakes were shot and all needed pads and rotors, and gave me a nice fat estimate. I asked how shot and they told me "down to the metal" I set about changing the brakes, and find that the pads are only about 50% worn and the rotors are in average condition - probably 10k miles before they need doing. So I wasted $200 on parts and a Saturday afternoon to find out that they'd tried to scam me. If they tell you that you need work, get a second opinion - you might save yourself a lot of cash! read more

Fixed my tire, but didn't put the hub cap on right, it fell off as I was driving away and got run over by another car and broke. VIP refused to pay for the hubcap. I'll never go back again. Poor service all around. read more
