The familiar Safeway layout made everything easy to find, and the overall atmosphere felt calm and pleasant rather than hectic. Self-checkout was clean and seamless, and the parking lot felt safe. I was surprised to see the average Yelp rating hovering around 2.5 stars. Of course, I did not experience the store during its busiest daytime hours, but based on my visit, I have nothing but positive things to say. There is still a wide variety of decent international staples, but it's highly focused on cult products and flavorings. Prepackaged and ultra-processed foods are becoming standard(s). Protein is down, carbs are up. There's still a reasonable variety of veggies, fresh, but not in wide abundance. Certain common items, like walnuts, go missing for long periods of time, and other items become seasonable and their shelf space is unreliable. So while it's still good, there is now wade through the weeds of products that are edge-case. Hail Mary Marketing attempts. I bristle.
