We met here for a family get together as my cousins were in town from another state. It was a couple weeks ago, on a weekday. The place was more than 1/2 empty. Really good day & time to gather. Family drank a few beers, and sodas. I don't drink but had water. We were taken care of and the place looks nice and clean. Not really sure what it would look like on a weekend. I recommend based on what I saw and my experience based on a rather empty place during a Monday weekday. No one ordered food. The service was good. read more

I had so much fun here. I went with a group of friends. We got there around 10:30 and had to park down the side street. We walked in not knowing what to expect but we had a BLAST!! There is one huge room when you walk in with TVs and pool tables then next to that there is another room and that's where the magic happens. DJ was amazing. He played so many great songs. It was super easy to order drinks at the bar and the girls were super sweet. The dance floor is kinda small but we managed to dance the night away. There is a taco truck across the street and it was so good to. I wish I had the name of it but trust me... it's good and fresh. If you want to listen to some cumbias and old school music this is the place to be. I will definitely be returning to dance another night away. read more

I've been coming here since before Covid & love the place ! Especially for a small country bar on the southside! Love DJ Chris on Saturday nights & missing some of the old bartenders but new ones are good too! If you haven't been check it out, jst needs a bigger dance floor now that it has expanded! I've been to this place several times and I always have 15-25 people with me. I schedule outings for my fitness group friends and I. We have always had a great time, but unfortunately I don't think we'll be back. I reserved a couple of tables over the phone for 10/22 and paid $62. I had to cancel the reservation because my knee replacement surgery was scheduled for an earlier date than expected. I called R&Js on 10/14 and was told by the woman who answered that she couldn't process returns and to call after 8pm and speak to the manager Angel. I tried calling at 10:15pm and no answer. Then again at 10:30 and I couldn't hear because of the loud music so I hung up. I called again on 10/15 and was able to speak to Angel. He told me they don't do refunds because while the table is reserved, they can't reserve it to someone else. I reminded him that there was a week left so they could likely get it reserved in that time, but his response was "in the 2 years I've been managing this place we've never done a refund for reservations". I also advised him that I was never told there were no refunds on reservations, but that didn't matter apparently. I completely understand them keeping some of it as a deposit as that is customary for reservations, but not keeping the whole thing, especially without a written or verbal agreement. I asked to speak to the owner, but he would not give me his info. The most he would give me was his first name, Joe. He said he would speak to Joe and call me back on 10/16 and well, it's now 10/21 and still no call. It's really unfortunate that they do business this way because I would of liked to go back again in a few months after my surgery. Joe, if you read this, I would appreciate you contacting me. He apologized & stated he didnt know that the other side wasn't open but the manager was a complete asshole. He didn't even try to talk to him, just decided to throw him on the ground. Neighborhood full bar with 2 large sections (one for pool/tv watching & other for dancing/dj/live music), cold beers, great service and an added bonus of having a nice large elevated dance floor. Everything is themed outback country style as you look around at the bar decor and the signage. It is a space / bar large enough where it never really felt it was packed or overcrowded even when each table was occupied by friends/family hanging out and drinking. On a Saturday they had a DJ that was playing everything - country, reggaton, hip-hop, tejano, cumbias, pop, etc. Each bar had a bartender ready to take your order. There was also waitresses keeping up with everyone sitting around the dance floor in the 2nd room. Beers sold in buckets (your choice of a 6 or 8 beer size) and individually. They had local vodka (Titos & Deep Eddy) which impressed me as when I asked for my shots to be made with the local vodka it was $5 a shot. Call drinks were $6 for doubles. Not bad! Looking around the table tops I noticed many people brought in their own food in party trays and even cakes for those celebrating their birthday there. You can reserve a spot or table tops ($25 which includes a free bucket of beers) in advance by calling them but they do need 24 hour notice. They do a really great job of updating their Facebook page so it's worth checking out before you go to see what specials or events are happening the night you plan on going to. Parking didn't seem like an issue but we walked from the neighborhood behind the bar. Taco truck across the street is rumored to be pretty awesome too and inexpensive. read more

This is an awesome place with an on point waitstaff and love music..but the security/flashlight cop/discriminatory doorman is the worse..my personal experience is that I was singled out for having my hat turned backwards when in fact there was 3 other gentleman with there hats to the back also..but he didn't approach them like he did me..mayne it was the fact that I'm a man of color, which he was also(hispanic)..or maybe the fact that he was trying to engage in a conversation with my girl that he has been trying to hit on her for years..I don't know, but he is a POS in my book!! read more

Just horrible. First no parking, then I have to pay $5 to enter. You can go to other bats and not have to pay. I have to stand in line to get a beer, where every time I went to her she was clueless who I was, but she took my card to start a tab. Music played was bad, I was about to slit my wrist. Came for a party and had fun. They were weird about us taking up multiple tables even though we had tabs open at the bar. We were in the room with the dance floor and the speakers only seemed to be at the front of the room by the stage and they were turned up so loud. I think if they had speakers all around the room the sound would have been better. read more

The bar has an open setup and great sound system but my friends go out to drink and play pool. The two pool tables are the pits need resurfacing. There is little response the sides are dead for a$1 a play there is very little action. The cues are in even worse shape. It's a shame for a potentially very nice club. Hands down worst staff ever! There was so much drama going on with the new bar back and the bouncer it was shocking!!! The bouncer videos guest and their vehicles without consent and or valid reasons. The manager just sits in his office, no customers service. There is literally one waitress covering both sections of the bar.. they served cold food with FLIES in it - gross! I would not waste my time or money at this place. Horrible staff!!! I really liked dancing at R&J Saloon until this last Saturday. At the beginning of the last set I bought a shot and also ordered a large water and club soda. I took them back to my table, covered them with a towel so they would not be picked up, and went to dance. I came back after one song and the towel was laying on the table but the drinks were gone. I chased down the busboy and asked him what was up. He said they were empty, I had not even had one sip. I asked for a manager twice and no one came, the whole staff looked like they had no clue what a manager was. I read some previous reviews where this happened to other people and their drinks were replaced and they received an apology, I was called a liar. I don't know whether they are inept, corrupt trying to get you to buy more drinks, or they just do not want white people in their establishment. Whatever the reason, you succeeded as I will not be back. read more

Service POOR!!! I was invited by some friends here for beer . I went to refill a bucket of beer that a friend bought, I stood at bar, 3 people behind bar, only one waiting on customers. The others looked at me and went about their business. When it was my turn, I still was not waited in because apparently I wasn't in the correct part of the bar to be waited on. So these employees just looked at me. So i moved to stand directly I. Front of them and asked if I could order beer and they said yes And they just stared at me . I don't know why. They had a very difficult time asking me what I needed, when I finally placed g order , naturally it took them about 3 minutes to put 6 beers in a bucket and some ice, with no one else in line. About an hour Later when I go close my ticket, I pay , they don't return my card until I ask, and then child behind he bar tells me "for future reference I don't have to leave my card at the bar counter". So I wonder why the other bartender held on to it??? Seems like this bar is trying not to be a hole in he wall but the service will make it a hole in he wall. Wow!! Not impressed , won't return!!
