visited the Yard House last month during March Madness. It was located across the street from my hotel so that a huge plus. I did not want to have to deal with an uber. The Riverwalk was to packed with tourists. I sat at the bar as i wanted to watch March Madness. The guests I was seated next to were nice enough to let me change the channel to see basketball game I wanted to see so that was a plus. The music playing was great upbeat classic rock. The entrance to the restaurant is one floor up from the street on Commerce. Maddy was very pleasant and provided service with a smile. She was very attentive to all customers. I ordered the garlic shiitake noodles and crispy Brussels sprouts along with a tall double captain and Coke Zero. Everything was great. Before a concert I wanted something that wouldn't mess with my sensitive stomach. I enjoyed my experience so much that I returned the following day and ordered the exact same thing. Stopped by Yard House and had a really solid experience. They have a long list of vegetarian options. The Gardein menu can be found online or ask waiters and they have it on their device. I tried the Gardein Orange Chicken along with their pretzel, and both were seriously good. The orange chicken had great flavor with just the right amount of sweetness and kick, and the pretzel was warm, soft, and perfect for sharing. I came to San Antonio for a conference and stayed at a hotel conveniently located next to the Yard House, which is why I decided to have dinner there on my first night. It was very convenient after a long travel day. Since it was a Saturday night, the restaurant was quite crowded. As I was dining alone, I opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait and I'm glad I did. My meal was excellent; the salmon was especially delicious and cooked perfectly. The bar attendant was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the experience feel very welcoming. Tired and hungry, we decided to have dinner across the street from our hotel at YardHouse at the Shops at Rivercenter. I hadn't been to a YardHouse for years and wasn't expecting much, so I ended up being pleasantly surprised. It was a weekday evening and we were immediately seated even though, to my eye, it seemed pretty busy. Our waiter was amiable and semi-attentive (meaning right when we would start to think "where is he?" he'd suddenly appear). I ordered a chicken-avocado sandwich and my wife ordered the Two Pepper Jack Burger. I got regular fries with my order and she upgraded to sweet potato fries. Her burger consisted of a thick beefy patty, roasted jalapeño & poblano peppers, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle ranch. My sandwich consisted of a hunk of grilled chicken with a cumin & chili rub, avocado, Swiss cheese, roasted tomatoes, arugula, and lemon-basil aioli on a toasted brioche bun. We decided to cut our sandwiches in half and share. The chicken sandwich was exceptional. The flavors burst in my mouth. One of the better chicken sandwiches I've ever had the pleasure to consume. The burger was also excellent, thick, tender, and juicy. While she thought the heat was minimal it made my eyes water...but I can barely handle even a tiny bit of heat. Now I've spent a fair bit of time at the La Cantera location, which is solid in its own right, but this one here, right along the water, feels like something else entirely. Dare I say it, it borders on becoming a San Antonio landmark. The view alone could carry the evening if the rest didn't show up, but thankfully, everything else does. Arrived on what should have been a fairly ordinary Saturday. I came hunting for atmosphere, a bit of movement, and most importantly, a proper cold draft. And I'll tell you this, the Bud Light drafts were going down suspiciously easy. Each one tasted like the next one wanted to be ordered. Big ups there. We opened with the poke nachos, which I'll call what they are, a proper table setter. Fresh, light, and just enough flair to make you feel like you made the right decision before the mains even hit. For the main event, me and the lady split the chicken Alfredo. Not always the flashiest choice on a menu this size, but sometimes you play the hits. Creamy, well portioned, and exactly what it needed to be after a couple of cold ones and a Riverwalk breeze. But let me be clear, this place is more than the food. It's the setting, the energy, the people walking by like you're in the middle of something bigger. You sit there long enough and you start to feel like you belong to the rhythm of the river itself. My family and I visited the Commerce Street location in San Antonio, for dinner. At the same time, the San Antonio Spurs were playing the Oklahoma Thunder. It was understandably loud, with cheering fans. So atmosphere was good and electric. The waitress and host staff were very pleasant. At one poitn she was busy with another large table but she sent a colleague over to check on us and take our order. That was great. So we of course tipped her to the max. But let's talk about the food. We ordered shrimp skewers for the kids. 2 orders each kid as she recommended, and french fries in between them. They gulfed them down. Thanks to her again. My wife and I ordered the 20oz T-Bone and WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Flat, rubbery, and ABSOLUTELY No seasoning at all. No spec of salt. not spec of black pepper. Totally inedible. I mentioned to the waitress and she informed the manager, Mikey, but he had no time for us but had time for what seems to have been 'regulars'. Not an apology or anything. I explained to the waitress that we paid for it to show it was not about the money. But we left HALF of the steak on the plate no matter how we tried to force it down. BUT MIKEY Had no time . But the food was average, and the manager was a big disappointment. Our friend has a severe shellfish allergy, and even though they have an allergen guide, the manager couldn't assure her that there would be no cross-contamination. He made our dining experience enjoyable without being pushy. The interior has a very laid-back vibe. Even though it's right on the Riverwalk, it's chill and relaxing. I ordered the 2 Taco Combo with rice and beans, along with the Kids' Mac and Cheese with fries. My child loved her meal. Amazing beer selection as always. The steak bowl with Gardein chicken was surprisingly awesome--I am used to gardein bowls being watery and bland. The one was savory through and through. The steamed edamame was not something I would get again. It was overcooked, the salt was only on top, and there was an oily coating. The beans were soft and would come out in all directions or none at all. Don't get this if you're on a first date. The vegan and beer options were so extensive that I ate there 2 more times while I was in town (it helped that it was accessible through a tunnel connected to my hotel). We ordered a cheese pizza, steak bites with fries from the kids' menu, and the kids devoured their food--so it definitely hit. We also ordered a 10-piece order of wings with Korean chili garlic and lemon pepper dry rub as our mains. The kitchen accidentally sent whiskey black pepper wings instead of the lemon pepper, but Reese quickly corrected it and brought out another order with the correct flavors--so we ended up with extra wings to go. I had the Thai grilled pork chops with cauliflower fried rice and veggies, which were thick, juicy, and full of flavor without being too heavy. They have this really annoying thing where you can also order on a tablet, but the tablet sucks and doesn't have the same functionality and customization as a real person. Came to Yard House for lunch on a Monday with a group of six while attending a conference at the Marriott. Even with a larger group, they seated us quickly and without any issue. One person in our group is gluten-free and they immediately brought her a dedicated gluten-free menu with plenty of options, which was great. I ordered a hot tea. It was fine, but it seemed like they only had one type; I wasn't given any choices or asked if I preferred caffeine or decaf. For my meal, I got the steak bowl. It was okay overall, but the steak was overcooked (I ordered medium) and the bowl itself was pretty low on flavor. Someone else in our group ordered the same thing and we noticed our plates looked quite different: mine had more vegetables while hers had noticeably more rice. Two people at the table had eaten at Yard House over the weekend and raved about their experience, so I'm wondering if our less impressive meal was just a Monday thing. The waiter was just okay. Never smiled and didn't seem to enjoy working there. No engagement with us but he did the job. He was attentive and brought a refill Lemonade without us asking. My steak was prepared perfectly, however hers was well done. We sent it back and the waiter apologized. A manager also stopped by our table and apologized. We were staying at the Hyatt Hotel nearby and were looking to find a place to watch the Miami versus Florida State football game. My husband suggested this place and it was a great idea. They have plenty of booth, Hightop and bar seating. They also put the game on a tv right in front of our table when we requested it. Our server, Daniel, quickly came over to take our drink orders. I ate at Yard House in Orlando and really enjoyed it, so I was happy to see one right outside my hotel in San Antonio. I just wanted to get some food to take back and relax in my room after a long day at a conference. I ordered the calamari and the buffalo chicken pizza and a glass of wine while I waited at the bar. The service was just okay, seemed like a long wait for what I ordered. Because my food was to go, there was an upcharge, what? Dumbest thing I ever heard. The food was a disappointment, calamari was rubbery with an awful sauce, seemed like a failed attempt at tartar sauce. The pizza was okay flavor-wise, but the chicken was really dry. The atmosphere was chill but still had a nice buzz in the air for a weeknight. The midnight sangria paired perfect with the margherita pizza, which was absolutely delicious! The thin crust and light red sauce made it light enough to indulge in late at night and for someone who doesn't typically like tomatoes ended up loving them in this dish! My husband vouched their burger was amazing as well! It was so good we actually went back the next day and tried different dishes! I typically visit this location a couple times a year. Today I had the cobb salad with grilled shrimp. The salad dressing is delicious. The ingredients are very fresh. I really enjoyed the edamame and radishes included in the salad and the shrimp had a great flavor with good seasoning. The restaurant looked like it had been through a pretty busy lunch as there were quite a few dirty tables and the table we were seated at had debris underneath it. Our server was a bit overwhelmed with several other tables they were attempting to wait on. We found a manager and he took our order. However, getting drink refills and just in general maintenance of the table was very lacking. I don't know that it was the server's fault although they did tell us that they didn't particularly like working. Maybe a better day tomorrow. read more

Typical sandwich, burger, flatbreads, and salads you would expect. Nashville hot chicken sandwich cooked so well, and the chicken was thick and juicy. Appetizers: Flatbread pizza was so good, and flavorful. Steak and blue cheese crumbles on a light doughy flatbread! Bar: alcoholic drinks were well mixed and not overpowering. Bar was clean, and well lit. Dinning Area: large size, open concept. Plenty seating! Prices: Relatively cheap. Chicken sandwich and blue cheese flatbread, tall twisted tea....$35 Parking: mall, shared lot, wrap around just off the main road. Garage. L A little hard to get back out...have to back onto the main road. Lots if construction. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and large in size. Atmosphere: During the Sunday afternoon football season, pretty steady, but not unmanageable. Staff/Attendants: bar tender was Great and highly motivated, very nice, and relatively attentive.
