I really did not want to write this as I know this is someone's business. But the more I thought about it the more I thought well it's people's hard earned money and they need to know. Promised me a new bathroom remodel. He did an amazing job until it got to the shower doors. All of a sudden he wanted more money (he said he ran out of money). He did fall behind his original completed work date by over 2 months and never came to finish the work. I am not sure why you bid a job and I agree then at the final walk through you suddenly need more money? So, to be fair we did come to an agreement for me not to pay him the final payment although it will cost me more to get the job done. Now I have a leak in the shower floor so I called him to take a look. His response was that I did not pay him the final payment. What a joke. No matter if you have it in writing he will not honor it and want more money at the end to hold you hostage until you cave in or settle for him to just walk away and make what he didn't want to do your issue. His warranty is obviously useless. Don't say you weren't warned. Go somewhere else with less headache and lies. read more

What a smooth process and incredible outcome! I hired R & L Services for a vacant 1,000 sq foot condo rental in Palm Lake. Luis was on time for the in person estimate, beat out other offers, and was early to start the job! The work came out perfect and he was even able to help me drywall a hole around the washer and dryer units. They painted the ceilings, walls, inside of closets, and smoothed out areas of the wall where my tenant had tried to fill from tv mounts. There is a reason why this guy has so many one star reviews. It's because this guy is a total liar. Nothing he says is true. I never squabbled about the price like he said I did. In fact I originally offered to pay him more than he asked for. Straight up Liar. First, I was going to pay him $250 and then he said it would be an additional $300. I was fine with paying him $550 for a job that would only take half day. But this man blew off the customer several times. And he didn't have the decency to answer the phone when I tried to contact him or the customer tried to contact him to find out why he didn't show up! The response time from contact was great and we had it set up for the following week. My job consisted of painting as well as replacing and painting some of the frames around the doors. For an outside job, I was surprised at how protective they were of the patio. They masked and taped off areas and even used plastic on the patio floor to keep it clean. The crew could not have been nicer and were very easy to communicate with. Their work exceeded my expectations. Clean up was great and they hauled away all the replaced wood and their debris. When faced with the job of renovating an inherited condo for sale, we initially contacted Luis for an estimate to paint the unit. Not only did Luis show up to our first meeting early, he asked us questions regarding the scope of work we planned to do, beyond painting. Was renovating two bathrooms in our vacation home in Palm Springs and was in town for the weekend to get bids from contractors. Set an appointment for R & L to give us a bid. The morning of the appointment we were up early even though we flew in late the night before. After waiting for half an hour after the time they said they would arrive, we called them and also messaged to find out when they would arrive. We never got a call or message back from them to explain what happened or to reschedule the appointment. After reading the reviews it seems like others have experienced the same fate with R & L. Never got a chance to work with them but after a no-call, no-show AND no return call I think it speaks volumes about the character of this company. We interviewed five recommended contractors and instantly found Luis the most personable, reliable, relatable and he had reasonable prices. We live in Los Angeles and could not always be there but his friendly crew always showed up on time, never missing a day, and they did a conscientious and thorough job prepping, removing the orange peel texture, painting, lifting ceilings, putting on new floors, and fixing electrical problems. I don't give out 5 stars unless I'm really impressed and I was with Luis, Beto and his team. Thru Yelp, I requested quotes from four different painters to repaint the trim on our 1958 Alexander. Luis responded promptly within minutes of my late night request. We set an appointment for the following morning and he arrived exactly on time. He walked the property, took a few pics and by the next morning, replied with a quote via email and his Insurance information. I selected him based on a fair price, his ability to complete the job within days and how easy it was to communicate and get info from him. The trim had many coats of peeling, washed out paint so they did a ton of prep, sealed and smoothed the divots in the old wood with elastomeric and applied a coat of high quality Evershield. I contacted Luis for stucco repair and paint work. He never looked at the work, but quoted me over the phone. We scheduled the work for 8:00 AM the following week. 8:00 AM arrived, but Luis did not; no phone call or notification that he was not coming! At 12:00 PM the same day I reached out to Luis; he apologized and assured me that he would be there at 9:00 AM the following day. Additionally, he requested that I make sure the paint was ready. 9:00 AM arrived, but Luis did not. He thankfully text me at 10:00 AM and stated he would not be able to do the work due to employee issues, but again assured me that he would be there the following day at 11:00 AM. I drove from San Diego to meet Luis at 11:00 AM and again no show or call! I would steer clear if dependability and reliability is what you are looking for. read more

We closed Escrow and needed to repaint, new floors, convert a storage room into a closet and demo 2 fireplace mantels. We got 3 different quotes to do the individual jobs but I wanted someone to do the complete job. Luis's first bid was on the painting of the home and to be honest he was very expensive and almost double what another bid was so I called and spoke with him and we talked about the total job and he came back to me with a total bid broken down by the job and he matched all the prior bids so we gave him the job. The home was empty so he could start right away and his crew showed up on time and was ready to go and the paint turned out beautiful. Once that was completed they started on the flooring and that also turned out beautiful. Luis, then rebuilt the storage area into a closet and demo'd the fireplaces. There was only one issue which Luis forget to do which was the flooring around the mantels he had demo'd, however he had his crew come back out and finish the job perfectly. Luis always responded quickly and never backed away from any concerns I had during the job. I would highly recommend Luis and will use him again as we move forward with more projects on our home. This is a difficult review because Luis is likable and the paint/tile job was completed at a competitive price. But the overall experience was challenging. I spent $13k on tile install (80% of the house) AND interior painting for the entire interior of my 2200 sqft Palm Springs home. This was for both labor AND materials. A good price. Many of the pictures you see above are of my home. I allowed Luis to use them. I told him I was going to write this review and spoke to him about the challenges I encountered. He seemed to take-on the advice I gave him, as well as apologized, so hopefully he will improve the problem areas I mention below. Luis has challenges keeping promises with appointments. Other Yelp reviewers say this too. Again the price is good but my patience wore thin. He finished the job around the time he promised, but re-work was needed. He did not supervise his workers, and they left a mess including broken tiles that were newly installed. They clogged my garbage disposal, dumped leftover paint or mastic on my plants, left the airconditioner on for 2 weeks straight. Plus a host of other things. He fixed all of the broken items, but again patience was needed to get the job fully done and I was not happy with the way I found things. Had he supervised his team, and did a final walk though before I came back to my home, I would not be writing this. My advice: His pricing is attractive, and the job they do (paint and tile) is A- quality. If you use him, keep on top of him and remind him of appointments. You (or someone else you trust) should be on the job site daily to check-in. Structure payments based upon progress. His paperwork was loose but he did not cheat me. After a thorough clean-up and minor fixes we are happy with the results. read more

It's hard to find more hardworking and realiable construction workers than Luis and his team. They worked on our house in Cathedral City to remove wallpaper, remove carpet, put down new flooring, install new doors and repaint all of our four bedrooms and hallway, and we couldn't be more pleased with their work. They are the hardest workers I've ever come across, always on time, very reliable, clean, polite, and very responsive to any changes you might have along the way. We had quite a few and they were all met very professionally and promptly, nothing was ever a problem and we felt like they really went out of their way to please us, which is a nice change compared to other services that we've had.
