This time, we ordered takeout from NSL R&R BBQ. It's one of our favorite restaurants to get food. Brisket is the absolute best, along with their baked potatoes ( which is two meals in one, as it is very filling). We've also had different dinner plates, salads, and more. Everyone will find something to fill their tummy. Peach cobbler is tasty. Service has always been wonderful. Courteous, friendly, efficient. It's a pleasant in-house dining as well. I ordered a 2M plate here to go and while the service was quick and friendly, the food left much to be desired. The chicken was delicious as were the hush puppies, but the pulled pork was dry and pure fat, and my side salad had frozen chunks of lettuce and cucumber and way too many chopped tomatoes. I ended up tossing the salad and most of the pulled pork which was disappointing. Once vegetables are frozen like that they're just inedible. I don't know much about bbq but from what I gathered from my $18 meal this was just ok. Luckily the chicken and hush puppies filled me up but for that price i think there's too many other options around the area I'd go for first. read more

My warning to anyone thinking about ordering catering. I ordered catering for 30 people and specifically discussed the sandwich buffet in person with Dorie. During our conversation, she told me multiple times that the order included 1/2 pound of meat per person. I remember that conversation clearly because I actually questioned whether that seemed like too much meat for sandwiches. We spent several minutes discussing it, and Dorie explained why 1/2 pound per person was the correct amount. That conversation is exactly why I chose the catering package. The catering price was about $16 per person. Yet in the restaurant, sandwiches are only about $12 for pork or chicken and $14.50 for brisket. I could have simply ordered individual sandwiches for much less. I also compared the catering option to buying everything à la carte--15 pounds of meat, three dozen rolls, mac and cheese, and coleslaw--and the total came out to about the same. The pricing matched what Dorie had told me I would receive. Instead, I received approximately 7.5 pounds of meat total--about 1/4 pound per person. The order consisted of 1.87 pounds of chicken (which wasn't even chopped for sandwiches), 1.87 pounds of pulled pork, and 3.75 pounds of brisket, along with half pans of mac and cheese and coleslaw. There wasn't nearly enough food. When I called in a panic, I was told this was exactly what I had ordered. They agreed to bring more meat, but then charged me again (at a discount) for the additional meat instead of acknowledging what I had been told when I placed the order. There were also several other problems: * The large nachos were left off the order. * The chicken wasn't chopped for sandwiches. * I was charged the brisket upcharge for all 30 people even though only about half of the meat was brisket. What I still can't understand is this: If the company is correct that the catering package only included 1/4 pound of meat per person, why was I paying almost $500 (before paying another $90 to bring more meat)? Buying the equivalent amount of meat, sides, buns, and utensils à la carte would have been about $330, plus the $35 delivery fee. And if it truly was only enough meat for one sandwich per person, why was I paying significantly more than simply ordering sandwiches directly from the restaurant? The numbers simply don't add up. Mistakes happen, and I would have been understanding if someone had acknowledged the mistake and worked to make it right. Instead, I was told I received exactly what I ordered, and was charged another $90 to get food I already bought for my guests. Love a good barbecue! They have daily specials and I decided to try the pineapple pork sandwich. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! We wet during lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. The staff was friendly and brought our food out when it was ready, everything tasted fresh, there's sauces on the tables and to-go boxes readily by the drink fountains. I decided to have a salad. And I wanted a good salad. I decided I was going to have whatever variety a restaurant had. I hadn't chosen R&R yet. I was driving past, saw the restaurant, and pulled in. It went into look at the menu to see if they had a salad to go. They do some restaurants don't offer a very good salad.Just maybe some lettuce and Chunky tomatoes and everybody thinks everybody wants cheese on their salad, I don't. So I decided to risk it and order the salad with me and chose the brisket. I placed my order to go. As I was sitting there , they called my name the salad was ready , but I remembered that I was going to order the scones , so I went over and ordered the scones , so I had to sit there and wait. No big deal , I decided to eat my salad and I was pleasantly surprised with the actual salad itself. There were different types of lettuce in it big pieces of cucumber , but not so big that you had to eat it with one hand, The red onion was really good, but it was sliced too big.But it's still good salad. And there were a generous portion of chopped tomatoes. Sometimes I don't eat dressing. Tonight was one of those nights. My green salad was fabulous. But I was really , really disappointed with the brisket. Maybe if I had ordered to stay , they would not have given me as much fat as they did. I am talking.There was a slab of fat and they cut it in squares and I was given some squares of fat. Almost half of the meat was very fatty.I understand brisket is going to have fat but I wonder if I had ordered my food in the restaurant if I would have received less fat. Yeah, sometimes really good barbecued.Fat tastes great , but that's a lot of fat. Are set up like a regular barbecue restaurant.Nothing fancy , you know , metal chairs and some benches , but it's got a very nice ambiance for barbecue. Bring your family, bring your date.Bring a group of friends and have some good food.Hopefully , you won't get as much fat as I received on my plate on my salad of all things. I should have taken a picture of the actual salad, it was fabulous. I should have also taken a picture of all of that fat. I didn't have my phone with me because I was going to take it to go. AS BBQ Goes, R&R definitely does a great job. I eat here routinely with Business clients and there is never a complaint. Let' s face it. Visited the north salt lake location on 06/21 at around 5 pm for Father's Day dinner. Upon our arrival, employees were running around, looking confused and not sure what they were doing. There were four of us in the party two of us attempted to order 2- 2 meat plates with the chicken and turkey only to be told they were out of Turkey and brisket. I figured OK well being Father's Day they probably ran out so I decided to go with the chicken and the ribs on my plate. The second person with me just wanted to try the chicken chicken and turkey as well but as the restaurant was out of turkey, she decided to do the pulled pork and the chicken. The other two people of our party had the three plates and we're looking forward to trying a turkey chicken and the brisket but once again since there was no turkey or brisket available, they went with chicken, ribs and pulled pork. The chicken was the worst I had ever tasted very dry and and tasteless, the ribs were way overcooked and could not even be cut with a knife. I have always thought ribs were supposed to be fall off the bone the meat on these ribs couldn't even be pulled off by a tow truck. The table we were seating at only had two sauces available. I wanted these sweet barbecue sauce in the original. I looked around at some of the other tables which were empty to see if I could find the rest of the sauces, but there were none to be found so I asked one of the employees if I could get some original barbecue sauce and some sweet barbecue sauce she told me no that they had been out of those two sauces for the last two weeks wonderful. Sitting very disappointed in all of us began to try to make the best of the mail. We all went to the sort of machine together drinks when we got there the counter where the machine machines were filthy they had not been wiped off, trash on the floor which had not been swept up, and the tables had not been wiped off. Our hands were sticking to the table. Between the four of us with drinks and everything our bill changed almost $100 plus we left a good portion tip on top of that for a very disappointing meal. Needless to say we will not be returning at any R&R barbecue locations anytime soon. Pat's barbecue in my opinion is a much better choice for not only the service, but the quality and quantity of food. read more

We ordered a family deal for six with chicken added on. The chicken was dry. The portions were way too small. The brisket was like rubbery fat cubes. We were worried if there was going to be enough so everyone cut back on what they'd normally take. I barely took any. Won't be going here again. Very disappointed. read more

I go to R&R from time to time when in the area and my experiences range from quite good to .....decent. Last week, I tried the pulled pork sandwich w/ cole slaw and mac and cheese and banana pudding to finish. The pulled pork sandwich was really good and I like the different sauces you can try on the table. Cole slaw is a great addition to the sandwich (a bit extra). The mac n cheese is really good and the portion size is very fair. The banana pudding is all time - super super delicious. I've tried the peach cobbler too and it's really great with the ice cream scoop. It's a very popular place with fair prices in Woods Cross. Some items are better than others, IMO. I usually go for the 2 or 3 meat plates, but it seems that the better choice are the sandwiches. The meat from the 2 or 3 meat plate meals doesn't come out hot enough to my liking. The restaurant looks really nice and it smells absolutely fantastic, but I do have some constructive criticism. I would rather have two slices of thick cut brisket, then four or five slices of very thin bacon thickness. When you cut it, then it dries out as not as moist and juicy. read more

Only giving 3 stars - the food is great IF they have it. So often we go at like 5pm and they've run out of baked potatoes or brisket or cobbler. I get it if it were close to closing time and they've run out of something, but early in the evening seems like poor planning. And thus hasn't just happened once - this happens almost every time we go to eat or plave an order. We have never had this issue at the downtown location. read more

The hostess asked us to make sure we saw the sign that showed everything they were sold out of. As soon as we began to order anyway she was very rude and disrespectful. I'm disappointed in my food especially when I paid to order the food, I left 15% tips since my friend recommended here and they seems have very good reviews on google 4.3/5, but on yelp only 3.5/5, that's almost a failed business. My problem is the fries I got is very dry and most likely are leftover , while I'm eating them I found out my friend's fries they ordered looks like white and soft, I realized the reason why it's so hard to eat my fries and I don't know if that's an accident for me to get that leftover fries or something else , also the food I ordered I forgot the name, I only ate less than half, it's very salty n don't like it at all I didn't get any service, i don't know why they charge tips read more

I don't know how this place stays in business they are always out of the things that people want they're out of ribs they're out of chicken they're out of brisket. The staff many times thinks it's funny to have to tell people that they're out of things, it's as if they wear it maybe as a badge of honor that at 5 o'clock they don't have any of the meats that people would expect for the dinner service, like that's a funny awesome thing for the staff. This location is actively run by what appear to be high school kids Which would be fine if they had any level of training to be in a customer facing position. In this case it's as if whatever regional manager is in charge of this location has just thrown their hands up and said well we'll just let it run however it runs and I guess the dumb people of Davis County will just keep spending their money for a more expensive product and a worse level of service. read more

Today my family participated in a barbecue taste off and R&R BBQ was one of the six participants. I have enjoyed R&R in the past, but was looking forward to comparing their pulled pork with five others. I believe they were cooking it onsite, so it was fresh and warm. The meat was tender and not too fatty. However, the flavor was much more smokey than I prefer. Not that it was bad, just not my preference. I'll continue to come in to the restaurant and order other items. But if they are smoking it onsite somewhere, I may see what else is on the menu. Their service has always been fantastic-you can tell the employees enjoy their jobs, or at least make it appear that way. :-) read more

Delicious brisket and cream corn along with fresh bread. Did not love the ribs, but everything else was wonderful!

I ordered the three meat plate with ribs, brisket (for an extra charge) and pulled pork with creamed corn on the side and it comes with hush puppies or a dinner roll, which I chose hush puppies. They were out of pulled pork, so I got the turkey instead. The ribs and brisket were good. The brisket had a LOT of fat on it, but it was tender and smoke flavored, so I ate it all. The turkey was nothing special at all, but was okay with enough BBQ sauce on it to hive it flavor. The hush puppies were a bit dry and lacking any real flavor. Overall, the food was probably 7 out of 10. What I didn't like was the overall setup... order at the counter, they give you a number and your drink cup to get your own drink and stuff. Most of the tables were empty and dirty. I found the cleanest table I could find and they have paper towel dispensers on the table but mine was empty, so I swapped it with one from the dirty table next to me. They brought out my food and I was looking for eating utensils. I had to go back up to the counter to ask where utensils were. I was told that they are between the soda machines. There it was... one of those machines that dispenses a weird shaped plastic knife, fork or spoon when you pull on it, and a new one takes its place. It worked, but the plastic wear is odd. It seemed weird to pay $20+ for lunch that I had to eat with weird plastic utensils in a dirty restaurant where there were extremely few customers. I now know why there were not many people there. Overall: Somewhat okay BBQ, poor surroundings, and service. read more
