If you're allergic to truffles, you'll probably break out in hives if you get within 30 feet of R Bar. The patio is nice, and the blackened salmon salad is good. But dumping half a bottle of truffle oil on every dish and charging $16 is no bueno. read more

Excellent service. Due to a mislabeled keg, we were served the wrong beer. We had never had the beer we wanted (f5) but had specifically come here to try it, so we didn't notice the swap. Our server, however, picked up on a comment we made about the flavor profile, went and tasted the keg, and recognized the mistake. She comped our beers and explained what happened. What class! The food was phenomenal- a knock out panzanella, great veggie burger with nice texture, good fries. Highly recommend. read more

The best thing I tried, was my drink "flannel". It was mixed perfectly, but can't say it was worth the price. There is a strong apple cider beer that was lived by all, but beware, because it sneaks up on you. Beyond that, I personally didn't like the flavor profiles led. E writhing I tasted was very "smoky", as if they added liquid smoke to their recipes. However, my fellow diners enjoyed themselves. One had the meatloaf, ribeye, and Mac n cheese. Again, all smoke flavored, which is something that made them enjoy it. I only like smoke when there is bbq. Overall, I won't be going back, but if you enjoy the above flavors, you won't be disappointed. read more

Was happy to get out of the cold on a Thursday night with immediate seating (open, no hostess). Drink and food service was extremely quick from time of order. Highly enjoyed the ginger margarita (flavorful and potent). Three Pigglets sandwich was a miss for me, however. Requested bbq sauce to help the dryness and mild flavor. Mango rice was interesting--but honestly could have been mashed potatoes or cauliflower for all I knew. Dining area was tight and a bit rigid with the wooded seating. I have only gone to R Bar for brunch and never eaten there for dinner so I was kind of hoping that they would have something different than the dessert that they did. But I really wasn't that disappointed because it was nice to have a switch up along the way of our Taste of Brookside tour. They had some sort of chocolate covered toffee sprinkled with what I believe was coconut and or sea salt. Their signature drink was a red sangria and it was very good. I actually think this is the same dessert they made for the Blank Canvas but I really liked it then so it was a treat to have it again! read more

Ugh I want to love R Bar as much as everyone else does, because all the ingredients are there--they have an awesome Bar and a great selection of brews, a lovely patio with fans and a pet-friendly environment, and a yummy brunch. For me, the food and the service have been super inconsistent, so it's hard to provide an accurate rating. If we're talking solely about the service at the bar, this place is great. But when you factor in service other places, and the food generally, I have to knock down a star. Absolutely horrible!!! The management is horrific and mean to their customers. I went to the restroom not long before my two girlfriends and I planned to leave (we had already paid our check), and I came out of the restroom only to be greeted by two men who worked there. They immediately got in my face and accused me of making loud noises in the bathroom... ? They then told our waitress very loudly, and right next to us, to "tab us out," and then one of them came to our table and told us we needed to "get out of his bar." He then said, "the door in the bathroom is broken so you better leave before I hit you with a repair bill." This made absolutely zero sense and we still have no idea what he was talking about. He was terribly rude and disgusting towards me and my friends, and he was extremely offensive. He will never receive mine or my friends' business again. Do not go to this bar. Seriously. read more

Joined R Bar for late Mother's Day lunch at recommendation of our son who'd been there before. The service from Marselle was excellent and our food was brought out quickly and tasted delicious. One of my favorite spots in town. Great for Sunday football. They have great food and great draft options. Sunday they have a brunch menu and they've recently changed it, which I'm happy about because we come here so often and I was ready for a change. The regular menu is fantastic and they execute well. This place is a great place to get the night started before going out with friends for the weekend. The inside dining area isn't that big but they do have covered patio seating that's heated for the cold nights and they believe they take the cover off during the day. They have a couple huge tv's if you like sports showing the games and the music playlist when I go which is when the sun is down. Is always really good. I food on the other hand is hit and miss. I ordered Wag burger which was really good but I always tasted the steak and I had to flush it down with water. There just wasn't a lot of seasoning and just had a bland taste. Let's just say I ended up sharing half my burger. The chips and queso was decent but you really can't mess up chips and queso. The serves were good and food came up in about 15 to 20mins. All and all the this is a bar so its probably best to stick with bar food at this place. Oh, and the drinks were AMAZING. read more

Between $5 burgers on Mondays and $5 pizzas on Wednesday with a great beer menu, you can bet I'm a regular here. I am so excited R Bar is in Brookside and has such a diverse crowd. In my opinion, there is no 'stereotypical bar hopper' here. Everyone is welcoming and the atmosphere always feels special. My favorite part of R Bar is this patio set for prime people watching over Brookside. There are also a few televisions lined around for your viewing pleasure, too! In the cooler months, it is enclosed with excellent heaters. Whenever I'm not broadening my beer knowledge with their extensive and reasonable menu, I'm trying one of their fantastic entrees! My most recent meal here was the French Dip with truffle fries. The French dip had a generous amount of beef and the bread tasted fresh. The au jus was seasoned perfectly and had a nice touch of some soft onions inside. The truffles fries were perfectly fried for a great pairing. I would say by now I am a regular here. I can always expect them to have a beer if not a numeral amount that I will certainly enjoy. As far as cocktails go I've never had any that I was very fond of on their drink menu BUT I know many that love them so take that with a grain of salt. I have them make me normal drinks off the menu (i.e. Old Fashioned). If anything come here for the delicious food! I finally on this last trip tried the chicken and waffles others rave about so much. I will definitely have this dish again and recommend it to anyone a fan of chicken and waffles. My other favorite is the Royale Burger with the red onion jam. Mmmm! They make in house Herb Ketchup and Honey Mustard that I love with their truffle sage fries. On a side note, I hate their cloth napkins. If you are wearing dark colors at all, be it your shirt and especially pants expect to get them covered in white fluffs as what happens to me each time I am here. Currently scattered all over my blue jeans because I forgot about the dang thing. Also, if you sit outside expect there to be flies (under nature's control), just a fair warning! Overall this place is friendly, inviting and a must here in Tulsa. I return here at least every few weeks and recommend it to all crowds. The patio is a great touch and inside isn't too dark or drab, and wonderful clean bathrooms!! They never seem to get TOO crowded. Not a good first impression. When we got to the restaurant, there was no hostess. We walked around not knowing if we should seat ourselves and the waitress just looked at us twice without saying anything. We finally sat down at the only table available which was awkwardly placed in the corner, lower than all the other bar style tables. The seat was too low for the table making it uncomfortable to eat. We started off with the crab dip, which had a runny consistency. It was too creamy and didn't come with enough crostinis. The flavor itself was good though, but I would have preferred a firmer texture to the dip. For the main dish, I went with the short ribs and my boyfriend had the meatloaf. The ribs tasted fine, but had a lot of fat on it. The fries that came with it were very oily. My boyfriend really liked his dish, so I think I will go for the meatloaf if we decide to come back. Things that I really didn't like were the oily fingerprints all around my dish, the dish towel napkins that shed profusely, the clientele, how extremely loud it was inside and the price of the overall meal for subpar food. Wouldn't recommend this place for dinner, but it might be fun just to hang out. read more

Huge fan of R Bar after just one visit. Made our first stop here for a drink and bite to eat after getting into town on a Friday. Arrived around 3:45 and sat our selves on the patio. We were recommended to get the Chicken Cigars (taquitos) so we did, two orders between four of us and we dominated them. Our waitress tried to convince us one would be enough...little did she know. They come with an amazing spicy bbq dipping sauce that I literally finished off with just my fork. For drinks I did the Lavender Sour but switched gin for vodka, I loved it. Oh Lord...I've died and gone to Heaven! Ken and I ate there tonight on a groupon and the food was just amazing!!! I went here when I first moved to Tulsa since it was close to Utica and I wanted to stop somewhere new for lunch with patio seating. The food here is great and not typical bar food you get at most places. They are a GREAT place for brunch as well as any other meal you may want to go their food. They make creative versions of everyday food and it is a fair price. They as well have Moscow Mules made with their homemade ginger beer and it is easily one of the best drinks I have had! The seating in here is compact so if you go at night or for brunch make sure to get their early or at an odd hour. It is hard to find a place to sit when it is packed. Many people as well come here at night and it is a great place to hang out with friends and not have music blaring in the bathroom. This establishment has really grown on me. The first couple of times I went the service needed improvement but since then we have seen that the food has started to make up for it. Apps: The fried mushrooms are wonderful. Fried green beans also make my list for great starters. The French fries are a must! Savory but also herbed, if you do not get them you will be sorry. Lunch items: Sandwiches are yummy in particular the veggie sandwich was pretty darn good. My wife enjoys the French Dip and/or a pizza. Dinner Menu: This is the treasure chest of this restaurant. Some will tell you get the pizza or the burger, you can but really the items you will want are the heavier entrees. The meatloaf is one of the better I have tried around Tulsa and also the Brauts!!! My advice would be see what the special offering is and by that I mean seasonal items or the chef's special for the week/month. R Bar's take on down home cooking has been pleasing to my palate.
