My family has loved Houligans for as long as I can remember. Even before everybody moved here, when we would come and visit extended family, we always would come. The chicken fried steak is the best in town, but the real showstopper is the fried shrimp. They are huge! Chicken tenders are also a solid option here. The waffle fries and gravy... I could eat those all day, every day if it wouldn't make me as big as a house. This place stays very busy all day long, but the staff are fast, friendly, and they do a good job of turning tables. Before ordering, I snagged a 41 Peaks IPA from the bar... it was refreshing and seemed to come from a nice clean beer line. The waitress recommended the chicken fried steak because it comes with the white gravy Tulsa is known for as well as the green beans The Bros Houligan are known for. The salad arrived quickly and the rest of the meal not too long after that. First off, the honey mustard dressing on the salad appeared to be homemade and was super tasty! Second, this thing was the small portion?! They hand bread everything there, and you can tell. It breading wasn't too heavy nor too greasy. The gravy was solid. I could tell the green beans were super tasty, but were made with an ingredient that gave off the flavor you might find in a Belgian or wheat beer (isoamyl acetate), which I'm pretty sensitive to and not a fan of. The Bros Houligan has become a staple in our family. Walking in is like taking a step back in time when your local eatery knew your name. The staff is always friendly and courteous, you seldom wait for your drinks and order to be taken and the food arrives hot from the kitchen. We enjoy the variety of dishes on the menu, have become huge fans of the gravy and it is unique to ask for extra and not have to be hassled with little charges for those special requests. Since Cancer Treatment, I have had to drink more liquid than usual and the staff keeps my drink full as soon as I get half way through. The ambience reminds me of a time passed, nicely lit but not overly bright, the tables are always clean and I have seen the staff attack the most disrespectful messes until the table is ready for the next guest. We love this place and hope to enjoy its for years to come. read more

Brought my fiance and her sister here to get a Long Island Iced Tea and they enjoyed themselves. This was their first time here and they are already wanting to come back. Ther service was very personalable and delightful which made for an easy visit, plus the vibe was comfortable and cozy. food i'd suggested to momma that we go to the restaurant to share a dessert, telling her that i thought the southern comfort style restaurant would feature a cobbler. however, when we sat down at the table, i did not see any desserts on the primary menu and three desserts on a feature menu. therefore, after asking if the restaurant offers any dessert in addition to the three we had seen, our server told us that while the desserts on the menu all taste good, guests typically do not come to the restaurant for just dessert. and the server even gave such consideration as to offer alternative restaurants for dessert, in case none of the menu options piqued our interest. further, the first alternative our server suggested was the andy frozen custard location at the building next door on yale, where i've worked previously. and though the dessert dish is one that can be imitated in a frozen custard concrete, by selecting cheesecake bites and melted chocolate shell as toppings, i'd assert that the cheesecake, with or without chocolate shell, serves as a dessert item that is complementary to the traditional southern style menu with a dessert that stands apart as an elegant last course. service the service was friendly and kind, with one standout moment to me being the skill our server displayed when coming to the table with drinks and seeing our menus on the end of table. the greeting subtlety suggested to me that, while the server did not identify us as regulars, she did not want to assume that conclusion, considering that menus on the end of a table so soon into a restaurant experience is often suggestive of being a regular diner. ambiance the ambiance achieves a delicate balance between traditional homestyle southern cooking and upscale dining. i've eaten at the restaurant once before that i recall, earlier in the day, and think the way i perceive the restaurant actually shifts from traditional to upscale as the day progresses from lunch hours to evening and night. all in all, i'd recommend the restaurant as an ideal upscale traditional southern restaurant in tulsa and surrounding suburbs. read more

We walked into locally owned Brothers Hooligan, and noticed the tables and chairs were well worn. We were surprised the entire place was crowed with regulars on a Sunday night at 6:30. My husband had a grilled pork chop which came with apple sauce and never ending green beans (they are to die for!) I got three good sized nicely spiced crab cakes with light batter, coleslaw, green beans, mashed potatoes and added an order of homemade apple sauce. It was scrumptious. I had a beer and my husband got a cheese cake for dessert. It was all just $34. So much for so little. Shout out to Jake and Veronica, who gave us fantastic service. You can tell people have worked there for quite awhile because they enjoy it, and work well together making it a feel good atmosphere. The place is spotless, and we heard the ice machine is cleaned out every week, the salt and pepper shakers are washed three times each time, multiple times a week, along with every other surface. Sat at the small bar to watch football and was not impressed by the service. I ordered the oinion rings after sitting empty. they were mush. the bartender never asked how I was or the order. when checking out I motioned to him quietly to tell him how awful they were and he said he was going to the manager. I watched and heard her say"but she ate most of them". I went up to her and told her I was never asked how they were and I ate them because I was hungry. she never apologized and went to the bartender to tell him In front of customers. they excused the rings from the bill I tipped him well but I would never go back. she acted like it was my fault and I was getting away with it. My husband and my 17 year old all went here for an early supper and I had the shrimp dinner. It was amazing

Nice atmosphere. The gravy is to die for. David took good care of us and the catfish came out piping hot with a perfect crunch.

So the green beans hair sucked, they used to be really good. I had Jessica and Jake taken care of us. They were fabulous. They were very, very good. I called at 4:30 to place an order to be picked up. I ordered the Fish & Chips Entree. The young man I was talking to seemed a bit confused; he asked if I wanted the 3 piece dinner or the 5 piece dinner? I told him I want the Fish and Chips Entree that is $13.95. And he then knowledged what I wanted; asked if I wanted cottage fries or waffle fries. I answered cottage. I also asked for an extra tartar sauce and an extra coleslaw. He responded no problem. Picked up my order at 5:00 pm and when I got home I had fish (I think) and waffle fries (when I asked or cottage fries), 2 tartar sauces, 1 container of green beans, & 1 container of gravy and NO coleslaw (nor the extra one I paid for). We drove past Brothers Houligan and saw a sign advertising their happy hour, so we decided to check it out. The Happy Hour consisted of $1 off draft beers. That's it. No food, wine, or mixed drink specials. There were no prices on the menu for beer, so we didn't know what it was a dollar off from. We each ordered an Irish Red Ale, which was originally $6. We also got a shrimp basket appetizer for $10. The Irish Red Ale was very good. The shrimp basket was good, too, but it took an extra long time to get it. A waiter asked if we were ready to order and we told him we ordered a long time ago. He checked the kitchen and brought it out. It had been sitting there. I usually think that menu items that end in basket will have some French fries. We got 6 fried shrimp in a basket. In my opinion it would have been better named shrimp in a basket. They were good shrimp and they were served in a basket. As for the ambience, the building is old and nothing to be excited about. It was rather dark. The customers seemed to know each other and were friendly. I'm guessing they have a few regulars. We went for the happy hour. $1 off a $6 beer isn't worth going at a special time. read more

This place used to be AMAZING!! Back when they had the Cherry Street location.... the Yale location not so much. There is no concern for quality, or even hot food. When the wait is 30-35 mins after you place your order you would think that the food would come out hot as they are being made to order. That is not what we experienced today. Long food wait, cold and tough steaks and then when you ask for hot food, they tell you it's because they are "slammed". What an excuse and when they replace your fries because they were cold, you get fries not fully cooked. If cold food and slow service is your jam, this is the place for you. read more

I really like this place and I will be back, BUT I would reconsider taking a large party. There were 10 of us, we were seated in the back room, they also started seating other parties there. Everyone that was seated after us received their food and some ate paid and left before we received our food. We waited about 45 minutes to get our food. Not sure why it took so long, then on top of that we were auto gratituded. We would have left a bigger tip but not after auto tip was placed on our checks. Horrible service. Put in our order and waited an hour for our bland food. We tried flagging down multiple staff to check on our order. They said they would check on it but then they never came back. Never got drink refills, never checked on by anyone. This was a Thursday night and the place was pretty empty. After an hour we decided to just leave but right as we were standing up they finally brought out food. The food was overly salted and bland. Very much not worth the wait. So I went here with my family for Mother's Day, and let me just say! The service was less than pleasurable! We arrived at the restaurant at 4pm and sat for a hour before we were even given menus! Then when the food finally came out, half of it was missing, and by the time they got the orders right, we were all already half way done eating our food. I had shrimp with no fries, cause by the time they came, I told them I no longer wanted them cause I had already eaten my shrimp. Then we were told that we would get a discount for the all the trouble, and when the out tickets came out they were all wrong not to mention, NO DISCOUNT!!!
