Been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad we finally made it over! My boyfriend had a plate of scrambled eggs, brisket taco, and barbacoa taco. His favorite was the brisket taco with the scrambled eggs coming in second. For myself, I order the R burger! It was absolutely delicious and easily makes the top of my favorite burgers list. The brisket/ grilled onions/ patty, cheese, and bbq sauce were perfect in each bite! The ladies running the show were awesome and worked together to assist all the customers. It's a quaint diner with tables and booths and I already can't wait to go back! Will for sure be trying the carne guisada (and still ordering the r burger).

Hole in the wall joint in Sabinal. Interior: cozy and old diner feel. No frills Food: BBQ is extremely dry and the brisket seemed to be precut and heated right after order; it is very sinewy and chewy. The sides are okay; they don't taste homemade to me. The burger is actually much better on the other hand. Would recommend the burger with fries as the thing to order here.

Hole in the wall as you are heading into Sabinal from Gardner State Park. Hours are 7am to 2pm seven days a week so good if you are coming or going to the park. They have a really good brisket burger, and beware it is huge!!!!

Good service and great tasting BBQ. Would recommend coming a bit earlier in the day to get the freshest cuts. We came in the last half hour ( we were aimlessly touring small towns and we're getting hungry when we saw they were open, didn't realize they closed at 2, so we had only 34 min left..this end of the day) so the brisket and sausage was a bit dry but the flavor was so good. Their bbq sauce tasted great too.

The brisket is a little too stringy but has a good smoke flavor. Smoke ring is pretty thick. The sausage also has great flavor. I'd definately stop by if I'm in the area

We always pass by this place going home from Concan. We decided to stop for breakfast and was so glad we did. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast and our daughter had the 1/2 lb burger. Sweet tea was good. The service was great and friendly. We did not try the BBQ but next time we come through we are definitely stopping here again.

This place should be on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! Great prices! I would definitely pay more for how good the food was.

There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Reservations were made ahead of time for 4 and upon arrival we were were seated right next to the large open windows. Ordered the Berry Patch cocktail- nice and refreshing with a splash of mint leaves. Menu wasn't overwhelming and had a nice assortment of dishes. Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.

The Neptune was hands down one of the best omelets I've ever had, and the Southern Slammer was exactly what I expected (and more--those green onions really enhanced the grits). I ordered the Eggs Benedict, substituting bacon for ham, with a biscuit and gravy on the side. The Eggs Benedict was good. I loved the unexpected touch of Swiss cheese, which added a nice twist to a classic dish. The hollandaise was a little on the sour side, but the bacon was cooked perfectly. The biscuit and gravy was the real star of my meal, so good that I almost wish I had ordered it as my main! Definitely getting that next time. My husband went for The Big Ass Sandwich and loved it. Fair warning- it lives up to its name. It's big, it's messy, and it's absolutely worth it. He said the same thing I was thinking: we need to come back. We'll definitely be returning on our next trip to Fredericksburg. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great breakfast spot with good food and even better service!
