I was unable to do that so I finally called Pella after having watched videos on-line showing how easy it was to tilt the windows in. I had to wait an hour to finally speak to a person and was told it would cost me $79.00 to have a Pella staff come and show me how to tilt the "easy to tilt in windows". I was shocked that Pella would want to charge me to show me how to use the windows and thought a company would want to support the products they sold. I had a friend show me how to tilt the windows in but my hands are not strong enough to do it, so I am now regretting having bought windows that I cannot clean the exterior from inside. Pella certainly is not interested in supporting their products so if you are looking for windows or doors, look elsewhere so you won't make the mistake I regret making.

The new door - little over $5k-was improperly installed. We couldn't understand the initial crew- from Ukraine - no speaking English either. Pella inspector came by and verified same and put their system to work to affect the fix. Then... supply chain issues arose. Meanwhile, improperly hung door would not lock. And it's winter in the Berkshires! Called manager and told him our door was INOP (inoperative) and won't lock; and that I was now sleeping on a military cot by the front door & door double braced, and other security arrangements prepped n' ready. And he responds with, "So-what's the problem"? Yes, we had words. Informed him of the 'risks to the elderly' imposed upon me & my bride. The sleeping by the front door went on for several months. One of us had to be here 24/7. Things like this up- end one's life 24/7 simply planning around an imposed vulnerability on a private home. New door was finally installed, and my wife and I were able to attend church together, and even eat out. Kinda makes you feel like you're coming out of a snow cave or something. No sooner had the two year warranty run on the 'new & improved' front door, when, old man winter had his effect on the internal locking mechanism. Yep, the cold & something internal to the locking mechanism made the door INOP, again. The young man they sent out to fix the door is a saving grace to Pella. Very professional- did a first class job. So, as for the future, I don't think Our Trails & Pella's will be crossing in this lifetime.

Two of the gutters failed after the first snowstorm, about 5 days after installation. Todd promised to honor his contract and fix the problems, then disappeared. Repeated emails received one word replies, followed by radio silence. Thank God I had a contract and had paid via credit card. It took a few months, but after a thorough investigation, my bank reversed the charges. I still have to pay someone to remove the faulty gutters and repair damage to the fascia board, but I consider myself lucky. I have never experienced such poor and unprofessional behavior from a contractor.

The technician got angry and stormed away saying well I should call him then. The entire process was remarkable in that, unlike others, Dave kept his appointments on schedule. He personally inspected the roof and delivered a review of his proposal in tremendous detail. He has a warehouse with all of the material he needed for my roof, so no excuses about shipping delays, cost escalations or backorders. He promised a mid May installation and actually came a week early. He even got the building permit from the Town, which some other contractors seem to forget. His crew was well-prepared, setting up tarps to keep the old roofing out of the shrubs and lawn, got the entire roof (36 squares) done by around 4:00 pm. Clean up was impeccable.
