I recently visited Gator Restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The service was very poor from the moment we arrived. It took a long time before anyone even acknowledged us, and when we were finally helped, the staff seemed uninterested and inattentive. Our server rarely checked on our table, and we had to wait much longer than expected for both our drinks and food. When the food did arrive, there was little communication or friendliness from the staff. It felt like customer service was not a priority during our visit. A restaurant experience is not just about the food--it's also about how customers are treated. Sadly, the lack of attentiveness and poor service made the visit frustrating. We were in for a lifestyle visit and decided to check out all the town squares, saw this place over looking the lake. We lucked up and found a table outside which was very busy. We didn't have to wait hardly at all for a server and our drinks came out a lot quicker than we expected. They had live entertainment, and it was great! They aren't pretending to be anything fancy but offer a fairly comprehensive menu with various burgers, sandwiches, tacos, salads, soups & apps. My wife and I went in with some friends from The Villages for drinks & and app. The drinks were fine and our fried green beans were ok..nothing special, actually what I expected. The atmosphere is comfortable and entertaining. The bartender was friendly and prompt. Although we didn't get anything beyond our app for food, the burgers looked really good coming out of the kitchen. Prices also seem reasonable at RJ's. They had some live music at the outside bar area and he was awesome. The place was busy but not packed. Really not surprised at the range of other Yelp reviews for RJ's: 0 if I could give zero to 5! I'm not saying that the reviews on the low end of the scale were not legit but you also have to look at the good reviews also..trying to maintain a consistent high quality work staff now a days is quite difficult. We went to Cody's restaurant in the villages that was a half an hour. we decided to try RJ Gators. when we came in, I said oh my gosh look at all the empty seats. After our dinner, I said well now I know why there were so many NPC I'm from New Jersey and there when they order wings we get a man but here I got these cute little baby wings. They were pretty cute. my wife and two other friends did not enjoy their meal either. So that in mind, I will wait a half hour for Covid and not be returning to this restaurant. read more

First off, when my dad and I entered into the building, we were very warmly greeted by a young lady wearing braces, and she was so friendly and all smiles. I asked her if we can sit outside, and she went to go check to see if there were any clean tables, and there weren't at the time. So, she said it would be about a 5-10 minute wait. I told her it would be fine. After about 5-7 minutes we were alerted our table was ready. This poor girl was swamped with people wanting a seat by the time we approached her, but we waited patiently for her to acknowledge us standing there. She eventually saw us, and quickly went to wipe down our table for us. Such a nice girl. Second, we were seated and were promptly approached by the server (Julio), and he was super friendly as well. We ordered our drinks, and the food came later. We ordered a pick 2, and I got the clam chowder, and 1/2 a quesadilla. My dad ordered the shepherds pie. We both equally loved both of our meals. I couldn't eat the whole thing, but it was absolutely delicious. Lastly, when were leaving, the server spoke to us for awhile about fishing. Every single thing about this place was delightful.
