I like this restaurant and I know TVers have $$ but $255 for this....YIKES! Per Person!

    Flatbread

Very pleasantly surprised. I did lunch/happy hour. Clean, well-lit. Outside and inside bar seating and table service. Service was spot on. Food was adequately portioned and presented both warm and well plated. Some might suggest the prices are higher than nearby eateries. That's the difference between an eatery and a dining establishment. I very strongly recommend flatbreads. Delish.

Greek salad with no chickpeas and grilled shrimp

Went here for lunch with a friend yesterday. I LOVED the interior. Great vibe and distinctly different from other restaurants in the Middleton/Villages area. Our server was friendly and prompt and offered clarification on the menu for us. We both went for the Greek salads. Their Greek salad has iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, chick peas and olives in it and comes with a Greek dressing for $12. You can add protein for an additional charge. I added chicken $8 and my friend added grilled shrimp $10. You can also add steak for $10. They serve still or sparkling water. We had still water and they leave a carafe for you at the table. It was busy but I could hear myself talk which is wonderful. A lot of local restaurants are almost impossible to hear anyone at your table when they get busy. This one does not have that echoey sound - I think it's the high booths and greenery - helps absorb the sound. We did think the space between the booth chairs and table was a bit large, but I personally rather have more space instead of not enough. The food itself was good. My chicken was nicely grilled chicken thighs. Probably 4 or 5 ounces (guessing). My friend got several large grilled shrimp with her meal and enjoyed them. My lettuce was a bit wet and wilted in spots, but overall good, and the other items worked well with the meal. The price for my salad was $20 before tip and taxes. I'll definitely go back and try more items.

Excellent service and the filet was wonderful. Brand new restaurant definitely won't be back.

Alligator country! So im here visiting with friends who live near this place. We walk in and literally the record player scratches to a halt and everyone in the bar (all of 4 of them) stop, turn and stare at us. This is where it gets fun! People obviously know we're not from around these parts and quickly walk up to us and start introducing themselves. And here are the names they used... Giggalo Jim, Gator Mike and a few more i cant remember. Im not making this up. It was hard to keep a straight face. So we have some cocktails and play some pool and eat some of the best boiled peanuts that i've ever eaten. A bit later Gator Mike walks up to us and says "Ever been on an air boat?" We all reply "no" and he proceed to say, i know a guy who has one down the road who would love to take you guys out on it. Now i know I've been told not to go with strangers ever since i was a kid, but dammit if i didn't want to go on an air boat! I'm 6'6" and about 260lbs, so if they can lift me and kidnap me, they can have me! I just hope they have a strong back! So we all look at each other and tell Gator Mike that we're game to go do this air boat ride in the middle of a swamp, infested with alligators and with a guy we've never met. Here we go.... Gator Mike drives in a car ahead of us and we follow him to the edge of a swamp where we see his friend. We get out, get introduced and off goes Mike. The air boat "captain" tells us to get on and buckle up, we do. he goes to the front of the air boat, open a compartment, pulls out a red cup, a bottle of Kessler Wiskey, some ice, fills the cup, fired up the boat and off we go. Im thinking to myself at this point that we're all dead and about about to be fed to the gators. But that wasnt the case at all. this guy was funny and actually pretty safe. we saw tons of gators, i got some great pictures (http://www.jskeffphoto.com/skeff/travels/florida/florida_07a.jpg, and http://www.jskeffphoto.com/skeff/travels/florida/gatora.jpg) and it was all crazy and fun and its a great story as you all can tell from this review. So if you're ever in the middle of no where in northern Florida, go here and enjoy the locals!

My husband and I chose to sit outside since it was such a beautiful, less humid day. Our server, Jermaine, was attentive, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and they were outstanding. The shrimp were plentiful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The combination of feta, onion, and light seasoning complemented the shrimp without overpowering the flavor. My husband ordered the Big League Meatball Sub, and it was a big hit! The meatballs were flavorful, smothered in marinara sauce, and topped with Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. The toasted roll held together perfectly, making it easy to enjoy every bite. For our side, we chose the Sidewinder Fries. At first, we had to ask where our fries were because we didn't realize the curled potatoes in front of us were them--but wow, they were incredible! The Sidewinder Fries were the best, and we'll definitely be ordering them every time. We're already looking forward to coming back!

Service with a Smile at Sawgrass Tavern…read more Last Sunday, my golf group and I (all 14 of us!) had lunch at Sawgrass Tavern in The Villages after our round. When I made the reservation, they planned to split us into two tables, which was fine -- but once we arrived, one of the golfers suggested pushing the tables together. So we did. They seated us in the spacious back room, probably thinking we'd be a lively bunch and wanting to spare the other guests. The Scottish décor -- a holdover from when it was McGrady's -- gave the room a cozy, fun feel. Our server, Georgia, was fantastic. Great sense of humor, knew the menu well, and handled our group like a pro. When we told her each couple needed separate checks, she immediately assigned numbers to keep everything straight. Smart, simple, and flawless. I ordered the Reuben, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Absolutely delicious. My spouse ordered the same, and once everyone's meals arrived, the whole room went quiet -- always a sign of happy diners. Even the sides impressed us, and my fries were perfectly crisp. I usually mix hot sauce with my ketchup and bring my own, but I forgot this time. I asked if they had Cholula; Georgia said they only carried Tabasco. But when my meal came out, she brought ketchup and a bottle of Cholula. She laughed and said, "The manager had Cholula, so I took it -- but don't tell him." Everyone had a great time socializing and enjoying their meals. Sawgrass Tavern definitely earned a spot in our future plans -- whether it's just my spouse and me or the whole golf crew again.

I am a little disheartened... in the beginning, I was highly impressed with the place, with the…read morefancy appearance and with the menu options, especially the Salmon Wellington, or the authentic shepherd's pie. Both looked like nice options. Unfortunately I saw a sign in the front that recommended the Wednesday special for 34.99 of a porterhouse. That's where things went south. I jumped on the opportunity of grabbing a good steak, requesting medium rare - as in red and bleeding in the middle. (Those were my actual instructions to cooking this steak) I received a cut of porterhouse so thin it looked like a slice out of a Cuban pan con bistec. The steak was cooked to well done, not a hint of redness left even if you looked at it with a magnifying glass. And on the single bite I took out of it, bland and tasteless as it were, it actually took me over a minute to chew it down. It was also definitely NOT a cut worth 34.99. I was about to cancel my order but gave the menu a second shot. I got a decent NY Strip cooked to a medium rare this time but even that piece, although well marbled, was not a piece that wowed me, honestly. I am not even going to mention the sides because they were not impressive. The only decent thing I've seen there was a pea casserole. My husband's craving for fish and chips was the reason we went there to begin with, and his order came a little too overcooked as well, the fried fish being dryer and darker than the usual fish and chips we are used to. We also ordered the Irish cream bread pudding for dessert, which I was also looking forward to, and it was more so a raisin muffin than what I originally expected. It wasn't as soft and moist as the dish is supposed to be, and worse than that, the only "Irish cream" part to it was a shallow cream reduction that surrounded the muffin with a VERY mild Irish cream flavor. What really saddens me about the experience is that I had very high expectations just from the vibe of the place and the menu options. Also, our waiter was very sweet and the shift manager immediately took over when he noticed my dissatisfaction with the initial dish, which I appreciated. I'd have expected an establishment with this level of appearance, location, and service, to serve better quality food. Customer service = good Atmosphere. = good Food quality. = left much to be desired Bang for your buck = felt too pricey for what I actually got. All that being said the presentation of the food looked good, if only the taste matched the appearance.
