The people that work here are helpful. At the scale they ask if I need help unloading? If yes a get a card for the magnet machine. Or I unlocked myself. I noticed some people take forever to unload? Been going here for the last 15 years and frequently as well. they are not the closest recycling center to where usually am but i choose to the extra travel time to use there services. I have taken in all kind of things from old farm equipment to aluminum window frames, car battery's etc. R.S. Davis has always been great with helping unload even when I bring in some difficult loads or dump trailer malfunction always been treated with respect. definitely by far my first choice in area for metal recycling. one of things that sticks out the most is when you bring in metals like copper wire, brass or aluminum and. you don't have it completely sorted right or there is a few things in the misc that would be worth more if weighted separately they have always told me and done so or informed of how to get the most out of the materials I brought in. that is honesty and I would would drive way further to give my business to company like this that. looks out and is about the customer. getting the most value out of there materials they bring. in. so i highly recommend rs Davis and will definitely continue doing business with them because I don't have to worry about being taken advantage of or having bad experience 5 stars out 5 I give them. read more

I'm relatively new to the scrap game. I just know that I got a lot of junk around the house and I gotta get rid of it. I donate what I can do Goodwill, but other stuff simply isn't donation worthy (exercise equipment, for example, can be a liability issue for goodwill). If I call places like 1-800-GOT-JUNK they charge a nominal fee or at least 100 bucks or so in order to haul away your stuff. I had a couple old DirecTV antennas and some old weights that some old roommates had left at my house when they moved out. So I broke down the antennas the best I could and loaded up my car with the scrap metal. The yard itself was open, clean and easy to navigate. I had expected to pay nominal rate rate to drop off my stuff (I understand that there usually is a charge for stuff like old CRT monitors, AC units, refrigerators, or anything that might have toxic stuff inside), but for my scrap metal they PAID ME MONEY! The entire process took just a few minutes and I walked away with them giving me cash for my troubles. I understand that the rates they pay for the scrap metal will vary based on market rates, but i was happy enough to be rid of junk without driving far or paying a bunch of money. The extra cash in my pocket was simply icing on the cake. read more

Came up as a result of a search for 'appliance salvage' since I'm looking to replace the broken glass on my oven door, hoping to find an inexpensive used one. Called and was told by the woman who answered the phone they don't sell anything out of their yard, they only recycle. I said' that IS recycling'. She said they only buy, they don't sell anything. Confused, I asked how they make any money. She then got really rude, raised her voice and said they sell across the country but not to the public and rudely hung up. Terrible attitude. Not sure if it's company wide or her response to having a bad day, but it was uncalled for and bad for business...even if they're not in that business. I encourage ownership/management to address customer courtesy on the phone. read more

Well.after 5 years of being a loyal customer with RS Davis I am switching to a different local business. Seems as though the past few months idk what's up but I live in Gladstone and my check from this place ,there's a 3 day hold and usually it takes 2 days for delivery,but the last 4 times its been 6 or 7 days ,thus time its almost been 2 weeks and stikk no check,and ive called twice and they are just rude and blame ir on the postal service or hang up on me. I've check with my local post office and determined it cannot be there fault because my neighbor went in with me and she still hasn't got her check either ,doubtful the post office happened to misplace 2 people's checks at the same complex. Another friend of mine had to call after not receiving it for a whole month, I have no idea what their malfunction is but I personally have had it ,I could have walked there and picked it up by now ,these girls need a lil help with keeping loyal long time customers happy or they're not going to receive their checks here soon,see how they like it I guess .I will never do business with them again after their rudeness and hanging up on me saying they didn't have time for me ,Very Poor Business Ethics Girls, good luck. read more

It is funny. I had 300 pounds of cast iron weights and other steel poles and whatnot, you would think relatively worthless. Guess what it all wound up being $33 or so at 11 cents a pound. Kind of tough to find, it is behind the National Guard Armory out here in Southeast. Might be worth your time. read more

this is one of the most ridiculous, ripped off recycling center every. bought in 150lbs of metals/recycling materials and only got paid $2.33. I'd rather take it somewhere else before I do business with these guys. you should do the same. read more

R.S. Davis clackamas, OR is by far the worst company ever! They are thief's. I was in today and was told my scrap steel had wood mixed in it. When I asked what it specifically was she first told me a pallet. The crane operator then told her over the radio that my 100% really big filing cabinet was part wood. Bullshit. They are lazy and make guesses at your expense. Scrap prices are already low and for them to shoot from the hip at your expense is garbage! read more

Staff short changed us and where rude never coming back they are liars brought in 5 rolls of chain link fencing and a bucket of random pieces had to load the fencing with a track hoe went to get weighed weighed in at 15660 when we came in and left at 14580. I had a washing machine, dryer and a water heater to scrap. It's Saturday of memorial day weekend. I checked the davis website, the website in green letters stated that they were open. I loaded up the scrap, drove the 35 miles one way to R S Davis and found the gate closed with another truck and trailer sitting in the drive way. He came in from Estacata to recycle a bunch of scrap metal. I called the phone number on the gate and got the message system. It said that in respect of the holiday weekend they would be closed Sat. Sun. and Monday. It's nice of them to have respect for memorial day, but what about having some respect for the costumers that pay their wages. If you want to be closed for a holiday that's fine. But don't advertise on the website that you are open Saturdays and then close and lock your gate. As myself and the other truck were leaving another truck and trailer shows up the recycle metal. If you want to recycle, go somewhere else. R.S. Davis has little respect for their costumers. read more

I took in $235.00 in copper and aluminum and they said they sent a check to me 3 days later as required but the check did not show up day after day and after talking to the secretary's and getting no where except telling me I have to pay $35 to have them cancel that check to get another. Finally after i face book message them they call me 14 days after they say they sent the check and they cancel it and say there putting a new check in the mail and of course later that day the canceled check shows up but strangely there's no postmark on the envelope and now 6 days after they say they sent another check its still is not here so 22 days after I took the metal to them I'm still waiting to get paid I only live 80 miles away from them and the postal service has had no problem getting me the rest off my mail from all over the country in a reasonable time. I would recommend to take your metal to calbag or anywhere else but here because customer service is no good and not reliable on getting payment to customers hopefully some day I will finally see a check I can cash from them read more
