Going by their Wedsite I was to be charged $ 33.00, when I arrived the clerk in the booth said it would be additional charges added to the cost a total of $55.00. She asked me if I was going to pay cash or debit, I mentioned Debit and she said there will be an additional charge of 2.5% if I used my debit card. I told her I would pay cash. I feel the company is cheating it's customers saying in their website they will be charged $33.00 until they actually get their and are hit with a Dry commingled fee of $29.00 I get that Dee.. also a Transaction fee of $14.00/Fuel surcharge fee of $7.00 and a Corp tax fee of $4.00. Very disappointed and will let my friends and social media know what a rip off the customer gets once theY pull up To the booth. Not everyone can afford these types of prices that are on Social security. read more

The service here is awesome! Despite the gloomy rainy weather, the young staff in the booth are welcoming and sunshine smiley! Strict on what they receive ~ cardboard needs to be plastic & styrofoam free, broken down and completely dry. If you meet that criteria, then unload for free! Plastic needs to be very very specific for them to receive. It can get dirty & muddy especially on a rainy day, so appropriately be prepared. A little out of the way, but we appreciate that they are "conscious" in making recycling work. read more

This place advertises online to be open till six but closed at four today. Do not come here even if you're here one minute after they close early, they will not help you. When you call you'll get no sympathy. The customer service representative acknowledge that they've known about this since last Thursday decided not to put it on their website due to lack of time. I followed her instructions as I arrived to drive on the scale, navigate to the unloading area (lots of helpful staff provided extra guidance, and return to the exit to pay. I was looking for places to dispose some carpet and foam pads. My bf and I did a bunch of research and found that every option near me was really expensive. My bf found ECR online and called them about their rates. They were surprisingly affordable for responsibly recycling old carpet. So, on one fateful afternoon we rolled up all of the old carpet, put it in the back of my car, and drove over to NE to drop it off. It was a huge complex and a little intimidating because of all of the big trucks around my little car. Once it was our turn, they weighed us and sent us around the facility to drop the carpet and padding. After a bumpy ride, we found the spot and unloaded everything. It went really smoothly and then they weighed us again on the way out to determine our total cost ($25). Overall, I'm really glad we found this place to dispose unwanted object responsibly. read more

I absolutely love ECR. There should be facilities like this everywhere. Because of them, we have been able to consciously recycle a huge range of items ranging from mattresses, furniture, yard waste, and electronics at an extremely reasonable cost. Be prepared to unload your own stuff, but the staff are always clear and knowledgable about how to go about it. We have always been in and out in a jiffy. Please be responsible for what you buy/use/consume, and maybe this world can grow to be a better place. This is the only planet we got, we all share it, and I assume most of us will not be able to flee to Mars. read more

Very simple process to recycle your cardboard or dump your trash. I was instructed to drive here, dump there, etc. And the workers were nice. When I was asked what I was dumping, I explained that I had a majority of cardboard and five bags of trash. The lady at the weigh-in told me that it should be at a minimum fee - she was right. As I was dumping everything out the box van, some of the employees came and checked on my dump. They discussed it amongst each other, and decided to tell the lady that I had 98% cardboard. I thanked them, and when I showed up to the weigh-in, the lady just told me my dump was processed through as all cardboard! So for my second time there, it was free of charge! I wouldn't have mind if there was a fee since it was on the company card, but its nice that I did save the hassle of paying. read more

ECR is a huge dump area in NE Portland that takes pretty much everything. Located off of NE San Rafael St, just before the school, there is a long driveway that you pull into and head down to the site. They have a nice set up going and everything pretty much has a place for it, so there is hardly any waiting. This run, I dumped a crap ton of dirt. They weigh by the pound- 980#, $68. The gal who works the main office is always so nice and friendly- she looks like she doesn't take any crap from the guys. I think she has been doing it for awhile cause she rocks at going back and forth from window to window. It's an easy process: you are weighed, dump your stuff, weigh again, and pay - pretty straight forward. The staff is also friendly and around too to answer any questions. One guy escorted me up to their compost dump area and was super helpful. I have dumped grow lights here before - and I think the guy had too much fun smashing them lol. Must go for your dump needs - They pretty much will allow to dump anything, there's just a price attached to it. read more

if I could give zero stars I would. The man who answered the phone was rude and condescending. He acted as though I, as a woman, could not possibly understand what asbestos was. it's not in yard debris and extra Ikea trim from a recent kitchen remodel. he ultimately hung up on me and never sent me the information. I'm going to give Portland Disposal my business. They're actually cheaper in the long run. read more

This place is great for cardboard recycling! I have been making weekly trips after moving and all the containers from furniture deliveries and amazon shopping sprees. Dumping cardboard is free but here is a pro tip... if it is raining and the cardboard gets wet they will charge you! read more

I had never even been to a dump when I found myself with 3 rooms worth of carpet to get rid of. ECR was fairly close so I gave them a call. The woman who answered gave information and directions that put me at ease. I called one other place, but decided to go with Environmentally Conscious Recycling because she made it sound easy. And it was easy. Every step of the way there was a person to point me in the right direction. A few weeks later I returned with the remnants of a deck. I guess I'm a regular now! I was able to recycle a ton of junk in my garage that was just taking up space...including an old mattress - all for a VERY reasonable price. I've been to ECR a couple of times. I didn't find the employees there to be very friendly or helpful. The yard doesn't feel very organized and instructions are not clear for where to go to drop off various materials. Some of the areas are very isolated and I feel unsafe to go there by myself. They are located only a few blocks from my house but because of my experiences there, I choose to drive much further to Metro Waste Transfer where I receive friendly service and clear instructions on where to drop off my yard debris and recycling ~ AND they charge less!! read more
