R Salon is a real finder. I called on Saturday at around 3 pm to learn that Christina is available for my hair cut at 4:30 pm. Not only she cut and styled my hair beautifully, she also spend some time making my highlights looking natural and vibrant. I loved everything: the professionalism, the atmosphere, and the fact that I was able to get an appointment with Christina the same day I called. Avoid the rude, bitchy attitude of this salon, at all costs!!! (* even worse than the obnoxious staff at Blu Salon, also in Edgewater.) The owner , Tommy, never smiles nor greets clients and has less than zero regard for their comfort or feedback. They give you extremely limited selections of salon brand products. Their styling chairs and ESPECIALLY their shampoo chairs are excruciatingly uncomfortable. Parking is a nightmare! I only patronized this Salon because my amazing hair stylist of many years, William, moved there when the salon he previously worked at, closed. As much as I loved William and am grateful for all the years of top notch professionalism and artistry he provided my hair with, I had no choice but to FLEE this Gloom & Doom salon after at least half a dozen utterly miserable experiences there! ... that Tommy owner is not getting another dime out of me! read more

My usual stylist in Englewood was unavailable so I had remembered someone I knew and loved her hair, went to R Salon. I had been in a nail salon and heard someone else speaking about Tommy there. I called and got an appt on a slow week after the holidays. Tommy listened to what I felt about my color and gave his suggestions. I am growing my hair out so he just had to trim a bit. The color came out perfect....everyone else tends to make me too blond. He pegged it!! Took the time to really do a great style and blowdry as well. I really love this place! Christine has been my stylist for several years now and she absolutely fabulous. Before her, I have had my hair cut and colored everywhere from small local salons to big time famous salons and I have to say, NONE of them even come close to the AMAZING job Christine does every time I see her. I get my hair colored and cut regularly and Christine does an fantastic job with my color. We color it brown and then Christine paints in some bleach to lighten up the tips. I get a ton of compliments on not only the color but the cut as well. Christine is very consistent with both which is very important. I always leave R salon feeling like a million dollars. This place went above and beyond for me! This salon is down the street from me and I never thought to give this place a try until today. I called around 11:30am asking if they could squeeze me in for a looooong overdue haircut. Not only could they squeeze me in, they got me an appointment for noon ON A SATURDAY! AMAZING. I had the pleasure of meeting Christine, my stylist. She was very sweet and extremely helpful with suggestions for shampoo for my dry hair. I have very long hair and although I was hesitant to get the layers in my hair that Christine suggested, she nailed my haircut. She didn't take off too much length and she put beautiful layers in my long hair. I was in and out of the salon within an hour even though it was pretty busy in there. I have been going to Tommy at R Salon for a couple of years now for cut and highlights and my hair consistently comes out great! I am very picky about color (I have curly hair that is a bit dry, made even worse by too many highlights) and have tried many, many different salons over the years in both north NJ and some of the best in Manhattan. I have never been as happy with any of those other salons as I am with R Salon. Since I have been going to Tommy my hair is shiny, strong and healthier than it has even been and the color is spot on. I found R Salon just by driving by and then doing some review searches, and I've been a fan ever since and continue to go after nearly 2 years. Lucky for me, I got an appointment with Tommy, and he really gets my hair and does great color. One thing I really like is that he doesn't do cookie-cutter cuts or color, as some stylists tend to do. Tommy is the owner, and I suspect he requires the shop to be clean and clutter-free. There's also a good group of assistants who take good care of you. AND, someone in the City called my hair "expensive-looking," which I think is great praise, and I feel pretty smug paying non-NYC prices for it! I've been going to see Christine at R salon for the past 18 months. I am extremely picky about my hair and have bounced around for about 5 years from hair stylist to hair stylist. I was thrilled when I met Christine - she took the time to evaluate my hair and gave me a great cut. Since then she has suggested different cuts and color each time (this last time she suggested balayage highlights which look great - a nice subtle change for summer) that always complement my face well. Came for highlights left with none plus brassy and red looking hair. On top of it my hair in the front was burned off so now The front hair is broken and it looks horrible. The best part of it is that the hairdresser was constantly saying how nice it looked after my hair being soaked in glaze for 20 minutes there was nothing except for my reddish spots on my hair. It is a disaster! I Spent $200 for my hair being ruined literally!!!bad choice I decided to try this place based on their review and trust me do not step in unless you want to spend money to look worse than before. I recently moved to West New York from Brooklyn and was very nervous about finding a new hair stylist after 6 years with the same stylist. I had an appointment for a cut and highlights with Christine. I absolutely love what she did to my hair! She is really knowledgeable about coloring - I usually just do regular blonde highlights but she added low lights and somehow made my color much more natural looking and beautiful than it has ever been. It really looks just like the blonde I had naturally as a child. I also love the cut! It was one of those situations where we didn't really discuss too many details before she started away on my hair, so about halfway through the process I thought, "Hmm... what if this turns out to look awful?" I defnitley would never go back here I had an appointment with Tommy he completely ruined my hair I had a color and a cut it was like the first time he was doing a hair from my experience I had to make an appointment the next day to get my hair fixed I wasn't happy and I told him I wasn't happy and it's like he didn't even care. This is the second time I've been to R. Salon. I called for an appt. with the stylist who cut my hair last time, but she no longer works there, so they had Jenny cut my hair. I am a 44 year old mom of a 2 year old (i know-an old mom )-and have kinda given up (for the moment) on my hair etc. and just don't "care". But Jenny was awesome! She took the time to care and really consider what would truly look best for me at this particular time. I have never had a better cut. Jenny literally, with this cut, gave my hair new life. I went to this Salon on a recommendation from someone. My hair is baby fine, colored and pretty damaged. Christine took the time to really consult with me about how to fix the color and ultimately get my hair to where I want to be. Some salons give you the whole sales pitch what products you must have in order to look good. She is a true professional as SHE made me look good.
