I've been hearing about her quite a bit from some family that visit here quite often. I live out in Coachella but made the trip here to see her personally. The quality of care I received from her and her staff was amazing. Everyone was very kind when I showed up for my first appointment here. Looking back on this past year, I have much to be thankful for, and Batra Dermatology has been key to how fortunate I feel this past year went. I visited Dr. Batra's office early this past year, with a pretty sudden condition that had left my primary doctor at a loss for what could be wrong. Amelia Mittleman (and really, the whole office) took great care of me during the visits I made throughout the year, diagnosing the issue related to my condition, identifying the right treatment, supporting me when I had issues with my insurance and pharmaceutical coverage, and addressing any and all questions through the treatment and subsequent improvement of my condition. I've been doing with an ongoing issue that she was able to address. She proposed a method of treatment which has been working really well. I've been going to Dr. Batra for several years. Her office has a cold/negative approach (if you have skin issues rather than suggesting positive changes the tone is that of scolding). I have fair skin. I had not changed dermatologists because I am a busy working mom, and did not make time to find a new one. I called today because I have a growth on my forehead, and asked if I could come in sometime to have her look at it. The answer was "sorry, we're booked out for months" with no solution (no referral, no, we'll call you if someone cancels next week) to what is a medical need/support. Agree with Maya N here on reviews...they treat patients in a derogatory way that is unfounded. It is the culture in this office and it starts with the arrogance at the top. read more

Awful awful awful...waited 6 weeks for a medical procedure after initial consultation when they DID accept ny insurance, only to be told less than 24 hours before the procedure that they arent accepting my Blue Shield insurance and I'd be billed at a much higher rate. I didn't see Dr. Batra but her PA. The PA did a biopsy, which got infected as she put the adhesive of the bandage on the newly raw skin. I didn't know this until I took off the bandage 24 hours later as instructed. Dr. Batra called and left me a message to call her back. I called, no call back. I called again the next day, no call back. The pathology report was back and I needed to know what was going on. Third call, I asked them to send me the pathology report, clearly she wasn't calling back. It was skin cancer. I did my research and found a Mohs surgeon on my own. Dr. Batra considers herself a "media doctor." Perhaps Ms. Hollywood would be more descriptive of her expertise. She lacks professionalism and in my case she demonstrated substandard care. Her PA's work left me in pain with an infected open wound. She and her staff leave much to be desired. Dr. Batra's lack of communication was beyond pathetic for a healthcare professional. Do yourself a favor and find another dermatologist! Just read the most recent reviews, in case my review didn't convince you to go elsewhere. I have been meeting with Dr. Batra for a couple years now and have always found her to be an attentive and correct in her diagnosis of my condition. If you're looking for someone to sit and hold your hand for 20 minutes, that's not Dr. Batra. She's direct, she'll listen and analyze, diagnose, and treat you accordingly - but you are always a part of the process. If the first treatment plan doesn't work, she'll work with you on other options untill there's a positive resolution. That I appreciate and her friendly demeanor! My problem with her office is her front desk staff. When you call the office specifically, their telephone manner is curt and rude, and even condesending to a point. When you call, they don't even say, "good morning, Dr. Batra's office, how can I help you". You hear "hello, can I help you?" It'm not calling your cell phone it's a Doctor's Office! When you start to state your reason for calling, they cut you off with a "what's your date of birth?" And it's down hill from there. I was told that there was an issue with using my insurance even though I was calling in with a valid authorization, was told that they would have to check and call me back - never got a call back. When I called two days later was told that there was no issue. Respect, professionalism and courtesy are everthing in business and especially so at doctor's offices. This lack of professionalism needs to be improved, as it's a bad refection on Dr. Batra's office and the good work she does. read more

I had the same negative experience with Dr. Batra's office staff as many other patients and reviewers. After over a month of waiting for my appointment with Dr. Batra, I found out upon arrival to the office that her staff had cancelled my appointment without any notice or warning. They didn't take a single minute to notify me or to offer me a chance to reschedule. I normally don't review but I have been Dr. Batra's patient for 3 years. I really like her and she always have importance to patients with emergencies. I had an emergency where a huge abscess was developing and grew almost size of a ping pong ball. Given the credentials of Sonia Batra, I was expecting a stellar experience, but it turned out quite negative and I will not be returning. Just don't waste your time. Unfortunately, this office prioritizes cold, transactional relationships over a caring, human-centered approach towards their patients. Their lack of price transparency, consistent miscommunication, and inability to understand their patient's needs is disappointing. Due to Covid, my initial visits were virtual and then I came into their office for their recommended cosmetic treatments. After the first treatment, I had no results and I called to speak with a doctor about my concerns. Their office reception told me to wait until I came in for my next appointment for consultation. When I came in for my second appointment, I was told by a PA it would have been actually better if I went with another treatment. I was quoted a price of $200 for a small surface area for this new treatment. Again, I asked if I could speak to Dr. Batra herself, but she was not in the office nor was she present during my first in-person visit. I asked if they could leave a note for her to review my file given my concern and the miscommunication of different treatments. But, I never heard directly from her. Instead, after my appointment, I received a follow up call from their office manager that told me there were no miscommunication and that for my next treatment I had to pay $400. I was confused as to the pricing difference for the same treatment and asked for clarification. I was told that they actually treated me for a medium rather than small surface area and they didn't tell me. Given the miscommunication and lack of price transparency for services, I asked for them to make a courtesy for my next visit as I planned to continue coming to them in the future. I was then told that it was best I not come back at all and it was better for me to go to someone else. If you want the opportunity to directly deal with the doctor and someone that you can trust to take care of your skin, this is not the place. I made a mistake to trust credentials and I should have listened to the past reviews. Whoever responds to my comment, do not tell me you will try "to make this right." You should have prioritized patient satisfaction from the beginning and not after the fact. The moment I spoke up, I was let go and told not to come back. Actions speak louder than words. read more

Not accommodating and overpriced. Unfortunately, they require multiple appointments for simple scans that could easily be addressed in one visit. Dr. Batra's office is outstanding! Super friendly staff with a clean, high-end, welcoming office environment. I see other reviewers not so happy with the front office, but I found just the opposite. They were always smiling, helpful, and professional, and very generous with samples. I had a facial done by Natalya who's there on Saturday mornings, and it was the most relaxing and calming experience ever. I got lots of compliments from my gf, who pushed me to do it... would highly recommend!
