    Sweet flight
    Dan K.

We went here for a Saturday morning brunch. To our surprise it was not crowded at all. Being that Kelly O's and another diner always have lines to get in, we were shocked nobody was here. We had a great time having mimosa and wine flights and the multiple people who took care of us were so kind and sociable. When we ordered, we got advice about the food. We were told we ordered two favorites and they were absolutely right because the sausage hash and the funnel cake French toast were delicious!! The price was extremely reasonable and it was a nice, chill vibe for a early Saturday afternoon. We will definitely be coming back. One of the people who waited on us also convinced us to buy a bottle of the moscato, which he promises is one of the best so we will have to find out when we open the bottle:)

I just flew in to work for the week and was walking around looking for a bite to eat when I found Olivia outside highlighting their wines. I tried a few of their white wines and enjoyed their Unoaked Chardonnay and Fume Blanc. I don't know if it was just the hot day there, but I took home those two wines. I asked where I could grab a bite, and she recommended going downstairs to R Wine. Their small bites were what I was looking for. The atmosphere was great and reminded me of old Italy. I met a friendly bartender/waiter named Jeffery at the bar and was taken care of. I got the meatballs, and they were tasty. The meatballs had flavor, and the red sauce was perfect. I highly recommend this place for friend gatherings or just yourself like me.

One of my favorite places to go in the strip! The main part of the restaurant is downstairs and it is super cute, a great place for romantic occasions. I absolutely love the ambrosia, it's probably my favorite wine. They also have great loaded bloody Marie's.

I would really say this was 3.5 stars if I had the choice... we went for brunch and it was just very average. The service was not great, we someone how got our food long before the mimosas came out and it was like a torture session trying to get the server to recognize we were out. If you pay for bottomless then you should be on top of it. Again, very ok. The service was just the worst... also, how to you serve a dry English muffin and not bother to offer any butter or jam? Ice cold butter by the way so you can't actually spread it on 20 minutes after you had received the order and the server finally came by to check on us...

What a fortuitous find! A couple friends bumped into each other after the Sunday opera matinee and decided to wander in The Strip. On Penn Avenue someone noticed the sidewalk seating for R Wine Cellar, so we decided to go inside to investigate. Downstairs was a beautifully woodpaneled room playing decidedly modern music. We mostly had the place to ourselves (I felt safer even though cases are coming down), along with an enthusiastic waitress. They produce all their own wines on Smallman Street from domestic and imported grapes, and the kitchen has it going on as well. After sampling their warm mulled wine (both white and red), I opted for the white; it really does remind you of apple pie. The Church wine is better than anything you've been served for Communion. There are also 2 beers and a selection of soda for non-wine drinkers. We enjoyed the French onion soup, meat ravioli, cheese board (with nuts, berries, and orange marmalade), and crostini with warm cheese spread so much that we plan to come back for their wine flight tasting. Not only can they schedule one at any time, but it's only $35 per person. I can't speak to the restrooms, but I hope to write about their sidewalk service next time!

Riding bikes through the Strip, we somehow stumbled upon a Sangria stand with mini samples and adult juice box options for sale. We parked our bikes and decided to stop in to take a closer look and found they had a ton of wine selections. This location was located on Smallman Street and was a satellite of the one on Penn I believe. Friendly service from both workers. Parking was street parking.

We were offered free samples. The gentleman who poured our wine was very knowledgeable about their various wines. He recommended some we would like. We ended up taking a couple bottles home. They have a restaurant location as well which I am excited to try. I would recommend stopping in.

R Wine Cellar is a family-owned urban winery with a quaint shop located in Pittsburgh's Strip District. They focus on creating wines with grapes grown in Pennsylvania, California, and South America. I recently enjoyed a fun afternoon exploring their wines when I stopped into the strip store for a complementary tasting. R Wine Cellar produces a wide variety of wines including three fun specialty wines a peach chardonnay, red spiced wine, and an apple spiced white wine. Fiona Peach Chardonnay - My favorite R Cellar wine that I tasted was a fresh and fruity wine with hints of peach and apricot. The fruit creates the sweet, and the Chardonnay adds a and crisp finish. Next time you visit the Strip District, I would encourage you to stop into R Wine Cellar's charming store. I enjoyed chatting with the owner and tasting their wines. Cheers!

They have delicious brunch and great Mamosa's! Service was great and April is such a great waitress! Great prices! Definitely recommend this place!

I introduced this winery to my girlfriends and we last visited it for a wine tasting. They have a private room/ space in the back. We had a blast. They all fell in love with the wine. I have previously ordered custom labeled wine for my college graduation party, and thought this time around it would be a thoughtful gift for a girlfriends birthday. The red wine are all vegan which worked out perfectly. Thank you Kathy for taking the time to make those labels; as you can tell from the picture she loved them. Definitely check them out if you're in Pittsburgh!

We walked over here after breakfast on a Friday. This is a little store front winery where they make the wine inside. I assume the wine making equipment takes up most of the space, so the tasting area was small. Because it was a work day, the woman was very talkative and took her time explaining all the wines to us. She was the sister of the owner of the winery. The whole family works and runs the business which is great. I really like some of their unique flavors of wines. They had a chardonnay warmed that tasted like Christmas. It was really good. I have never had wine warmed like that. She said they make it with diamond grapes and it crystallizes at the bottom. They also had a red version of it that tasted equally amazing. Another wine was the concord, that tasted just like grape juice. Very smooth. We ended up buying 5 bottles of wine. They have specials for $3 off 3 bottles and $6 off 6 bottles. I really like this winery, and I will be back the next time I visit my hometown of Pittsburgh.

It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

My husband and I ate one lunch here. An employee very promptly and courteously served us. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Charcuterie Nordic Board - 5 stars - We got the "Serf's Meal" for 1-2 people, but much larger boards are available. It consisted of cured meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables with dip, dried fruits, crackers, breads, and nuts. It was our favorite food here, and I highly recommend ordering it. Gatherer Flatbread - 4.5 stars - This thin-crust pizza was topped with sauce, mozzarella, tomato, mushroom, spinach, roasted red pepper, and red onion. It was the perfect size for me to eat. Eat it promptly before it gets slightly soggy. Coastal Warmth Lobster Roll - 4.5 stars - This Connecticut lobster roll was served warm with butter. My husband liked the amount of meat and its flavor. Eat it promptly before the lobster meat gets rubbery. Drink Flight - 5 stars - A flight consists of four 3.5-ounce pours. You get to choose from dozens of dry, semi-sweet, and sweet meads, wines, and hard ciders as well as beers. One of the flavors that I wanted was out of stock, but I greatly enjoyed the sweet Banana Berry hard cider, Late Harvest hard cider, Flagship Niagara white wine, and Pink Lemonade mead. When we entered the winery, we were greeted by Michael Kavic (owner). He asked if this was our first visit, and when we told him it was, we were invited to sit down for a wine tasting. The wine tasting was amazing! He first gave us a flight of white wine (6) and told us about each one. In addition to the wine, he provided us with cheese and crackers.
