I was told my dog needed bloodwork prior to the clinic removing the tumor in their office. The blood work came back and I was told that his albumin numbers were too low. I explained to Dr.that I believed that my dog had a food allergy as he was throwing up the new food my daughter had bought. But Dr. did not think that was the case. and I was referred to get an ultrasound done as Dr. Puhl had thought my dog had an intestinal issue. I spent 500.00 fur ultrasound. . Testing came back normal. I bought another variety of food without sweet potatoes as an ingredient. He was no longer throwing up. Dr Pohl had suggested I bring him back for new bloodwork. His albumin had improved but Dr thought it was still not high enough to remove tumor. The tumor kept growing while waiting for his albumin numbers to increase. By the time his numbers slowly improved my pup could no longer have the tumor removed at Dearborn Family pet so I was referred to a surgical animal hospital. FOUR months after my initial visit he had his surgery. It was found that the tumor removed was an aggressive form of cancer. After the surgery I had showed my pups test results to another vet. They said there was NO reason why Dearborn Family Pet did not remove the tiny tumor months earlier as they felt his albumin number was not significantly low.. His tumor had grown from the size of a black pepper seed initially to the size of an avocado by the time he had surgery. Following the surgery he had recurring small tumors that developed as I was told due to the size the tumor had Brien they did their nest to get it all. The only vet I felt comfortable with at Dearborn Family Pet was Dr Goode... and she retired.

Long winded review ahead but a warning for people trying to use BarkBarkWag rescue. We tried to…read morecomment about our uncomfortable experience on the rescues post and Sheri the owner promptly deleted it and blocked us from the page so I'm warning people here. Note there is only one Bark Bark Wag Rescue but they have two yelp pages with different locations on them. I had the rug ripped out from me a second time on the same dog. I applied for her originally 7 weeks ago and was approved back in early February. When the rescue owner called to speak with me (hours after she said she would) she changed the requirements to the dog not being adopted out without a housemate to which she tried to get me to adopt two of her animals at once. I was not ready for this as we just lost our special needs dog 2 weeks prior and I felt forced to get two at once (one of which I didn't feel connected to). FFW to this week when I notice the dog pop up again after being in this woman's home for 5 months now. We had fallen in love with another dog (through a different rescue) that we've had now for 5 weeks. I've gotten to know him (he's learning and thriving!) and thought maybe he would like a friend. It has to be fate that she's still there right? I meet the new requirements of a playmate for her so I re-inquire. I'm approved again. I send videos of EVERY room of my home/basement/garage as the "virtual home visit" which Sheri now still has as an inventory of my possessions on her phone. Am told they do this instead of coming to your home because of COVID however they do still come to your house during their required multiple meet and greets. I set up an appointment for a meet and greet at her home where the dog is the very next day with us and our current dog. I'm told I'll receive an email within a couple hours with the information on the meet and greet. I patiently wait until the next morning when I have to ask again. The email is then sent but still no address, still no information on the process when we get there, just to text when I arrive. I finally get the address, time and text when we arrived as I was told, only to be greeted with hostility. This woman walked up to my vehicle and said she had no idea who I was. Remind you, she had a video of the front of my house with my vehicles in it. I had an appointment confirmed 3 hours prior (spoke with her on the phone at this time also) and I text when I arrived as instructed. She said she doesn't have her phone on her and she's not ready. I said that's ok we are a few minutes early and can wait. She says "are you ok?" "This isn't going to work is it?" I told her if this doesn't work it's not because of me and because I think she's trying to keep her. She proceeds to tell me I parked wrong in her driveway and expected me to leave my recently rescued dog unattended in my car for however long it took us to get acquainted with the new dog before we introduce them. I told her I wasn't comfortable making my dog sit here by himself scared and nervous that I may not come back. Suggested my boyfriend sit with our current dog while I meet her and then switch. She told me no that wouldn't work for her dog. It was too much in and out of the yard for her and had no regard for the safety and comfort level of both dogs. Needless to say, we never got to meet the dog even though we were physically at her house. All of this after about 2 hours of phone conversations where she belittled me and told me I had to change everything I do with my current dog to accommodate the new one. I was talked down to in a rude and condescending tone about inquiring about worms/fleas/ticks/parasites given they are a rescue that likely have new dogs coming in. She told me many times that she was flooded with applications but no one was the perfect fit. I realized after 5 months of being in her home this poor sweet dog is still not being properly socialized or worked with on her fears/leash/people. Every instinct in my body told me something is wrong with this woman and the situation, but I was committed to trying to save this baby from her basement where the foster dogs are not allowed to cohabitate with her personal dogs. Don't even get me started on the "contract" you're required to sign that she can continue to check in on the dog to make sure you're doing what she wants you to do and if you break any of her rules she's within her rights to sue you AT YOUR COST and take your dog away from you. My heart goes out to Celeste (and any other dog under this woman's thumb) that she's stuck in an unfavorable position and I'm sad I couldn't save her. This rescue owner may have given her a better home than she came from but emaciated and neglected was a low bar to begin with. Please be careful, do your research and listen to your gut! There are plenty of good rescues out there and this is not one of them.

GLRS gets a ZERO rating, they do NOT even deserve the "1" rating, but there's no "0" to select, or…read moreI would. They knew Tawny had white discharge coming out of his nose in early October 2020 and FAILED TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET! The board directors KNOW that when rabbits are ill or injured they need to be seen by a rabbit savvy vet within 24 hours or less. You surely do NOT ignore white discharge coming out of a rabbit's nose and only do nebulizer treatments. He NEEDED TO BE THOROUGHLY EXAMINED FOR PROPER DIAGNOSIS RANGING FROM PNEUMONIA, PASTEURELLA, ETC. AND THEY FAILED TO DO SO!!! And since they had the money to put a billboard up on I94 recently, "Make mine chocolate," with their web address, they CERTAINLY have the money to fully reimburse me the remaining $1400 for Tony's (formerly Tawny) vet bills. GLRS did NOTHING, did NOT take him to the vet until November 2020, claiming the discharge "cleared up," per notes in the vet records they failed to provide me when I picked him up. Tony ended up with Conjunctivitis that spiraled out of control due to their negligence in taking him to the vet in October. That caused him to develop a nasty ear infection, his eyes were swollen shut, he stopped eating on his own, and was barely pooping. Their vet did not provide Critical Care feeding instructions, other than "as needed." He needed NO LESS THAN 125ml per day divided into several small meals. The board knew for close to a week he wasn't eating on his own, but told a staff member who kept trying to reach them, they'd try to get him to the vet two days later, "if we can find someone to take him.' The board president minimized and lied about Tony's condition and claimed he was fine, when he NEEDED TO BE SEEN BY AN ER VET!!! I had to do an emergency rescue to which my rabbit savvy vet found their vet prescribed eye drops you NEVER use on rabbits, that his eyes, ears, and teeth were all bad shape, and his nose was full of snot making it difficult for him to breath. And on top of all of that, he tested positive for parasites Giardia and Coccidia, along with yeast. The board president claims no wrong doing, that the cruelty investigator found no wrongdoing. That's because HVHS is BIASED and has transferred several rabbits to GLRS and took two weeks before investigation, giving GLRS ample time to ensure pristine conditions. Had the investigator acted promptly, he would've found the shelter reeking of urine, an abundance of poop in the aisles, water and food bowls NEVER washed out with soap and water and NEVER sterilized due. Rescues and shelters OWE a duty to the animals in their care to PROPERLY AND CORRECTLY run the rescue shelter right. In this case, GLRS is grossly understaffed with only 2 part-time employees (that do NOT work together on the same shift) per day to care for well over 70 rabbits. It would take ALL four part-time employees working EVERY day/7 days a week to even come close to properly taking care of all of these rabbits; especially when approximately a dozen are in the hospital requiring daily nebulizer treatments for chronic respiratory issues they try to claim would clear up if the rabbits were adopted out and didn't have exposure to other rabbits, dust, etc. This rescue also has NO way of preventing rabbits in their care from contracting E. Cuniculi, with the pens side by side. All it takes is for one EC infected bunny to pee that runs into adjoining pen and it's a domino effect because EC is shed through urine spores. Whether the board tested all the hospital rabbits for parasites once informed, is questionable. Again, Tony's vet records were NOT provided to me, and only a few of his medications were provided when I requested ALL of it in picking him up. In reading Tony's vet records that were later emailed to me by the vets who examined him, I discovered GLRS failed to disclose material facts about Tony's health, which is unconscionable! Apparently the only way GLRS will reimburse me the remaining $1400 is filing suit since the board president refuses to do so. The board president is well aware and made NO objections when I emailed the invoices for reimbursement. And because GLRS cannot represent themselves in court, they'll have both their attorney fees and mine, along with court costs. They're in breach of contract, they CANNOT hide behind the adoption contract when they've acted in bad faith and failed to disclose material facts about Tony's health. I'm all for adoption, but do your homework and THOROUGHLY research rescues and shelters before adopting. Request to see their vet records BEFORE adopting; if they refuse, look for another rescue/shelter.
