Swallows Nest is the best stop downtown for an after work cocktail, game day beer or anything in between. It's the perfect start to a girls night out, before or after the theater, with a full bar, amazing mixologists slinging fun innovative drinks each week, they always have what you need...whether you know it or not. Terra, Gray, Rick, everyone is so nice and welcoming and you will feel like family while you're sipping at the Swallow.

Located in Finn Hall, this was perfect to grab a drink before dinner especially since it was happy hour time! Grey was wonderful and recommended the bacon infused old fashioned. My goodness it was delicious!! The bacon itself from the burger spot located in the same food hall was a great garnish. Love the spot and service, if you're in the area do check them out. I would recommend during the week and weekend it seems less popular.

Cool place, just discovered it. Across from Market Square Metro stop. Collection of bars and restaurants inside. Great vibe!

They have the Best drinks and they cost from $6 -$12. Which is not bad at all. I had the pleasure of meeting TJ and he made this drink. Man when i tell you I couldn't even finish it !! This place is a must go, oh and if you do be sure to check out crave burgers, it's a burger place but baby they have the best fried chicken !!

Came by after work for some drinks. I forgot the name of the drink I had, but it was made with agua fresca from the Mexican restaurant next to the bar inside Finn Hall, and it was SO delicious and refreshing. The bartender even made it slightly less sweet for me, which made it truly perfect. It was strong too. The drink was adorned with a hibiscus flower, which I was promptly told was delicious and completely edible. So good! The girl told me where I could buy a jar, which I did as soon as I left. :) They like collaborating with the other restaurants inside the food court, which I thought was pretty cool! Excellent service.

Terrible experience. I came with some friends and the food hall itself was pretty empty but there was only one bartender on a Saturday night. The bartender asked for our IDs and kept scratching our ID cards with her nail and even accused one of us our ID was invalid (it wasn't)... I understand it's her job to be thorough but she was very condescending. There was also a cardboard box of old limes with fruit flies and bugs coming out next to the bar top. Not very appealing.. When our drinks came out, it looked like she skimped us when we compared to the photos on their instagram. Looks like we already started drinking it. The Bayou City Garden tasted like a passion fruit tea, good, but I couldn't tell if there was any alcohol in it at all. If you want a drink that tastes like a mocktail, I would recommend it. Unfortunate since my friends and I were really looking forward to trying this place out, but all of us were disappointed by the service and the drinks. Cute place though.

They certainly don't call it Spitter's Nest so you know their drinks are well up to snuff before you even come round. This is such a "H tine hold it dine" kind of #SLGT local place that celebrates Houston culture and history, all in a gorgeous art deco space but with one minor heck up, so keep reading to find out what the one thing is. I am not a fangirl about G&Ts outside of Mongoose and Cobra's with that housemade stunningly pearlescent tonic, but this is now the second one in my life I am going to rave about because this G&T adds chartreuse, which elevates the art form like one of my most favourite (and dandiest) mixed drink choices possible, the last word. I worked in this building (the tower part, not the bar part in Finn Hall) off and on for ten years. Of course it would be after I moved on permanently for heckin' ever that this is when Finn Hall opens down on street level on the Rusk side and brings us Swallow's Nest in the adjoining upstairs space you boldly sashay towards up the staircase at the back of Finn Hall. Meanwhile in the old iteration of the building to get a decent drink mama had to bring a bottle of vodka in her purse and enjoy covertly on the rickety ass old elevators creaking their way up 20+ stories, when the old ass building itself wasn't actually on fire occasionally. Cocktails are regularly $12. There is an unprinted "take their word for it" happy hour at times which knocks a dollar off occasionally if you show enough skin, but it is not in writing anywhere so your guess is as good as mine while I rebutton my puffy shirt and zip up my pantaloons, worth it for the story. It is a bar and a grille (like both kinds of music, country and western) so the shiny blue menu has the drinks, and the monster black binder is the one with the food in it. Most people are there to drink, given the food court back down the staircase in Finn Hall proper, so there are a large number of servers/waitstaff ambling about aimlessly but only two overworked bartenders. So if it is busy drinkin' time when it is 5 o'clock somewhere (or 2pm when you are perpetually on island time like yours truly) then you may have a bit of wait to get some service and to get your drink freshened and then to get the check. There is a tv set to the sportsball behind the bar (totally obnoxious, for an art deco space, surrrrrrriously) so if you want to crush American lite beers you can probs do that too and still fit in here with the foppish dandy gents mirin the art deco. I guess this bar is kind of like grindr when the annual OTC happens in Houston. The 713 G&T comes with Hendricks gin, chartreuse, green tea simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and tonic water. The Hendricks is a must at all times. The chartreuse is just proper fancyboy. What, we couldn't call this the 281-330-8004 G&T or is that too many digits? Or are you all too young to know about my boy Mike Jones up on the low? Get rid of the tv set to the sportsball (put it in the rubbish bins on the Rusk side with some 10mm rounds in it under zombie apocalypse rules and send pics for proof) and you will get five starros from me. Otherwise, wear your green hat when you come out drinking because this G&T juice box is off the chain and ready to make you have nice time only vibes when the drink is in your hands or later on when you are thinking about the drink being in your hands once again.

Now I'm born and raised in Houston, so understand my shock when I found this gem. More like I was pointed in the right direction by my friend Ari. First and foremost I love spots like these an open also flee market space that holds multiple businesses. This one is restaurants. 712 main holds multiple restaurants and surrounds Swallow Nest. Sitting at the heart of the location. I came for visit and tried their tequila and pineapple made by Rick garnishes with a dried pineapple slice. Definitely a dope way to start my Friday. SN also include 6 huge flat screens playing sports for you to kick back and relax. They are located in the middle so get a good view no matter where you sit. Awesome first impression.

In town for the Final Four. Stopped in here for some evening drinks before heading back home the following morning. Was greeted and served by Terra, who was everything you could want in a bartender. She recommended what we were looking for, and even gave us some samples . Happy, pleasant, courteous, attentive.....you name it, she was it! If you are in the downtown Houston area, come by for a drink with Terra.....you will be glad you did!

    Good beer and tasty cocktails

We stopped in for lunch. We headed over to the bar for some adult beverages. Both choices were delicious, we ordered the yellow rose of Texas and a Jones on Main Street. Would recommend both selection.

My friend I went there having some food and cocktails. The drinks were good and strong enough. But I would not say it is a not great place for special occasions. Pricing I believe it wasn't too expensive and they don't have any happy hours. this place located Finn Hall with various food options. The only thing that I did not like about serving. Our food didn't come on time some of us had our food early and some of us came late. it can cause our food get cold. I won't say its but Just okay

a cocktail in a coupe glass

AMAZING. Their specialty drinks are top notch. I was introduced to this place because a friend recommended Finn Hall and they're located right in the middle of it all. Ileana was our bartender and is the most genuine person you'll ever meet. I highly recommend and will defiantly return. PS. Try the Irish Blossom.

No beer list which is a bit annoying. Ended up having an IPA that cost $10 which I thought was expensive for a food hall.

The food was the perfect amount of food for a late night meal and everything was fresh and flavor. I regret I don't remember the name of the drink I had, but it had rum, Ube, spices, and guava.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!
