There's no one at the Front Desk to apprise you how long the wait may be. A patient came in after me and was taken, while I continued sitting there! But there was no one to ask "What's going on?" After an hour, my lunch was over and I had to return to work. (Actually I should've left five minutes earlier to ensure I was back at my desk at the one hour mark, but I wanted to wait as long as possible and get the bloodwork done!) So not only did I not get the blood work done, but I had no time to get something to eat, which meant I was hungry and not at my best for work that afternoon, which was a problem.

When he showed me in to the collection room, I was very surprised that he was doing the needle stick himself; I had assumed that there was somebody working with him, things were moving so quickly. Interestingly, I had no sense of being rushed during my collection. Alex told me that this was a fairly new location for LabCorp; for me it was a home run: very convenient to my work, easy parking and a tech I'd seriously like to try and hire away from you guys... She did the paperwork and sent two people at a time to the inner room where she would then take the blood samples. When it was my turn, she was unable to pull the blood after several attempts. She asked and I explained that while I was fasting from food, I drank two or more glasses of water since waking. From years of experience I could tell she was not doing the procedure properly, when I tried to explain to her, which veins they normally pull the blood from, she tried for several minutes with no results. At this point she began to get frustrated and started using abusive language to me. She then proceeded to a different vein, but not before putting the bandaid on improperly, she put the bandaid vertically instead of horizontally, in doing so she was putting the adhesive portion of the bandaid on top of the open vein. I had this same thing done to me a few years back, which resulted in a nasty infection and swelling of my arm, so I quickly removed it and turned it crosswise. She then in mean and vicious way suggested I take back my scrip and go elsewhere. Also, before using the needle, on all three occasions she did not properly clean the area first, but barely gave a quick swipe with the swab. All and all it was a horrific experience, I would not wish on my worst enemy. And all this while the other patient listened in. This employee was totally untrained and unfit to deal with her assignment, and this is sooooo unfair to the customers, whose only fault was being there to give them our business. Having prayed to God for intervention, she was able to pull the blood on the third attempt and several minutes on each try, it was just horrible!

My teenager needed blood work done. We were told by his doctor not to eat or drink after midnight before his appointment. He was apparently dehydrated and so I was chastised about not giving him water to drink. She couldn't find the vein even though his veins were showing on his hand but the phlebotomist said they didn't have any butterflies. Amazing! Luckily, she was good at what she does or I would have raised hell. She got it in one poke. Thank goodness. No one hurts my son. So parents, if your kids' veins are hard to find, call and make sure they have experienced phlebotomists or butterflies. ***second review*** This does not change my terrible experience for my first son as this time around, my youngest had a great experience. The phlebotomist, Darla, was amazing with him. He was anxious from the night before and she did an amazing job calming him down. He did not feel anything because this time, they had the butterflies. She talked to him and was very engaging. She needs to train that other person. This place would be better for it. Changing the stars just because of this experience. They get 4 stars from 2. I would have given them 5 stars but the first experience takes that star away.

We got there a bit earlier, I was hoping to be taken sooner, but it didn't happen. But, at least we were taking right on our appointment time. We checked in at the self check in machine, it was pretty straightforward to use. There was a worker at the desk if you needed help. Phlebotomist , did her paper work and handle both my kids. Her energy was a bit low, but maybe she was having a long day. Kids said she was good with the needle and they didn't feel it ( so she gets a pass ) I would definitely go back if I have to.

The first sign that it was going to be a smooth appointment was when I pulled up to the massive parking lot.. so many open spots to choose from! The second sign was that I was called into the room literally within one minute of checking in for my appointment time. Things were looking good! One moment later, I had the good luck of receiving Glenyss as my lab technician. I was a "chatty-kathy" as I always am when it comes to needles, but her bedside manner, friendly & warm personality, and sense of humor really put me at ease. I had to get two vials drawn and I couldn't even feel or notice when she transitioned to the second one. It was over before I knew it! I've had blood drawn several times in my life and this was hands down, the best experience ever! On top of all that, Glenyss gave me a sticker from the movie Cars, as I "seem to be a car guy." I literally felt like a kid again.. how cool! LabCorp, if you're reading this... Glenyss over at your Rockville Center location for sure deserves a raise! The intake nurse phlebotomist quoted an immediate $30 dollar hold on my card when my co pay is $15. She quoted some arbitrary policy which made no sense to which I contested but just wanted to get it done. Made an online appointment for routine bloodwork, checked in on my phone and waited in my car. The phlebotomist (sorry didn't get her name) texted me when she was ready and I was taken quickly. Facility is small but very clean. The phlebotomist was suited up with full PPE and face shield (COVID era), the blood draw was efficient and quick, and I was out in very little time. LabCorp has a patient portal with online test results, so one needn't wait for pokey doctors to disclose results (or not). I love that!
