We had Racha Thai delivered for dinner. They had a bogo deal on the chicken pad Thai. The bowls were full and a good portion. I do wish there was more chicken. It was just a few pieces scattered throughout the dish. The noodles themselves were bland and dry. I recooked the food and seasoned it and it was better! I added sesame oil, chili crunch, garlic,kewpie, green onions, and sauce. The leftover bowl came out as one big stuck together noodle when we opened it. So we ate it kinda clumped together. If they'd add more sauce and flavor to the dishes, it could be more enjoyable. Or even offer a side of sauce to add extra if needed, that would be good. I prefer to order their food and spruce it up myself saving me time instead of cooking a whole meal. But it would be nice if it came ready to eat and tasty. We drive by this place all the time and never have gone in so we were curious to try. But I saw the recent reviews and was a little cautious it would be a terrible experience- and when we arrived on a Friday night only one other family was there further making me believe it will be bad. But that was so far from the truth!!! This was the BEST Thai restaurant I've ever tried here in Virginia Beach! The service was also incredible! The place is clean and very spacious. We ordered fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, lava shrimp, tom yum and pad Thai. Nothing was greasy, the shrimp was cooked excellent and weren't the tiny shrimp. They also give very nice portion sizes. I also couldn't believe how quick the food came. We will be back and this is our new Thai food spot! read more

I love Thai food. This was not great Thai food. The salad was the best part of our lunch. -Pros- service was very nice. The inside is beautiful . The salad was very good -Cons- the restaurant has not been opened long and the bathroom has a broken towel dispenser. What's up with that? Chicken spring rolls are extremely bland and the chicken was extremely dry. I had to salt it just to put some kind of flavor to the dry bland chicken. V16-Pad Kapau Tofu. The tofu was well seasoned and cooked wonderfully but the rest was not exciting. The heat was perfect. I also got shrimp pad see ewe. The most bland I have ever had. No flavor on the shrimp and wide noodles were over cooked. The seasoning on this dish was extremely light. BLAND was the theme I'm sorry because this is so close to where I can pick up a Thai meal. We will not go back. I drive by it all the time and there is only 1 or 2 cars in the parking lot. Now I see why. There is a lot of potential. Am not too sure. With all the 5 star reviews this place looked empty from the outside, on a Friday evening! You get seated right away of course. The decor is definitely Thai. There were just 4 more people to the corner. You get complimentary small salad with greens, shredded cabbage, julienned carrots, a slice of tomato, the ginger sauce was weirdly strong like artificial ascorbic acid mixed in. I ordered the beef noodle soup, maybe a good one to compare with other cuisine versions. I wanted to try the curry dishes but call me living under a rock I still get sticker shock when. I see an entree priced at $20. I ordered the beef noodle soup. What's noteworthy is the aroma of the beef broth, seems to have been simmered for a long time. Definitely a 5. My favorite Thai restaurant in the area has opened a second location!! If you haven't tried you MUST! I would drive 30+ mins from VB to Chesapeake just to have Thai food because it's that good. Take out is also consistently good too. Family owned and operated. Consistently great service and outstanding food, every single time, year after year. This location is no different, same food, same quality, same great experience. New location is very open, clean, casual atmosphere. Plenty of parking in the private plaza lot. They have great lunch deals that include a side salad. Sometimes they switch it up with a soup or even an egg roll. My noodles with salad only 10.99 for lunch. My 5/5 recommendations: -GIANT Thai iced tea only 5.99 -Soft Shell Crab Special if they have it! Racha Thai is definitely the best Thai in VB. Especially for my dish- Pad See Ew. I got addicted to it in NYC and every other Thai restaurant here seems to just dump sauce on the noodles rather than cooking it together. I can taste the goodness of Thai spices and oils in my noodles with Racha. They are super dank. I have ordered from them many times, every time it's great. Green curry with shrimp is amazing too. Tucked away in an unassuming shopping plaza off of Great Neck Rd, Racha Thai enticed us with their Khao Soi special written on a chalkboard outside. Khao Soi is one of my favorite Thai dishes but seems to be pretty rare on menus. The restaurant was mostly empty and very quiet for a peaceful early lunch. A-MAZIMG!! I just had a fabulous lunch! We dined on the specials. I was SO excited to see Khao soi! I've found it hard to find at most Thai restaurants, it's my FAVE and have craved it ever since I had it in Chiang Mai, 20 yrs ago. We also ordered the steamed pork dumplings and Moo ping ( marinated pork skewers ) with sticky rice. Our server was prompt and polite. Well attentive. I can only speak to the food, as I ordered take out. I had high hopes in light of all the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was not the same. The Pad Thai was ok, but I was expecting better. The major disappointment was the Chicken Satay appetizer...it was super dry and tough! It was the end of the night, but thought everything would have been cooked up fresh. Maybe they were just way overcooked. We ended up throwing them away. The pineapple chicken and rice (Kao Pad Sapporod)in the pineapple shell was super heavy on the yellow curry! We didn't eat much of that either. I will say they do a nice job on their steamed dumplings. All in all..super disappointing after spending $66 for two meals and two appetizers. Sorry to say, we will be going back to Tida Thai or Bangkok Gardens when we are in the mood for Thai food! read more

Updated Review for Racha Thai Cuisine - New Location (Takeout Only) I've ordered takeout several times since this location first opened, and while it's still a solid spot with room for improvement, I feel like something has changed in the last month or so. * Kao Pad Kapau (Basil Fried Rice): This used to be one of my favorite dishes here, especially at the Spicy level--it came with a great kick and was stir-fried well. But over my last three orders, the spice hasn't compared to what it used to be. The first two times I ordered Spicy, and the last time I tried Thai Spicy, but all three tasted the same with little heat. The rice also no longer feels like a proper stir-fry--it's soggier, almost as if sauce was poured over it rather than wok-fried. One order even had noticeable clumps of plain white rice that weren't mixed in. On top of that, the meat portions seem smaller than before. * Massaman Curry: Still consistently good and flavorful. Even at the Thai Spicy level, it doesn't bring much extra heat, but I continue to enjoy the taste overall. However, one of my recent orders wasn't sealed properly, and about half the curry spilled into the takeout bag by the time I got it home. Overall, I'm glad to have Racha Thai Cuisine close by, and I'll probably keep ordering from time to time. That said, I do hope they bring back the stronger spice levels and improve the consistency in preparation, since those changes would make a big difference. read more

WOW! This place has been open for about a month or so now, we don't live far, and we LOVE Thai food. We've been meaning to go sooner, but today was our first time in trying out Racha Thai Cuisine. We have found a great and new Thai restaurant, Racha Thai Cuisine is going to now be our new go to Thai food restaurant, no doubt. Absolutely delicious food, we ordered takeout online from the "All Day Menu" (not the Lunch or Vegan choices) L18. Racha Pad Tha & L 19. Pad See Ew it's worth saying again that yes they were both delicious, and the portion sizes were great as well. It filled me up, the wife had leftovers, spice levels, we both went for medium (No Spice, Mild, Medium, then the HOTTER levels) the wife will go for the mild next time, I don't mind hot, but I will probably stick with the medium. They had just opened for the day, and the Thai female who greeted me was very kind and helpful, I had questions. So yeah, no doubt, we will be regulars. read more
