Service is extremely fast. It is a small restaurant but don't let that fool you. They do a amazing take out service. When they say it is ready in 10 minutes it will probably be ready in 5 minutes. They are great. The fried rice is just the way I like it. HOT and FRESH and most places are dry and hard on the rice. Their rice is Perfect. Peking City is a higher quality Chinese restaurant than many others. The walnut shrimp is absolutely delicious-jumbo deep fried shrimp in a delicious sauce. I crave this dish and would come just for it! The sesame chicken is high quality. Crab Rangoon is one of my favorite dishes in general, but I would love to see Peking City redesign them to have more filling and less fried outside. I pulled in this evening on a whim because our usual "go -to," take-out place one strip-lot over was closed on Mondays. I had completely spaced on that fact, and after searching for 4th grade art project supplies?! I was DONE, SON! So- HRH#2(little son) of course could not have new Lo Mein cross his lips or dare to try anything, ... so I stuck with my guns and got that for Daddy and myself- we can eat cardboard, that's how we fell in love. I got little one McDonald's while I waited for carry out. OhMYGAWD!! This food was beyond delicious. The meat on the "beef on a stick was sooooo tender, and the Lo Mein was, I kid you not, SUPERB!" It was so nice to go home, ex-freaking-xhausted and just slide that msgdeliciousness urrrly goodness right into mah BELLY! Wife and I eat here every other Saturday for lunch. You can't beat the price for such generous portions of food & amazing service. Wife is particularly fond of their beef lomein where i choose their General Chicken. Along with your main entree comes choice of soup & rice & egg roll. read more

Ordered Peking Duck for takeout. No contact process where both parties are protected. Now to the food, the Duck was delicious and juicy they serve with thin wraps instead of the buns which I prefer because you can eat more! The scallions were fresh and when paired with the Duck, plum sauce and well textured rice. (Chefs Kiss) Definitely recommend it! Oh the wraps are kinda large but it's cool, I just folded in half and separated two halves to create one stuffed wrap. Wonderful food experience. read more

I have been to many Chinese Restaurants around Virginia Beach and Norfolk and I can say this is one of the best if not the best. Ever since I have been a little boy I have been coming to Peking City for Chinese food and have been satisfied with my meals every time. My favorite dishes I have had over the years are the Crispy Prawns with orange peal, General Tso's chicken, Honey Chicken, Happy family, Sweet and Sour Chicken and chicken Lo mein. Pan fried dumplings- I like them. Folded in half circles and pan fried on one side. Filling is tender and flavorful. Dipping sauce is sweet soy sauce with a very faint heat/spicy. I'm very sensitive to spicy things and the dipping sauce is perfect. A very slight slow buildup in your mouth. Hot and sour soup-- My Mom loved it. And she's super picky about hot and sour soup. Have been dining at Peking for years. Always love their Mongolian beef, egg roll and fried Chicken wings. Very tasty and quite authentic. Environment is quiet and relaxing. This is the place locals always go after work, or during the weekend. I like their art work on the wall. Owner and waiters are friendly. They would even remember your "usual". The worst Chinese food in town!!! Egg rolls were filled with shredded cabbage only. No other veggies or meat. The "honey glazed" spare ribs were not glazed with anything and the meat was drier than the bone. Lastly, the Kung Pao Chicken tasted like is was stir fried in lighter fluid. First and last time we will order from them. The Hunan chicken was not spicy and the bamboo shoots smelled like dirty socks. I didn't think this dish was suppose to have bamboo shoots. Ordered dinner from here tonight. I asked for curried chicken with no veggies. I always feel like these places put too many veggies, so I get it without. Anyway the chicken just tasted off...can't put my finger on it but it just tasted funny. Hubbs enjoyed the cashew chicken. We shared fried fried dumplings as well. They were great. This has been our "go to" place for Chinese for a couple of years. But tonight we were very disappointed. Got take out and they gave us the wrong soup. The egg rolls tasted greasy like they were yesterday's and reheated but had been setting for a while. The Mongolian beef was greasy and had a very bad taste. All the vegetables in the beef were soggy. The fried rice was bad. Tasted like it was two days old. Even the fortune cookies were stale and the fried noodles for the soup were greasy and stale. So bad I won't give them a second chance. This is the first time I have ever made a review but after having something this bad I had to comment. read more
