I had major setbacks and spent 2 full months in the hospital. Thankfully, I returned home to a wife that had been extraordinarily well cared for during my unexpected absence. Caregivers showed up when scheduled and provided all the services one would expect from a professional organization. Compassionate and caring, I just wish I would have hired them from the beginning. She was suffering from Parkinson's disease then had some falls resulting in to two incidences of broken hips. Needless to say, a really rough time previous to her arriving at De Un Amor, but once there things smoothed out greatly for her. I really can't say enough about how much we appreciated our mom being in such a pleasant place. The facility itself is bright and inviting; and the outside grounds with an orchard one side and a creek on the other is so very nice. The staff are all very kind, attentive and caring toward the residents and visitors. When I first visited De Un Amor I said to the owner, Trygve, "I want to live here"; to which he laughed and commented, "everyone says that." So in summation I guess the best I can say about the place is that I would be content to have my sunset there.

Unfortunately my experience with caregiving through Right AT Home has not been good. Caregiver is…read morenot required to arrive on time despite multiple conversations. In addition, Right At Home does not guarantee coverage when caregivers are unable to be at work. Parents receiving caregiving have been left without caregiver support. Most recently caregiver arrived with cold symptoms with no screening by the agency and had to be sent home. Concerns brought to the management of Right at Home were dismissive. He listened to our situation, provided me with insight and contact information on the local facilities, explained what I needed to know, and what to consider when reaching out to these prospective places. His advice was invaluable. He was always there for me, whenever I had questions. He was super responsive, emailing back or calling right away. And through this process my mom kept changing her mind about where she wanted to live (mid-peninsula near her friends, south bay near me), and so our requirements kept changing. Through it all Alan was patient and positive - something I really needed during this stressful time. I seriously have no idea how I would have handled this whole situation without him. Since then the place kept going up and down in quality of care, and finally took a serious dive. Now it's awful. The help is unqualified, communication between caregivers and administration is non-existent. They claim memory care - they have no clue. They warehouse the more advanced cases. It seems all the actions are aimed at making it convenient for the facility not for the residents. They lose and destroy residents' clothing and belongings. Just awful.
