No service folks have ever breathed a word of help because they will not pick up. Seems to be the same for the Berkeley location. Our Rad Runner 2 got a rear flat tire. It's very easy to schedule an appointment with Rad Power (I called but it can be scheduled online). Everybody from the service department is very friendly and helpful. The person who fixed our tire today (I believe it's Omar) took only 15 minutes and charged us for only 15 minutes' labor. They patiently answered my questions and explained what happened to the tire, how I can use pressure meter to check the tire pressure to avoid getting a flat tire, how I can take off and patch the tire, etc. Highly recommend this Rad service center! read more

In short - False advertising, lies, and 0 product support.  I should have returned the bike immediately.  Check your bike thoroughly before leaving the showroom to make sure you're getting all you paid for. * 7/16: Visited the berkley store to check out the Expand5.  Great people, and good experience (though I would recommend coming early when it's not too busy).  Did a test ride, and was impressed with the Expand5 - they also addressed the biggest concern I had which was the exposed wires when you fold the bike.  In the Expand5 on display and the test bike I rode, they all had electrical conduit running through the frame of the bike protecting the cables from being damaged or pinched when folding and unfolding.  Fantastic!  I dropped $1.6k and got the bike right there.   * 7/17: Assembled the bike which was very straight forward.  Noticed differences between what I had and what I saw in the store.  The brakes were different, but more annoyingly, there was nothing protecting the cables running through the frame of the bike.   * 7/18: Called RadPower Berkley showroom and spoke with someone - they said that there are some differences in the bikes depending on where they are manufactured.  The bikes they have in the showroom have this conduit/sleeve though the one I ended up with didn't.  They asked that I call Product Support.  I called product support - they said they would research and get back to me. * 7/19: was surprised and elated to see a ticket was created for my request, and they requested pictures. It's 8/5 now and 7/19 was the last update I received from support.  After that, I've called them about 6 times to get status and updates.  Most recently (4 days ago) I was assured that the issue would be raised to a supervisor and a "higher level support staff" who may be able to help...So far, absolutely nothing.  I could call them again and again and again...but what's the point.  Why should I expect anything different?  I think their only purpose is to get people past the 14 day return window....that's all they did for me...thank you... I can understand that some brands of things can be different especially given the current supply chain issues.  I don't care about the brakes and they don't even mention brands of these things on their website as they can in fact vary.  This electrical conduit is a NEW FEATURE addressing the most requested/talked about thing from Mini owners.  In fact, it's not even available as a part or accessory!  Seeing it on every bike in the showroom and not on the bike I purchased is an absurdity, false advertising, and simply wrong.   Check your bike thoroughly before you leave the showroom.  Make sure you are actually getting what you're paying for.  I didn't, and now here I am stuck with a bike which irritates the heck out of me every time I look at it. read more

Recently, per conversations I was told last week by a supervisor desk person that the accessories promised with purchase were not in stock and had no idea when the basket and helmet were going to be available and they were not aware of this promo the male said. RAD Power Bikes after three months, deliberately sent the wrong size helmet to our home after a series of phone calls, knowing I ordered a size large helmet for my son. This was a purchase w purchase Rover Plus my second Rover within days, I just received the items today ie a usb charger that I said was the only item we took home along with the Rover Plus. I have been working in retail for over 20 years. This store has the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. Unfriendly. Not very knowledgeable. I couldn't get very basic questions answered like charging or range for the different models. I am a novice in electric bicycles and feel these are very standard questions. Everyone seems to lean in this direction for price but something seems disingenuous about them. The test ride was fun, but things went south after that. I purchased a bike, was told it would take 72 hours to be built. Was never able to reach anyone by phone after numerous attempts, so stopped by the store after 4 days. Was told that it would actually take another week to be built. Then I got a phone call later that same day from a different associate who said my bike would be ready in 2 days. Then I checked my email to discover I had been issued a refund! No explanation, no phone call, no indication whatsoever as to why my purchase was apparently canceled. I'm so confused, and clearly Rad Power is too. Our two Rad City 5's are our first eBikes and we are having a blast riding them. I also like the videos for putting them together. However, I do have a big problem with Rad and that is getting accessories. One problem is stock - would like to have battery contact covers but its been over a month and still no stock. The other is very long times to get accessory orders they do stock based on two experiences. I called the first time as it had been a week and Fedex tracking still only said label created. Rad rep said Fedex Savannah had the orders but sometimes they sit in a truck a while before scanning. Well Fedex finally got around to scanning them and we got the first order in two weeks, a day before we were leaving on a biking trip. I ordered a couple battery cases a week ago and having the same problem as the first accessory order - Fedex tracking still says only Label Created. Done with ordering from Rad until the find a new shipping service. read more

I admit- I was scared. The RAD power bikes are Machines, built for distance and use with all sorts of options for children, pets, cargo- even surfboards, and more. Pricy, but way less than a car. Then I won one, just for renewing my membership with Bike East Bay, who's goals align with mine anyway. The staff at the Berkeley RAD shop were awesome, setting me up with everything I needed for a safe ride and security (locks, rear view mirror, it comes with lights already). At under 5 feet, the folding RAD expand5 fits me well. With its fat tires and frame, it's a great bike for friends of all sizes as well as for me. Little old me just joined a whole new community of RAD bicyclists, out in the fresh air and living without a car. Did I mention, despite being low on some items, the busy staff at RAD are awesome? read more

i would like to give them zero stars. they sold me a top line bike in 2021, which i used sparingly. the motor they claim would last up to 10,000 miles, lasted only a bit over 300 miles. now they insist on charging me full freight for the failed motor because it took me more than a year to ride the motor to failure (300+ miles). its horrible customer service. i will never do business with them again. never. This Berkeley location was incredible! If you've even gone to a Bike Shop then you know that the staffs at these places are usually arrogant and don't have much time for casual bike riders. Not this place! Nope. The Staff was phenomenal. All of them. In particular, Sam. I can't say enough about his friendliness, professionalism, and knowledge. The pedal assist on my Radcity5 wasn't kicking in reliably, and sometimes the rear light wouldn't switch to flashing mode. Jason diagnosed the problem - I had tightened up my front brake lever so much that the controller registered the front brake as still engaged after I released the handle. Shout out to Alisha at the Rad Store in Berkeley! I took my RadRover there over the weekend to have it serviced. Before my trip up there, I just didn't feel like dealing with putting it on the rack myself (hubby wasn't home, and I have an injured arm) so before I left home, I asked my son-in-law to come by and help. On my drive up, I pondered and hoped I could get parking close by so someone could help me lift the bike off the rack. I arrived at the store, and Alisha greeted me, and while the store was already busy, she kept promising to help me asap, which I appreciated. When she was finally able to assist, I explained I needed help. She said, "no problem, let's go". We got to my car, I unlocked the bike rack, and was ready to lift one end while she lifted the other when she said "no problem, I got this". She proceeded to stand directly behind my car, grabbed the bike frame with both hands, and lifted it off the rack like she was lifting a barbell. I told her how impressive that was and she jokingly said, " what use am I working at a bike shop if I can't lift a bike?" But these beasts are no ordinary bikes! In a nutshell, Alisha and the entire rad team were great to work with, nice as can be, and made my three-hour wait fly by. I almost wanted to stay and ride around Berkeley but had a 1.5-hour drive home, so I said goodbye. It was a good experience. read more

I had a great experience at Rad Power Bikes Berkeley. I visited for the first time before the holidays during a sale on older models. I hadn't been on a bike in years, but I had been thinking about purchasing a Rad Power bike for 3+ years. The man who assisted us couldn't have been more helpful. I was there to see the Rad City bike, and was able to test drive two models (3 and 5) and compare the Rad City to other bikes. The staff person helped us make a good decision without any sales push. We were unable to buy one onsite because the color I wanted was sold out in stores (again, no sales push just an effort to help me get what worked best for me), but I purchased the Rad City 3 in white online two days later. The bike arrived quickly and as expected. I couldn't be happier with the ride. I feel like a kid again (though I am cycling to and from work). I have to climb a couple of big hills to get home and the bike performs exactly as I need it to. Again, many thanks to the gentleman who helped us out (I'm sorry I forgot your name). read more

We have had 2 RAD's and ordered a 3rd, my daughter also has one. With the first 2 bikes I drove from Sacramento to purchase during a sale window. We have had lots of issues with nonexistent warranty work available in our area (not going to Berkeley every time we need something!) the two shops recommended, Fair Oaks & Rocklin, did not do the work w/o charge. but we love riding the bikes so put up with it. Then my son want to upgrade to a RAD City 5, ordered on line. The key pad was in the bottom of the box in pieces, but able to put back together luckily. Charged it then in 2 minutes literally, the bike stopped working. Will not charge at all, making it unusable ($1,938.00 dead bike). Don't know if it is a display problem or a battery problem. Been trying to return the bike since 7/15. Every store, Berkeley and all the rest except Seattle do.not.answer.the.phone. Nor does the chat line. There is no telephone number for headquarters. Seattle tried several times to help us by sending messages to the help/support center to no avail. One person said to send it back at my cost $149.00. Why should I pay to return a bike that never worked? I have been emailing help/support for 6 wks! At one point I got a return email saying "haven't heard from you in three days, so we consider the matter solved". WHAT??? So frustrating and really too bad, don't know how this company can survive with this kind of "service". Because of this experience and the poor all around service we sold the two RAD's we had already and hopefully will be able to get this one returned at some point, assuming they ever help me. I will never deal with or recommend them again. read more

These are the nicest folks we've ever bought bikes and then ongoing service from. Just for example: Today: Sean hopped in the car to show us a special parking spot, then got a colleague and unloaded our bikes and walked us to the service dept. We'd missed the free tune up deadline by many months due to serial covid running thru the family and the subsequent utter Wipeout around time and timing. Sean forgave the miss and granted the free tuneups. Who does this ( anymore)? Honestly you feel like family in this place. And then there are the free demo rides... The BEST. read more

We ordered 2 RadRover 6 bikes, which we received in December. Very excited to get them assembled (pretty easy, even by myself, although a second set of hands would have been great). The bikes seem pretty sturdy, and are easy to ride and operate. I had a headlight that didn't work, and Rad replaced it quickly and no charge. I had some issues with the derailleurs needing adjustment. I reached out to customer service who advised it was an easy adjustment. They included a link to instructions. Or, they said, I could take it to a bike shop. Following the instructions it was quite easy to adjust the detaileur on bike #1. But I just can't get bike #2 dialed in. Chain rattles and skips 2nd gear is as good as I can get it. Rad told me they won't cover the cost of the adjustment if I take it to a bike shop, which is a minimum $20. This seems very wrong. This is a brand new bike, and it should function perfectly without the need for me to spend additional $$$. read more

They were very busy because this is a popular bike, but I was asked by 3 different people if I needed help. I had a great test drive, and a pleasant time with the purchase. Terrible quality electronics. Headlight failed after turning it off, and on. I was told that this is a known issue requiring the replacement of a defective electronic motor controller. Not sure if the defect is due to poor quality materials, workmanship, or both. No wonder that their bikes are priced at popular, affordable price points. I wonder what else may fail. The power to the motor? Rather than having the stock controller replaced with a second one that may, or may not prove defective in the future, I discovered an aftermarket controller called a Bolton sold by a company called area 13. The stock controller apparently has many warranty issues. I do not want to be stranded on the roadside due to a defective controller. A bonus is that the Bolton controller allows the motor to produce more torque than the stock one does. In addition through my research I find that the motor is not reall a 750 watt unit. As the internals of a true 750 watt Bafang motor have much larger coils. Photo below. It must be less than a 750 watt motor. Too bad that they have to cut corners on the quality of their electronic components to fill their popular price points. read more

This company may have good bikes but their customer service is the worst. I would never advise anyone to buy a bike from them. They take 2 weeks to reply to emails and that's the only way to get in touch with service. They do not take calls. DO NOT BUY! You will be sorry. There are so many good e bikes out there. You do not need their aggravation. And the bikes weigh so much I can not find a bike rack that will hold my bike on a class one hitch. I wish I had done more homework before I bought. Bottom line after reading other customers reviews I am not the only one not satisfied with their customer service. It has to be the worlds worst!! Costumer service is the most important part when buying this bike. If I could post all the emails sent to them it would take forever. Always an excuse why they have not contacted me. It was mediocre. I called with my concerns about a purchase of a new bike I received that I ordered on the website. I explained that the bike I received had a few issues. The front brake was bent, the bell was bent and did not work. Also the battery had a large chip out of it and a crack that looked like it could get worse over time in the side of it. Clearly something happened when it was shipped. When I spoke to the service department they said to come in and they would take care of it. I couldn't get an appointment for about a week and a half which I had to schedule on the website(which I don't mind and it was easy). When I brought the bike into the service department I explained the issues and they said they would do what they could. They said they couldn't fix the bell because they didn't have extra bells. So I received a $15 return so I could purchase one myself. As far as the battery I would have to contact corporate and here is the number. This didn't sit with me well. I made a phone call and went through the different people to get it taken care of. After many emails and pictures sent back and forth I received a $50 gift card. Well I now want to return my bike because I don't pay for a damaged product. The communication between the service department and corporate did not seem to exist. this was worth the trip to berkeley to radpower bike. my sister and i did a test drive on radrover5 and sister the radrunner. my sister was a little hesitant to ride didnt want to be embarrassed if she forgot how to ride. enter taylor.she talk to my sister showed whats going on with different bikes. it was at least a half taylor with sister. they went inside and my sister fell inlove with a green radrunner. what i loved about taylor she did'nt act like a salesperson. i thought we was an educator on rad.she went out of her way to educate us. what a personality and her laugh is her personality. thank you taylor. read more
