We LOVE Indian food so we were super excited to try this restaurant since they specialize in food from the Gujarati region. Majority of the dishes were foreign to us which made it more intriguing. This review (and most reviews of small local businesses) are tough to write. I want to be honest but I also don't want it to affect the businesses score or ranking simply because I didn't connect with the food. This is our first time trying many of these dishes so we can't say how well it was made. We know we didn't fall in love with anything, which sort of made us sad. We were hoping to discover a great new place with new cuisines. The service was great. Our server did his best to explain the dishes to us and share his insight on what we could try as first timers. The menu was unique and this is the first place ever that has a kathiyawadi thali. I was so impressed. We ordered a Kathiyawadi thali and Bombay sandwich, and oh they were both super delicious. We had bajri rotla and puri with undhiyu, potato sabzi, khichdi, kadhi and pickle. Everything was spot on! The place was not that crowded when we went and so service was quick. Well...at least the sugarcane juice was good. I was told by a friend to go here because the Gujarati food was amazing. Maybe they were having an off night, I don't know, but this was one of the worst Gujarati meals I've had in my life. We ordered quite a bit: khandvi, dabeli, mooli paratha, gobi paratha, puran poori, and sugarcane juice. Ran about $34 for 3 people. Khandvi was decent, the tamarind chutney was good, the coriander and chili chutney. Completely lackluster. Both parathas lacked any sort of seasoning or salt. Dabeli was a let down. The dabeli itself was just chutneys, smashed potatoes, soggy sev, and peanut. All of this was put on a smashed hamburger but that ended up being way too soggy by the time it got to our table. The restaurant itself had two other occupied tables, both of which had already gotten their food. Once we gave our order, the food came out one by one, with the sugarcane coming out halfway through our meal. By the time the parathas came out, I was already almost finished with my dabeli order. I don't know if the other items on the menu are any better, but with my first experience with this place, I won't be returning. read more

Pretty good so far. It was my first time here and I thought it was A-OK. The ambiance is ok, the waitstaff were friendly enough, the food was tasty, but the price is just OK. I thought the price could've been cheaper but it is a restaurant compared to many other Indian places I've been to where it is a market/restaurant. So I guess you can't compare. This restaurant has brought serious joy into my life. My husband and I make a point to come here at least a couple times a month. Every time we come, we order the same thing: Gujarathi thali with roti. For those not schooled in the ways of cheap Indian food, thali is a big metal plate with lots of compartments for multiple portions of different dishes. Every time we come, they serve it with something different, usually some variant on lentils, chickpeas, potatoes, eggplant, or mung beans. You get a portion of jasmine rice, and a stack of roti (like a little wheat tortilla). There is also a small portion of shrikhand, which is a sweet yogurt food that is flavored with mango, saffron, cardamom. When I am dead and in heaven, I will be sitting on a fluffy cloud and eating shrikhand for all of eternity, I just know it. Everything is always completely vegetarian, spicy, and intoxicatingly good. The proprietors are super nice, and there is usually some quality Indian cinema playing on the screen above their display case. Usually if you polish off your roti or anything else, they'll offer you another serving of whatever it was that you plowed through so quickly. And if you are some kind of bottomless pit that still has room after finishing the thali, they have a huge selection of tantalizing sweets to take home with you. My favorite is the mango burfi, but they're all amazing. I am a lover of Indian food in general, but this place is a rare gem. I often wish it was closer, but I guess Anaheim is closer than Gujarat, which is probably the only other place with food this good. read more

I went here when I craved Indo-Chinese food. It was at 2 PM on Sunday and the place was empty. I am from India and am deceived with the other reviews here in Yelp for this place. I found the Indo-Chinese food (Fried rice and Manchurian) VERY salty and not authentic to Indian style or taste. Fried Rice: Orange colored with Green Onions, carrot, cilantro. No green beans. Served with Sriracha sauce. I did not taste Vinegar. FYI That is a key ingredient. Along with pepper. Manchurian:Extremely salty, and honestly not fresh. I am confident it was not cooked in the kitchen and was a pre-packaged food reheated. When I asked for sauce to be removed, the got back with by dipping the manchurian balls in water. I was told that by the owner himself and then he decided not to charge me for it and it was taken away since I was not happy. That was reasonable. The owner was nice enough to not charge me for Manchurian since I complained. The price for this dish is also steep. Pros: 1. Owner is a polite person. You rarely find polite servers & owners in a Indian restaurant. 2. I have not ordered their Gujarathi food and I believe it would be much better than Indo-Chinese and even fresh probably. Cons: 1. Food itself is bad. 2. Zero presentation. I was given food is used plates or they looked used / unclean. Water was offered in a steel jug with a glass made of plastic. Really? You are supposed to maintain sanity in plates/glasses at the very least. 3. Food is not prepared fresh. It appears it is reheated. All the 5 star reviews here are desperate ones. They never really ate "authentic" Indian food & hence wrong rating. I ate 50% of Fried rice, packed 50% in ToGo box. While I drove, the Togo box fell down when I hit brakes and I had to throw the box away, unfortunately. Divine intervention! read more

The office I work at is about 3.5 miles from this place and its worth the drive for me. My Japanese boss only wants to eat Japanese food and I'm totally sick of eating at the same 3 spots he goes to in rotation. So I lie to my boss and say I have someone to meet during lunch and check out places like this. I don't know Indian food all that well, but I have had it about a solid 2 dozen times. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is because, well, it's not the absolute best Indian food I've ever had but it is good and I'll definitely be back here. I probably would've gave them that one extra star if they served MEAT! I love meat! Not hating, just saying. I try all kindsa new foods whenever I can and the people here went out of their way to explain to me what everything is and what I may like. I had their Gujarati Thali, which I asked to have both roti (like a tortilla) and puffed puri (fried flat bread). It came with all kindsa spicy sides. A really tasty soup, a curry type thing with chickpeas, another spicy delight with potatoes, white rice and spicy pickles. I'm bad at describing this, I know. Bottom line. Give this place a chance. Vegetarian Noodles have a great taste!! I placed an order for 150 kids. Chetan, the owner, opened the shop early to provide me with the order. The order was more than enough and ALL the kids, including 25 adults, ate the noodles. Everyone liked the noodles as if they were home made. Chetan opened the shop early to accommodate our request, the noodles were freshly prepared, and he even gave us sauce (additional item for free) in a separate box if someone wanted to make the noodles spicy for their taste. The people here do not know how to treat their customers with respect. I was yelled at and mean mugged by an employee here the other day, who was some 6 foot tall with 5 inches, weighing roughly 250 pounds. I will call him the tall unreasonable man. The story is as follows. I entered the facility shortly after my friend's husband had walked in to pay for some food to go. My destination was the restroom, and upon going to the restroom the tall unreasonable man barked loudly "hey hey hey," as if he did not approve my usage of their facility. My Indian friend quickly informed the tall unreasonable man that I was with him as he paid for the order. Nonetheless, when I exited the bathroom, the tall unreasonable man was waiting for me OUTSIDE of the bathroom, with his nose twisted and all, pacing back and fourth, staring down at me with an intimidation look as I walked out of the facility. As a black Latina woman who is a mere 5'2 and 130 pounds, I cannot help but to wonder to what extent my race might have played a role. Guess what Radhe Sweets and Catering, not all black people are criminals out to get you. While the food here may be good, it is obvious that their employees lack cultural competence and basic human compassion. If you are black or Latinx person, watch out for the tall unreasonable man. If you believe in human compassion, I do not recommend spending your dollars here, as this business operation lacks equal treatment to all customers. read more

I don't even really know what I got.. but it was good. 2 appetizers and 2 meals. My friend got a yogurt / mango smoothie she liked, I had a coffee drink, it was great. Service was good. The owner said he's been there 5 years, I don't know why there aren't more reviews. I have to keep the 5 star rating going. No complaints. It does appear to be ALL VEGETARIAN, which suited my companion as she is vegetarian. When they say potatoes with a dish, keep in mind its sweet potatoes. I think that threw my friend off. I would return. There are a lot of 'sweets' available up at the counter, I am not sure what they are. I am by no means an expert on Indian food (how many of us in O.C. are, really?); so this review is just by a regular gal who likes tasty goodies of all types. Radhe TOTALLY fits the bill! I can heartily recommend the Sev Puri; it tasted just like summertime - a little spicy, a little sweet, and with herby freshness supplied by the cilantro. The Dosas (Masala and Mysore Masala) were both huge and spicy, but not too hot for this Swedish chick. They will adjust the spiciness to your own tastes; don't be afraid to ask, although they will advise you if you seem unsure. The Paratha (Gobi - cauliflower) was also delicious, and probably much better for us than the quesadilla it looked like. Finally, the sweets - oh, heavens! The gentlemen in the store described the delicacies in the case to us and even let us have tastes of them before we chose. If you've never tried Indian sweets do so with an open mind. They seem to me to be a cross between cookies and candies. Be sure to get a few to take home to enjoy with a cup of tea. They are sold by the pound, and they put them in cute little boxes to take home. The problem is - I can see myself bring a lot of those little boxes home with me in the future - YUM! read more

We had this place catered at a wedding we attended. The food was hot and it was served well. It also seemed to have enough for all of the attendants of the wedding. Unfortunately, the food was hit and miss. Some of the items were quite delicious and I wanted more of, and some of the items were just very dry and bland. Totally messed up my lunch today. Ordered Gobi Paratha but initially they put no salt so they replaced but then with super extra salt. More than that they not actually replaced it but they cut the old paratha for one side and put extra salt instead of preparing it again. So cheap. The guy didn't even say sorry but said me he is not charging me the paratha price. Wow, can someone be so rude than this? Holy galloping deliciousness. I don't even know where to start. Working on Valley View on the edge of Buena Park and La Mirada really sucks for food options. Like, it seriously eats the big pussy. Deciding to try a diet of (mostly) vegetarianism has only increased the challenge to find anything I want to eat. Enter: yelp. I dug around and found this Radhe place one afternoon last month (2012-Oct). I've always had a sort of iffy relationship with strictly vegetarian Indian restaurants. Usually I leave feeling like, "Oh, yea, I ate something. Ok. Whatever." Compared to meatatarian Indian restaurants, which have always resulted in a decidedly more pronounced response, whether positive or negative. Given that I like to love what I eat, I was sort of apprehensive. But I was fucking hungry, and this was the closest all veggie place to work that I had found, and so, based on several of the reviews I read, I decided to chance it. My first time through, I ordered the samosa chaat and the Gujarati thali - which is an astonishing amount of food, by the way. It's a good thing my motivation for experimentation with vegetarianism was motivated more by improving my health than my weight, cuz: DAMN! With the very first bite of the samosa chaat, I knew I had done the right thing. It was THE perfect blend of sweet and savory and spicy and crunchy and mushy and chewy and wet and dry. I had to exercise significant self control to keep from licking the plate clean. MORE! GIVE ME MORE! The thali- which is served with a cup of ginger-y broth soup, rice, either roti or puri, papadum and other bits of crunchies, two curries, and dessert (which I will cover all on its own)- that day included potato and vegetable curry, and yellow lentils. The soup has a few peanuts in it, which adds to the flavor and texture. If the samosa chaat wasn't enough of a flavor explosion, the soup sealed the deal. Again, I found myself practically licking the serving container. The potato and vegetable curry also had some peanuts mixed in. I don't even know how to explain the taste. It was so simple, and yet so complex all at once. Spicy, but mild. And the lentils were perfection. Save for the rice, which I found I didn't need to touch, given the roti and the crunchies, the plate went back clean. Now, the dessert. They are "Radhe SWEETS," so it should have come as little surprise that the dessert would be unbelievable. But, I have to agree with a previous poster: "When I am dead and in heaven, I will be sitting on a fluffy cloud and eating shrikhand for all of eternity, I just know it." To add to that: there is no doubt in my mind that shrikhand is the reason why sugar was invented. Saffron sweet yogurt. The taste is so amazing, I want to bathe in it, just so that I am forced to lick it off of my body. I drove back to work that first time screaming. Literally: screaming in my car. " HOLY SHIT! THAT WAS AMAZING!" Every single bite was a little bit of happiness. In the last month since discovering this treasure, I have brought two different groups of coworkers, my housemate, and a vegetarian friend who just moved to CA from the east coast.. and have been probably six more times over that on my own. I've typically stuck with the Gujarati thali, and in doing so have gotten to sample the palak paneer, mattar paneer, a couple versions of mixed vegetable curry (some with cauliflower!), red lentils, what I can only describe as tiny black garbanzos, I think a malai kofta, and a couple different versions of potato curry (some mixed with vegetables, some just potatoes), and every single bite has been as rewarding as the first. I cannot say this about any other establishment that I can think of anywhere ever. Deeply satisfying eating. Also: sugarcane juice. Just drink it... you can thank me later. Others have ordered the masala dosa, and the Kathiyawadi thali. Everyone has been thoroughly pleased. By going with friends, I have also been able to sample the potato wada, and the Radhe special chaat. All: total perfection. I've also started, over the last three or four visits, to sample the sweets from the bakery counter. There have been some slight misses (which is to say that I wasn't convulsing in pleasure), but those slight misses have been balanced by huge wins (which is to say I feared I might damage my optic nerve from rolling my eyes so far and so hard). I don't know the names of any of them, tho, so I can't really advise on them. Just point and click and be prepared for anything. The orange nut balls in the refrigerated counter on the left are total wins, and the brown square things in the counter on the right were excellent. And: BONUS! Shrikhand by the pound! You mean I can take this with me!? I am so grateful to have found this place. I used to say, if I had to pick only one type of cuisine to eat ever again for ever, that I would pick Indian. Last night I went here for the second time with my family. We were a little nervous because it was the first real dinner outting for our twin boys. The server came up right away to take our order, obviously understanding the baby countdown we were competing with. We tried to remember what we had the last time, but couldn't, so we picked out what sounded good. A moment later they began bringing food to our table. Everything was so incredibly good. Lots of "Mmmmm!" and "Oh yeah! Eat this!" But mostly there was just the sound of our voracious munching. Just as we experienced the first time we came to Radhe's, the plates continued to come out, and we thought, "Did we really order all this?" I ordered hakka noodles for our boys, and had trouble not keeping them all to myself. Everything we ordered could have stood on its own. The boys loved their hakka noodles. The owner, and perhaps his family, stopped by our table to compliment our boys on their appetite. Even though there was a steady mess of noodles puddling around our table, they made us feel completely at ease and welcomed. This restaurant is totally special. The food is spot on, the low price makes you feel like your stealing, and the service makes you feel all warm and fuzzy and catered to. Eat here, and tip well. read more

I thought this was a order at the counter and get your food kind of deal so when we walked in it was like what to do now. The very nice man gave us menus and sat us down. It was my first time trying Indian so I had no idea what anything meant. He helped us make a decision. I got a pancake with potato filling and chutney. When it came out my mouth dropped, it was huge! The wrap was so crunchy and paired nicely with the filling. The man also gave us samples of the yogurt which was soooo creamy and good, the mango one is delicious. We also got the mango lassi which tastes like a mango smoothie and the sugarcane juice that had added ginger and lemon. It was the first time I had sugarcane juice with those add ons but it was very good. It was a Thursday afternoon so there was only another table in there.
