The old school law chairs in the outdoor space make you feel like you're at a friends backyard and not a bar. They also offer free bottled water (so you can stay hydrated!) and free popcorn. They also have games you can as well as blankets for when it's colder outside. There's always been some kind of food for purchase being served up, and they have so many events going on! This is my favorite neighbor find. Love hanging out there and watching sports. The owner is always fun and interesting to talk to - staff is great. They have a great cocktail menu and some potent tiki drinks. Vast beer selection too - drafts and cans/bottles. Always seems to be a good truck on site and I love that they have free bottled water and popcorn at the ready for customers. Love the relaxed, tiki bar vibes. It's my happy place! read more

I have really enjoyed my few visits to Pelican to Mars. I was really happy when they finally opened. The concept came to life - a yard-like atmosphere, like you're sitting in your backyard. The bar offers some inside seating, but the majority is on some turf outside. There are tents, yard chairs, small tables, and indoor tvs. I hear they will also put a large screen up for games and things. There's usually some sort of local food for sale too. The beer selection is pretty good, and the friends I was with who ordered cocktails said they were delicious. There are all sorts of patrons - I have seen lots of neighbors of the bar there, runners, cyclists, after-work guests, and just your average person. And it's pet-friendly. It's nice that everyone can enjoy their time there. They even opened early to put the Tour de France on, and I believe did the same for some soccer games. I understand they have some plans for additional improvements if permits and some squabbels allow (can't we all just work together?) and I look forward to seeing this little gem grow and improve. PTM is a quirky and unique neighborhood bar that has worked hard to establish itself as a Midcity social hub. Though there's been some staffing churn as of late, the bartenders are friendly and conversational, and they value return customers and the word-of-mouth traffic they bring. Drinks are priced on par with other bars in the area, and the happy hour is a great value. They seem to periodically overhaul the menu offerings, but they build it like a tiki bar had a baby with a dive bar, and I mean that in the best way possible. There's at least one food truck / popup option pretty much every day, from sandwiches to sushi rolls - I genuinely enjoy stopping in for dinner. Weekly events range from free yoga classes to book clubs to trivia and open mic night, and they really do it up for seasonal traditions like Oktoberfest, Christmas, and even Lunar New Year. Because of this, the bar attracts all kinds of people, which is something I can't say about every spot in town. There are a few unique seating options depending on your mood and your company - you can sit indoors in the bar area, in an adjacent lounge that looks like it's straight out of your grandpa's 60s bachelor pad, under the enormous outdoor tent, or in a lawn chair beneath the open sky. I was thrilled when PTM opened, and it's been really cool to see it evolving over the past few years into a place for the whole community. read more

Great environment and very cool atmosphere. Sadly the bartenders charge more for draft beer than what's on the board/online. Was charged $9 by one and $8 by another for a canebrake which on the board and online it states being $6. One told me "that's the happy hour price" which had me look into it further. When debated the second time, folded and gave me the beer for $6. Be weary of the draft beer prices and don't back down for false advertising. Also happened with a paradise park which is advertised for $6 but was charged $7.5 and no I didn't get an imperial pint. read more

Honestly, love it! I've been coming here fairly regularly for about a month and it's always been a blast!! Great drinks and amazing service. They have had a lot of good food pop up's and fun activities in the outdoor space. I've been to movie nights, karaoke, and an Asian night, to name a few. And if you love sports, there's always tons of games on. Today, I saw Candice working hard behind the bar. She stayed busy greeting customers and in the down time stocking the fridge with beers. I was really impressed with her work ethic! I don't think she stopped moving the whole time I was there. Can't recommend this place enough!! You won't regret it read more

I live in Mid City and was excited to check this place out, but I struggle to think of a worse bar experience. I bought a round for myself and a couple of friends and for starters, one of my friends ordered a highball and there was zero alcohol in it. It was literally just bubbly water. It was also completely clear which made no sense for a whiskey-based cocktail. I said something to the bartender and she gaslit me and insisted that was correct. And this was a $12 cocktail. In total, I ordered that cocktail, one beer, and one diet coke, but somehow my bill was $37! I've never felt so blatantly ripped off in my life. On top of that, both bartenders were irritable and seemed like they didn't want to be there and the general vibe of the place was bad. I definitely won't be returning and if you're looking for a place to go, I recommend going to one of the several other bars down the street instead. read more
