Ray is very well organized and his communication is fast, like within an hour or two of emailing him. Our wedding reception was indoors at the Tacoma Museum of Glass and he provided music for the dinner and reception along with dance lighting to make for a great ambiance. DJ Ray will ask you what songs you would like to hear and when. For instance, we provided him a list of songs that we wanted to hear at dinner and during the reception. We didn't have enough songs to fill the entire evening, so he filled in the gaps with plenty of songs that fit the genre and mood. He even was able to obtain our first dance song, which wasn't originally available on his list on his website. He is very good at reading the vibe in the room transitioning from one song to the next. He provided wireless mics for toasts and some MC services as we transitioned between dinner, speeches, and dancing. If you are looking for a DJ that can play the songs you want to hear, fill in the gaps with music that is appropriate for your evening, then I highly recommend DJ Ray. He let me know what time it was and asked me if I still wanted to keep to the timeline or push it back a little. Don was great at making announcements to the guests of when to take their seats and then he went table to table and released them to get in line for the buffet dinner. The music he played for dancing was perfect and when the music cut off at the end of the night we had many guests voice how bummed they were the party was over. We received more guest comments about how great the DJ was than any other aspect of our wedding. In the planning process he was relaxed and prepared, needed very little of us, but was also willing to take whatever instruction we asked for, and was a calming, confident presence on our wedding day. We hit him with a somewhat last minute, very strange request to sample lines from our favorite SNL skit and work them into the dancefloor music, assuming he would think we were crazy, but he enthusiastically had the audio pulled within days and went above and beyond mixing a custom song for us with the SNL audio. A week before the wedding we asked for a disco ball and he found a way to borrow one at no extra cost to us. He was also a wonderful MC, which was a more significant element of the day than we anticipated. He was so active on the day of, constantly monitoring volume levels, crowd mood and reaction, etc., adjusting volume of the mic on my groom for when he was speaking versus when I was speaking a few feet away from the mic - it was all flawlessly executed.
