For me I would be placing complete trust in the dealer. As we all know, used car dealers usually have a poor reputation but Cupples Car Company is definitely the exception to that rule. Ross Cupples, the owner, is wonderful to deal with. Ross is honest, professional and knowledgeable. You can immediately tell that Ross is a man with integrity who cares about his customers and wants them to be happy. Ross is hands down the best car dealer I have ever dealt with (new or used). Ross is not a high pressure salesman and made the entire buying process enjoyable. Since I was not close by I communicated with Ross mostly through email and, even though I'm sure he was busy with other customers, he would took the time to email me back very promptly and address any questions or concerns I had. Ross was very helpful every step of the way which meant so much to me given my distance from the dealership. I placed my trust in Ross and was not disappointed. Alan the owner and his wife helped us, and we ended up purchasing a relatively low-mileage one owner Camry - exactly the kind of car we had in mind. My husband and I were eyeing more expensive small SUV's, but for our needs ( we are only in the lakes region during the summer so we don't have to deal with NH winters), the Camry was a better fit AND a lot less expensive. Alan said that he'd be happy to sell us the more expensive 4WD SUV's but steered us to the Camry. BTW Alan told us he's been selling cars for 50's. He's awesome. In all the years of buying used cars, I think this car purchase was the quickest most hassle-free car-buying experience we've ever had. Jeff got us a plate for it, suggested we take it up on the bypass, so we could test it at highways speeds. We were very happy with the car and decided to purchase it. The whole process went very smoothly and as the car we planned on trading in, was older with a lot of miles, Jeff suggested we try to sell it on our own. I mention this, because within a week that car sold for 3 times as much as they could offer us. This is normal for older cars going to the auction. We decided to bring the car to our local shop for them to go thru it. They found an issue with the car, that wasn't drivetrain related, hence it wasn't covered by the warranty. When we called Jeff Sr. about it, he asked us to bring the car by and let them check it out. We dropped it off last week and were told they would take care of the issue for us. They called us the next day, saying they had replaced all the parts needed, and we could come get the car. On a side note, our local shops estimate was in the car and on it, they recommended new tires before the winter. The reason I am saying this is because, Jeff Jr, replaced the 2 tires, at no cost to us. This family run business sure went above and beyond and I/we will recommend them to everyone asking about where to buy a preowned vehicle. A+++++

John knows I'm from MA and my retired father who lives in Laconia helped me find a car for my son for Christmas. I thanked him replacing the sensor and asked to have it shipped back to me in MA. John went on a tirade and said "I will absolutely not do that. You bought the car, it's your problem now". How quickly John went from a used car dealer who stands behind his cars to an average used car salesman trying to maximize his profit and screw the customer. I mean c'mon.. *maybe*…read moreI'd give 4 stars for an exceptional experience where I was served fresh sushi as I filled out some paperwork and got a neck massage as I was sitting in finance. But 5 stars? Well, John and his team at Winnisquam sure won me over. Not only did I get a phenomenal deal on the exact car I was looking for, but John, the owner, struck me as a very down to earth, hard-working and honest guy. And in the end, he proved that's exactly who he is. Before my test drive, John was up front about an issue on the car that he was going to address. I appreciated the full disclosure. It ended up taking a bit longer and costing him more money than he'd anticipated. He kept me in the loop and the deal we struck remained the same despite the additional cost he incurred. Michelle, who handled our financing was professional and very helpful. She had everything prepared so when we got there, we were in and out in less than 25 minutes. I don't think I've ever been in and out of a car dealership in less than two hours when buying a car before this. The next time I'm in the market for a used car, Winnisquam will be the first place I look. It was really a pleasure dealing with them and well worth the hour drive from Southern New Hampshire.

Selling a car "as is" doesn't negate that one must have LEGALLY placed an inspection sticker on a…read morecar, or otherwise disclosed that a car failed what would've been a legitimate inspection by about 20 distinct points. Selling a car with no brake fluid in the reservoir, with leaking break lines, barely 1/32nd of an inch on the brake pads, a frozen caliper, etc - never mind that the tire pressure was inflated above 50 psi. Because they put an inspection sticker on the car, with so many things going on, including the brakes, brake lines, calipers, with multiple engine light codes, I could only suppose that they intended to pass the car inspection with anything other than the purist of intent. If it were 2-3 things, I might have thought that it was just an oversight. To have about 20 different items, shouts of SCIENTOR to me. "As Is" doesn't excuse what appears to have been multiple instances of violations of the Statute of Frauds, along with seemingly violating NH statutes regarding applying a state inspection sticker under what seems to have clearly been false pretenses. Items suspected include: New Hampshire RSA262:16 regarding placing the inspection sticker upon the car whenever it shouldn't have passed a legitimate inspection. Then, there was the placing of 20-day plates on the car, subsequent to what shouldn't have been a passed inspection, which seemingly might also violate New Hampshire RSA 261:56. On top of all of this, is the anxiety from finding out that all four (4) tires were overinflated to 53 psi each. Plus, having discovered that with tires that could've easily had a blowout, that both the front and rear brake pads had BARELY 1/32nd of an inch left, for all four (4) brakes. I offered them a chance to pay me back for all of my out-of-pocket costs, along with a modest amount of money for the anxiety created, due to the blatantly hazardous true condition of the vehicle. In case that would be too much money for them to pay out on such short notice, I offered them the chance to replace the car that I had purchased, with a car that costs about $500 less than what I was requesting/demanding them to pay me for what had transpired. They ignored that as well as the original request/demand for payment. Normally, problems with passing an inspection, one should reasonably go back to the seller of the vehicle. Problem is, they seemingly abused the fact that they were able to apply an inspection sticker to a vehicle that they sold, which later had 3 independent entities verify shouldn't have passed inspection. Whenever I discovered not just a more reasonable number of 2-3, but rather about 20 distinct points that should have caused the car to not have had an inspection sticker applied, I could only assume the following: (1) That the passing inspection was more than just a minor oversight; (2) That the "as is" in conjunction with being a state inspection facility, was seemingly abused in a rather egregious fashion; (3) That with such an egregious example of apparent SCIENTOR, I saw ZERO reason to trust Greenwood Auto to actually do anything towards making repairs on the vehicle that they sold to me. I personally believe that around five (5) items, one can only make the assumption that such behavior was intentional. The vehicle inspection certificate clearly states that the inspection was done with the mechanic ID of: "06GDD" The sticker number is: A-18-0000873490. The inspection type was noted as: "SAFETY & OBD". The station ID was noted as: "00004443". The NH Host Unit was noted as: "NH003771", After my experience with them, I would only desire to purchase or accept as a replacement, a vehicle that had passed a legitimate inspection not on their premises. I sincerely hope to be able to come back on here, noting that they have made good with me, regarding this situation.

My wife and I recently bought a car from Joe. We liked the car talked about price and we agreed on…read morea good and fair price for both parties. Joe told us the credit union they use offered us an interest rate just over 7%. Can't remember exactly but it was less than 8%. It took some work to satisfy the finance company with some proofs of income and whatnot but all was settled and we went back for the car the following week. We thought Joe was a personable guy and liked him but that was to our detriment. We stupidly signed the financing paperwork trusting what he told us was correct. Later when setting up our payments to the finance company we realized the interest rate was not ~7% but 18%!! WTF?!?! If he had told us that or if we actually read the contract (which is our fault entirely) we would have never gone on with the purchase. We feel totally stupid for trusting this guy and are now paying the price. Literally. Read everything you sign. I know that should be obvious but we clearly didn't and it will cost us an extra $2500.
