I experienced a catastrophic failure of the left lower control arm while driving. I had my car towed to Sanborn's that Saturday. When they put it up on the lift, it was determined that the right lower control arm was in nearly the same condition. The parts were not on hand and had to be ordered which took some time and rolled into my vacation out of state. They were very understanding and contacted me after my vacation to make arrangements for me to get my car back. My parents, both deceased now, relied on Sanborn's for all of their vehicle maintenance for over 30 years. As an aside, I'm pretty sure it would have cost me at least double for these repairs at the dealership. read more

Two ears ago I bought a 30 month interstate battery and it went bad around the last week of December and went back to Sanborn`s for a warranty replacement and they just putting me off that they will get a new one for me and never did. Over two months now and they will not and up for the work and parts they put in. I guess they don`t care at all for there long time customer of ten years as I was. Went here first thing in the morning with no appointment scheduled to get an oil change and a blinker replaced and Scott the owner's son took me right before he had a day fully booked with appointments AND it cost me about $25 less then what VIP or Wal Mart would have charged me! Be careful.. Told me I needed breaks& rotors all the way around to pass Insp. Just did brakes year before so I new they lied. Had it towed to mech that did my brakes and they were all good like new being we don't drive much, they had surface rust and driving will take it off. Rust all gone after driving.. never needed brakes. Oh, they wanted 800+$.. Hmmm Now, we have ac trouble.. Did they do something to create that? Use your judgment on that. A quality place with a square deal an definitely the right kind of old school garage. Two days before Christmas my 14 year old minivan had a brake fluid leak over an hour from home. Sanborn's took me right in and within an hour had me out the door at about a hundred bucks. Great price with two guys working on it including one guy doing a drive to the local parts place and road testing it when the new part was in. Showed me the rusty brake hose and gave me a real nice calendar dedicated to their local mascot dog Lucky Junior. This is the way things used to be, which is a rare find and a good thing. If you want a big place with an espresso machine, TV, and a fancy lobby to lull you into a rip-off, don't come here. These are good people with a good ethic. I am grateful to have found them and hope you will consider them. They humbly earned my sincere comment and I believe you will have a similar experience. read more

On a weekend trip to Lake Winnipesaukee, my car started overheating about 6 miles from my destination. Facing a 2-hour drive back to Boston the next day, I needed someone to take a look at my car to fix the problem. While most auto repair places in the area were closed early or weren't open at all on Saturdays, Sanborn's was open until 5pm and, after a quick call to confirm, was able to check out my car. While I had to wait a bit due to other scheduled customers, I was grateful that Scott was able to take a look at my car and diagnose the problem as a busted temperature gauge. Luckily, the auto parts store nearby had a replacement available, an when I came back from grabbing a bite to eat, the car was good to go. Added bonus: way more affordable than getting it fixed in Boston! Made it back fine, with a big thanks to Sanborn's. read more

If I could rate them no stars I would. Told me to fix three things then my car would pass inspection so I did. Called me to tell me I could come pick up my car but it won't have a sticker because the person who did my alignment said it needs ball joints. I call the alignment guy and he says my car was perfect when I was bought in and needed nothing. Also they never said said anything to sandborns about my car needing anything, they even sent me the computer scans of what my car looked like when it was brought to them. It was all green !!!! Sandborns was just trying to scam my husband and I out of moneys because were young and they think we're dumb. Do not go to them for anything they will just try and scam you out of money. Made me spend $400 last week and $500 this week on things me car NEVER needed. read more

Great, fair, helpful and honest people! I wish I could give 10, or even 100 stars ... my family and I were vacationing in NH with our boat ... one of the springs on my trailer broke a few miles away and the good samaritans who stoped to help us with a temporary fix strongly recommended Sanborn's. We had no other leads, so I white knuckled 8 miles to the shop and left our boat/trailer for them to find in the AM. When I called to follow-up in the morning, they explained that they aren't really a trailer shop, but would would see what could be done to help us. Ultimately, they were able to source the needed springs, bolts, etc. for our trailer and had it fixed and better than new within a day. I'm so grateful for their help and for the people who recommended them. I very highly recommend the hard working helpful people at Sanborn's! read more

This is the best service in town, we recently moved here and needed a mechanic. We brought our car to Sanborn's and were blown away by the father and son who went above and beyond to help us. This is an honest family, while there we were invited to go into the shop to talk with them about our car. Ralph showed us the part that he had replaced so we could see the damage. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy and satisfied. If you aren't in any way they will make it right. Good honest people, you don't see that much anymore. I am completely amazed that there are still honest helpful people out there. I am so unbelievably grateful to Sanborns. To make a very long story short. I checked around for pricing, went to Unfranchised Auto in Concord NH, they quoted $500.00 to repair my wheel bearings (I supplied the parts). I dropped off my car and took a cab to work. They called and said both bearings would be $500.00,......I couldn't do it. I paid 45.00 for them "looking at it for a half hour" then took my car to that saint/magical place Sanborns in Laconia. 1st I mentioned I needed brakes as well, the owner Ralph took me to 2 Auto places to buy the brakes and Rotors (NO MARK UP) then DROVE me to work. He said if he couldn't have the car fixed he would drive me to rent a car. Sanborns called me at 4:30, when I got out of work said he fixed my car and no need for a rental. They PICKED ME UP at work and only charged me $260.00 for both wheel bearings, brakes and rotors AND drove me everywhere I needed to go. I am so happy that this guy gave a reasonable price, NO mark up on the parts (which is expected and all auto places do it) and drove me everywhere. I have found my forever long mechanic. I never give ratings but this company I will give rave reviews and cookies......That place is getting a batch of cookies made with respect and appreciation. read more
