I was able to find a cute sweater for 25 dollars. It feels really soft. Many sweaters have the same texture. Some have cute designs like flowers or bears. They have fitting rooms. I just asked the worker for one and he was friendly. They was even free candy. read more

Recently checked out this Ragstock store with my wife. Wanted to check out their selection of shirts and jackets mainly. I found this awesome black and white flame shirt that was one of a kind. Regardless of the small rip, it was something I would regret passing up. Great selection on all other clothing all at fair prices. Changing rooms are clean too! Has gone WAYYY down hill. This used to be one of my favorite mall stores back at their old location. The prices have gone up and the quality down. All the "recycled" clothing is horribly wrinkled and sometimes smells bad. There is very little attention paid to if something is vintage or what the brand is. (Example, shown in picture a faded glory (a Walmart brand) wrinkled 2nd hand flannel selling for $10.) The non-2nd hand clothing is mainly cheap mass produced stuff which kind of goes against the whole "reduce reuse recycle" hippy vibe the store tries to go for. I will give them this, out of the new stuff they have a lot of really interesting novelty party/club/holiday clothing that would be hard to find at such a low price at any other store. (Think glitter, chrome, mesh, sequins, etc) And for the second hand stuff, there's usually a pretty good selection of 90s windbreakers and vintage sweaters. They also have a bin of vintage scarves/bandanas (like silk) which is really neat. I remember at the old location they had a huge selection of vintage cowboy boots (which I understand probably didn't sell super well in Chicago but it was still very cool) To the owners: PLEASE invest in a steamer!!!!! Oh to the memories I have of some of my favorite clothing items from back in the day at Ragstock. Those were the days when it was super hip to shop there, and everything was super vintage. Can I just tell you that I really miss my black velvet Calvin Klein clubbing shorts? They were everything to me! When I was in college, Ragstock was quite possibly the best shop around. You could get really inexpensive name-brand clothing, and I was known for my vintage winter coat collection I acquired from there. I had coats in every color. My hot pink swing coat with the big giant buttons was the best coat ever. Let's just say, that if you were one of the cool kids, you shopped at Ragstock. In response to Maxine W's review, I think she might be on to something. Ragstock has changed. It seems way more commercialized than it used to be, and the quality is meh. In fact, when I was in there recently, it seemed like the real vintage items were on specialty racks, and not the norm like days gone past. The real vintage items were pricey, and the exact opposite of the way it used to be. I did spot some fun, nod-to-the-past, nostalgia t-shirts, but they were reprinted on thin fabric. I don't know, it's just all different now, and it makes me a little sad. You can still find some great denim if you dig for it, and yes, the best collection of ugly holiday sweaters around for your winter party. I always seem to stop in during the colder months, so I'm looking forward to going back when it's spring. Perhaps they will have some great raincoats. But, until then, I'm sad to say I'll have to pass. read more

If you grew up in the 80's and 90's and want to relive your childhood, you will find this really nostalgic. I came here with a friend and we got a kick out of all the styles we found. Like seriously we grew up with these clothes and wanted to wear them so bad. Nowadays, this stuff is coming back on the shelves and uglier than ever, IMO. Oh well! It's fun to see styles you haven't seen in a while and play dress up, or just seriously if you want to add these clothes to your closet than more power to you! Ragstock is pretty much the only store in Woodfield that I visit on a regular basis. By that, I mean the four times a year that I actually go to Woodfield. The collection here leans on the hipster side -- sweaters, sweatshirts, miniskirts, floral-printed dresses, leggings, multi-colored socks, assorted accessories, and funky 80's-inspired clothing. In the back of the store are some solid-colored clothes for layering, vintage clothes and skirts, and clothes for men. Plaid shirts? Patchwork skirts? Comfortable hoodies? Leggings covered with stars and planets? Zebra sunglasses? It's here. And the most surprising find? Used cowboy boots!! My husband and I both came here once to purchase some $30 pairs of used, vintage cowboy boots for line dancing and found exactly what we needed. I send my friends here when they need the same thing. I don't know where else you can find a decent collection of used cowboy boots in the suburbs of Chicago. Oh, and during the holiday season, the place is packed with a crazy collection of [expensive] ugly Christmas sweaters that overflow onto every rack and shelf. The only thing I don't like is how cramped it can be and the high prices on some items. I like Ragstock's collection of ecclectic leggings and vintage shirts, but they're usually priced kind of high for a "thrift store." However, if that's what you need, this is where to get them. For me, I'm cool just coming here for a basic tee or hoodie. Pretty much all of my layering tanks and tees are from Ragstock. At $3, it's a pretty good deal if I'm looking for a specific color or style (v-neck, crew neck, long, short, etc.). I don't know why some things are cheap and others are expensive, but you can take it or leave it. I'm surprised Ragstock is in Woodfield, but I'm happy about it. read more

As opposed to douchebag belief as stated from the previous review, this store is not a "thrift store". Thrift stores are where people dump their unwanted clothes and goods to a store and they are shoved onto a shopping floor. The only similarity between a thrift store and a Ragstock is they both happened to have previously used clothing. While previously stated Douchebag would like to make you think you can go to a thrift store and pick up the same product as you would at Ragstock, you cant. As an avid thrifter I can tell you good VINTAGE clothing in thrift systems is extremely hard to come by. If you want to go sifting through 1000s and 1000s of crap clothes from target and old navy from 5 years ago, go to a thrift store. If you want good quality, hand picked, unique VINTAGE CLOTHING items, go to Ragstock. Dont let some idiot with more than likely boring fashion sense and obviously no sense of vintage trends tell you otherwise. read more

I stopped at Ragstock at the recommendation of several friends, when I asked where I could buy an ugly christmas sweater (after failed attempts at Good Will and the Savers near my house.) Ragstock was (and probably still is) the ugly christmas sweater MECCA. Racks upon racks, spilling out into the mall. Ugly 80's Christmas threw up in there. The selection was massive, everything from sweater vests, to homemade sweaters, sweatshirts with puffy paint, and stuff that was really high quality in its heyday. Some of the resale sweaters were marked $50 or more! I settled on a hideous number with a large christmas tree and several teddy bears. I'm sure it will treat me well over the coming years. You're seriously going to try to pull this off, Ragstock? Woodfield Mall has been trying to go "hip" for quite a while now. It's got an H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie. By you opening up a "thrift store" a few doors down from all this nonsense- you probably think you're pretty hard, don't you? Well, here's the thing. You can't just paint your walls yellow and prop a giant gorilla in front of your little storefront and think everything's going to work out. Because I'm on to you. You and your "mark an already worn shirt up to $18 and see if any idiot will buy it" ways. I'm not going to fall for it, and I hope no one else will either. That shirt- for $18 at Ragstock? You can buy it at the Salvation Army for 50 cents. It's an ugly shirt so you shouldn't get it regardless. But I'm trying to make a point. I was appalled when I walked in here the other day. The staff is predictably stand offish and away in their own world of pretension - this of course is to be expected of every Ragstock one steps into. I'm pretty sure it's in their employee handbook to act aloof - I'm docking a star for that and really, the only reason why I'm not docking more is because again, every Ragstock seems to be staffed with folks of this ilk and it's something to be expected if you're willing to shop in one. Mercy is extended to them for playing arguably the best music you'll find in any of the stores in this whole mall (props for playing No Age at top volume). As for the stock - that's where I'm awarding the stars. I'm not sure if the pricing scheme is somewhat different here, but their vintage items have far lower price tags dthan the Wicker Park and Lakeview locations - we're talking nice solid coloured button downs for 3 to 4 dollars. The dress shirt button downs run to maybe 6 dollars at most. The locations within Chicago proper tout price tags on these items that are easily two to three times more. The layout of the store is also more fun with tons of 80's nostalgia laying around in the form of mint on card Batman and Ninja Turtle toys along with posters of vintage Johnny Depp and other 80's films. Crabby staff aside, if you find yourself at Woodfield Mall, you wouldn't be doing yourself a disservice to stop into this particular branch of the Ragstock franchise for some solid finds. read more

Well its about time somebody had an Ugly Sweater store -- this would literally be the only thing I would buy here, otherwise I would rather go to Goodwill. Things can be quite pricey... Some sweaters can cost up to $75 -- eek -- but we managed to get ours for $21 apiece, which isn't the ideal price knowing its been worn before, but where else can you go shopping with racks and racks and racks of ultimate ugly Christmas sweaters? There were definitely a ton at the store and we had no problem finding some winners. read more

This place is definitely a [not so] hidden gem. They have amazing quality products but for a price that will definitely surprise you! They have their fair share of strange things as well but I like that they could actually accommodate for most peoples taste. I don't really want to promote this place just because I don't ever want it to gain so much popularity that it would stop caring about quality but I do recommend it... We had a great time picking out ugly Christmas sweaters here last week. They had an awesome selection and I applauded them for being smart enough to go buy out all the Goodwill stores and sell the sweaters for a hefty profit. I was jealous that I didn't think of the idea first! I also loved picking through the racks and shelves for all the quirky little things they had lying around - shoes, hats, toys, accessories, and really funky vintage clothes. I don't walk into Woodfield expecting any sort of customer service, so I was not disappointed when no one asked me if I needed a dressing room for the silver stretch pants that I was jokingly suggesting my husband try on. Matt wants to go back for cowboy boots and I'd much rather buy him a cool used pair HERE than shell out for new ones, when I know he'll only wear them around the house with his boxer shorts completing the outfit. ;) read more

Ragstock has good items sometimes, but the staff here are AWFUL! They seem like they're on drugs -no joke. During my latest visit here, i was the only one in line to checkout and there were 3 employees behind the register doing absolutely nothing, expect having a very in-depth conversation about a tv show. When one of the workers noticed me waiting, he did not bother to stop his conversation to assist me. I can live with this, but it's unprofessional. I work in retail too and I would be written up for acting like that. With that being said, this store has men's AND women's clothes so I don't see why it's labeled as "men's fashion"?? The prices here are cheap and understandable. It's a little messy in this store, all the racks are very close together so walking through it is like finding your way around a maze. read more

I had a ribbed tank top that I purchased at a Ragstock located in Oakbrook, IL that I needed to return. I was treated very rudely by sales associate and what I presumed to be a manager at the register in regards to my garment. They told me that it was a clearance item and as such it was final sale. They went on to be obstinate when I asked if I could exchange it for another style going as far as to say I could only exchange it for a different size in the same style which the manager (or sales associate who knows) was quick to state they had none of in stock. They offered no other solutions other than to stare at me blankly and condescendingly until I left the store. After being treated so rudely I left the store and immediately headed to the Oakbrook location where my return was completed without any issues and the sales associate that assisted me was wonderful. I noted that the tank tops were 50% off, but they were not labeled as clearance items as the women I spoke to at the Woodfield location firmly stated. It seems that employees are not well versed in return policies, or how to treat customers for that matter. Aside from that event, the store in general is a bit crowded with overpriced items. The only things really worth getting from Ragstock are the basic tank tops, longsleeves, and shortsleeves but I would stay away from this location as they do not have much of a selection. All staff members can be found congregated around the register and are visibly annoyed when approached for assistance. There are better locations. read more

Ragstock has sadly lost its way. It used to be a favorite stop for me and my friends, filled with all sorts of cool and obscure clothes that were stylish and unique. The vintage clothes selection has shrunk considerably to make way for original/new clothes of noticeably cheap quality. I tried on one of their original jean jackets and it had a texture like paper. Meanwhile prices go up and up. Ragstock just isn't what it used to be. read more

After stopping by their location on Belmont after three years, I wasn't expecting much. They have pretty much the same things; expensive Forever 21-like shirts, funky accessories, and the recycled clothes. They don't have as much of the "vintage" or "recycled" clothes as the Belmont location. I did manage to find an awesome burgundy cashmere cardigan for $8. And the guy who rang me up said "thanks"!! I'd stop by again if I'm ever at the mall, but I wouldn't exactly go out of my way for it. read more

Lots of drug rug drawstring hoodies. Some cheap fanny packs here if youre going to a festival, they only cost 9.99 and come in handy for events as such. Wow. Very extreme review below. Very erm, hipster elitey....Anyways, What this place really is, is a Ragstock kind of 'molded' for Woodfield. It's not the same crappy warehouse environment as in the city with mega cheap steals for clothes, but they still are on the cheaper side, and yeah, it's true, it's not salvation army (they did open a huge one up though in Arlington Heights not too far away if you're offended and want to run there), It's just a deep room, very quiet relatively and not a lot of people shopping in there. The place is well organized and they have a lot more gadgets and odd gift type things (still priced a bit too high for what they really are) than clothes. Rings, novelties, gorilla costumes and that sort of thing. I did find a few shirts I would have LOVED to have bought for cheapie had I been able to find them in my size. Considering everything at Woodfield seems like a million dollars sometimes, it's a nice little break. Stop in, look around, it'll tickle your eyes for a bit if nothing else. My boyfriend had never visited a Ragstock so at least he got a little taste of a bigger entity. read more

I remember going into this store for the first time, I was reluctant because I thought it'd be an uppity, overpriced vintage store. But I'm so glad I did, because now I hit this store every time I'm at Woodfield! I'm not the type of person who is willing/who can afford to pay much for anything, so ugh, I love the reasonably cheap prices soo much. Seems like there's always a sale on top of the already decent prices. I appreciate there's no one pressuring me to buy something; the employees make me feel totally comfortable if I walk out empty-handed after spending loads of time browsing. I recommend this store for its crazy-cheap accessories, definitely (not pristine quality, but for the price, still SUCH a steal). The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the kind of vintage clothing selection they carry isn't my cup of tea (I like '50s stuff, not '90s). So I feel obligated here to note that I do not generally shop here for clothes, and have seen band shirts and such with kinda stiff prices. However, there's always tons of racks of clothes on sale. Other than that, I just have fun going to this store. It's just a nice environment to shop in! Last time I was there, they had my favorite Fall Out Boy album playing that I haven't listened to for years and I got 5 necklaces I genuinely liked for under $6. Seriously, walk in there with $2, even $1 and some cents for taxes, and you'll come out with a piece of jewelry or makeup or something that you like. read more
