Terrible service. I went back hoping to update my 2017 review and well, that didn't go well. I walked in at 1:00P and gave my order however, the cashier didn't enter it and tuned into a conversation taking place behind me. I said hello to get his attention and placed the order again, he scratched his head and tuned back into the conversation behind me... I left and placed my ordered online from my car at 1:10P. The order received text said my order would be ready at 1:40P. I ran an errand and returned at 1:50P. A different cashier from the firsr said the order would be ten (10) minutes. I asked why and he said it takes twenty (20) minutes to make... I questioned the time as I placed the order at 1:10P and he simply said "Yes, it will be ten minutes more." I asked if the order could be canceled and he said it could not... I left. An hour for takeaway is crazy. Best of luck if you try it. read more

I ordered jollof rice with chicken and salad. The chicken was deep fried and slathered with sauce. The jollof rice also had some sauce on it. It was both really good. I'm not sure what happened to the salad though. I was expecting maybe a 1/4 cup of salad in the to-go box but instead, they only put a layer of salad over some rice (maybe 1 tablespoon's worth). I'd give them more stars, but the very next day when I tried to eat the rest of it, the food already went bad. It smelled sour. read more

My wife stays loyal to Rahama--and now I get it. The food hits every time. Bold flavors, generous portions, and that pepper sauce? Serious heat. With Rahama I would stick to getting the basics. Like Peanut butter soup, soup with Fufu, - beans and plantain (which is the best thing here) & why it's a 3 star - Attieke jallof rice. Which is pretty good too. -They also seem to use the same fried chicken in all of their sauces/Attieke and it's most the times added in after cooking and rather not cooked with the sauce. -But the lighter things I mentioned along with some sides and their beverages are great. read more

I had some egusi soup and it was not as good as the last time I came. I could tell it wasn't freshly cooked. On another visit, I had the jollof rice and fish which was delicious. So I'll give this place one of those hit or miss ratings. On another note, their hostess needs training. I walked in to pick up my order and she was cleaning up and reorganizing items while away from the cash register. She saw me and said nothing, so after a few awkward minutes, I greeted her and then she responded. Afterwards, a man comes from the kitchen asking me to confirm my order and then disappears back inside to retrieve it. The same woman then rings me up and asks for a tip before I was even finished with the payment board. Actually, her exact words were "No tip?" and that was extremely rude. I usually tip when I receive decent service and even more-so for picking up or deliveries, but asking for a tip is very uncomfortable for the customer. Tips are optional not forced and/or expected but especially when you could use some training. It has made for lackluster service. Then back to the food -- eating it and realizing it's days old egusi to top things off -- What a bombshell! read more

I went to this restaurant this past weekend as I was craving Nigerian Food. They did not disappoint. I got the egusi soup with goat meat, fufu, kabob and meat pie. The meat pie was not the best but the other items were delicious. I will definitely be trying other items on their menu in the future. read more

When wavering between 3 and 4 stars I give 4... Rahama name is derived from Arabic rahmah which is, according to the owner, translated as mercy (more like ever-forgiving motherly love). Since Rahama Restaurant owner is from a different part of Ghana and had different religious upbringing from (great) Calabash restaurant (also in Alexandria) the comparison between those two Ghana restaurants is not fair. I was in loss because I could not have Ghana's Club beer with my meal in a Muslim faith observed establishment, but that is not a big deal. You order food by ringing the call bell at the counter - which was cute. You pay and in leave the tip in the unsightly box with a slit for a tip. Jollof rice came in the eating contest size but lacked the creamy flavor - it was just a bit spicy and dry - you could not roll a ball with it. Two main reasons that were rated higher then 3 stars are: Goat meat was 5 star - You can see on the crispy skin that it was baked well and the color and taste and softness was perfect + I support small ethnic business. It seems that Rahama has their clientele that is faithful and comes in numbers. I hope they will give a flavor to Alexandria for a very long time. read more

This place is located in a nondescript strip mall, but don't overlook it! I ordered ahead and when I arrived, my food was hot and waiting on me. We ordered a plate of jollof rice and an order of suya. The jollof portion was HUGE and served with a variety of meats (goat (?), chicken, and dried fish), a boiled egg, and a small coleslaw. Only $10! Didn't eat the coleslaw or the egg because it seemed random to me, but I could just be uninformed since I'm not well-versed in west African cuisines. After all these years of living by this place, I decided to check it out! The cuisine is west-african/Ghanaian, but it is 100% HALAL! I ordered directly from Uber Eats and did pick up. It was actually so good the first time I got it... that I ordered 2 more times within the next week and got my family hooked too! * For my first time, I got a peanut butter soup with goat and beef + fufu, meat pies, kabob skewers, and jollof rice with chicken and beef! - The jollof rice is seasoned very well and has great flavor. Tomato-y and meaty. Of the chicken and beef, I liked the beef and the stew/sauce that wasn't too spicy! -For my second and third times, I got jollof rice with double chicken and chicken/goat. SO good, the chicken is so flavorful and crisp despite being in the stew and just ah!! - The peanut butter soup was very strong in flavor in the best way. There were 3 blocks of meat in there. We shredded the meat within the soup to get meat with every bite. The fufu was heavy and plentiful, a first for me, but I'd probably have to revisit fufu. Customer service is lacking. Came here today to order food for takeout. First the women at the front had no sense of urgency. Upon ordering and paying, she rudely asked why I didn't tip her. Perhaps I was going to tip in cash or perhaps I wasn't but get me my food first. Needless to say it was a turn off. I gladly tip but not when you demand it especially if all you did was ring me up. Nice dry rub. (nuts possibly) -Fufu dumpling & Goat Soup--Filling -Dessert: Peanut Brittle Box--Crisp/crunchy not chewy. Stuck to my teeth. I'm not usually a fan of smushy dough balls like tong yuen, but it was a nice change of pace. Allergy Review: My son enjoyed the fried chicken, white rice, and ripest ever soft fried plaintains & fried Yucca(goes well with the spicy red sauce). This chicken normally served with the red sauce, ask them to serve this on the side if your kid doesn't like spicy. Most items are dairy free. A few stews might have nuts. I normally come to this restaurant and receive amazing food and service. I came today and two young men we're working with no sense. We order and wait 20 minutes and they give me a plate of cold food. I returned the dish and and they reheated it and it was still a big cold spot in the bottom. I requested a refund and the cashier was more intent on arguing with me than fixing my food correctly in the first place. In previous visits during the morning I literally was blown away by the fresh food, serving size and quality. Small old looking place that could use some fresh paint and a little more interest to the place to help it stand out more. The dining area needed the tables wiped down from previous customers, however, I always give an establishment a chance. I had the Black-eyed peas w/ Fish & Plaintain. Then I asked for a side of Jollof rice, just because of GREED! Portions are HUGE! Plaintain was perfect and sweet. The fish and beans were very tasty with a hint of spice. You could smell the smell of food that came out of a dish that had been beyond burnt. The meat qlwas tough and flavorful. The fish and egg were ok. Even the cole slaw was not tasty. When you are blessed to dine here, get either the waakye or the peanut butter soup w/ goat, I promise you you won't be disappointed! Awesome Ghanaian food! I had the Jollof Rice and the awaye? Can't remember the spelling now loooool but it had fish and beef with a delicious sauce and rice/beans and spaghetti. This place is best for takeout but they do take a long time to make the food so call ahead would be best. It took 30 mins to make our order! Also, portions are HUGE! One is def enough for two people. I also tried the goat soup and it had a blob of fufu in the middle. It's kinda strange... But good? I still can't decide so you just gotta try it and see. I might be able to rate this place higher. I might be able to rate it lower. I just don't have enough experience with Ghanaian food to differentiate. So my perspective is that of a foodie that is slightly familiar with West African food because I had a Yoruba girlfriend in college. So the food here is very flavorful, very filling and spicy. Id call it exotic comfort food because I can see my family eating this all of the time because it looks similar to some of our dishes, its just way more flavorful and healthier.
