    Fufu with okra soup

Deliciousness overload . Can't wait to get more of this good food. Portions are really good size

Jollof rice with meat (my choice: chicken). They gave me two fried drumsticks covered in sauce. So good!!

I ordered jollof rice with chicken and salad. The chicken was deep fried and slathered with sauce. The jollof rice also had some sauce on it. It was both really good. I'm not sure what happened to the salad though. I was expecting maybe a 1/4 cup of salad in the to-go box but instead, they only put a layer of salad over some rice (maybe 1 tablespoon's worth). I'd give them more stars, but the very next day when I tried to eat the rest of it, the food already went bad. It smelled sour.

The place is dirty and gross. After a terrible experience, I was invited by my coworker and I didn't want to decline the invitation. The bathroom will make you throw up ( see attached pictures ). The restaurant needs a deep cleaning- there is dust in every corner of the restaurant . The floor needs to be mopped.. The staff needs clean outfits- they are dirty. Walking in a flip flop with no socks

With Rahama I would stick to getting the basics. Like Peanut butter soup, soup with Fufu, - beans and plantain (which is the best thing here) & why it's a 3 star - Attieke jallof rice. Which is pretty good too. -They also seem to use the same fried chicken in all of their sauces/Attieke and it's most the times added in after cooking and rather not cooked with the sauce. -But the lighter things I mentioned along with some sides and their beverages are great.

Goat and okra stew with roach

I ordered fufu and goat with okra stew. It was delicious until I noticed a roach in my food. Never coming back again. That was gross.

Jollo Rice with Goat, but found fish in it
    Q. S.

First time ordered a delivery order here, it was super disappointed. I ordered two jollof rice with goat, with different stew. But I received them with same stew. And one of the dish has deep fried fish with bone in it. Also the meat were burnt and super super dry. Sorry, I won't order from here again.

When wavering between 3 and 4 stars I give 4... Rahama name is derived from Arabic rahmah which is, according to the owner, translated as mercy (more like ever-forgiving motherly love). Since Rahama Restaurant owner is from a different part of Ghana and had different religious upbringing from (great) Calabash restaurant (also in Alexandria) the comparison between those two Ghana restaurants is not fair. I was in loss because I could not have Ghana's Club beer with my meal in a Muslim faith observed establishment, but that is not a big deal. You order food by ringing the call bell at the counter - which was cute. You pay and in leave the tip in the unsightly box with a slit for a tip. Jollof rice came in the eating contest size but lacked the creamy flavor - it was just a bit spicy and dry - you could not roll a ball with it. Two main reasons that were rated higher then 3 stars are: Goat meat was 5 star - You can see on the crispy skin that it was baked well and the color and taste and softness was perfect + I support small ethnic business. It seems that Rahama has their clientele that is faithful and comes in numbers. I hope they will give a flavor to Alexandria for a very long time.

On 4/29/2023, my colleague bought me jolof rice with grilled tilapia. There was a ROACH in my foo, he called the restaurant and spoke with a gentleman who said that he was the owner/managet, he was very rude and argumentative.

This place is located in a nondescript strip mall, but don't overlook it! I ordered ahead and when I arrived, my food was hot and waiting on me. We ordered a plate of jollof rice and an order of suya. The jollof portion was HUGE and served with a variety of meats (goat (?), chicken, and dried fish), a boiled egg, and a small coleslaw. Only $10! Didn't eat the coleslaw or the egg because it seemed random to me, but I could just be uninformed since I'm not well-versed in west African cuisines. However, the suya was delicious and the raw onions were the perfect accompaniment. The jollof was also very delicious, though not the best I've ever had.

Jollof rice with chicken only & jollof rice with chicken and goat!

After all these years of living by this place, I decided to check it out! The cuisine is west-african/Ghanaian, but it is 100% HALAL! I ordered directly from Uber Eats and did pick up. It was actually so good the first time I got it... that I ordered 2 more times within the next week and got my family hooked too! * For my first time, I got a peanut butter soup with goat and beef + fufu, meat pies, kabob skewers, and jollof rice with chicken and beef! - The jollof rice is seasoned very well and has great flavor. Tomato-y and meaty. Of the chicken and beef, I liked the beef and the stew/sauce that wasn't too spicy! -For my second and third times, I got jollof rice with double chicken and chicken/goat. SO good, the chicken is so flavorful and crisp despite being in the stew and just ah!! - The peanut butter soup was very strong in flavor in the best way. There were 3 blocks of meat in there. We shredded the meat within the soup to get meat with every bite. The fufu was heavy and plentiful, a first for me, but I'd probably have to revisit fufu. Definitely hooked my family and I as regular customers.

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I did not like the decor, it was a little run down and honestly did not match up to the prices. The service was also disappointing. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Maybe you can ask for the gravy on the side. The food is not bad, but given the physical establishment and the service I wouldn't return.

Our waiter was so charismatic, helpful, and kind. He even turned up the music in our corner of the restaurant upon request! The food was generally good, just a bit on the drier end. Even the stew wasn't really soupy. So if you were trying to mix some rice with some stew, you basically got cake on your plate. Regardless, everything was seasoned to absolute perfection. Also, don't know if this matters but it may matter to some- though this is an East African Restaurant, the menu is slightly more Kenyan than Ugandan. Something to keep in your expectations when visiting!

I'm not familiar with Eritrean food and I was quite impressed. *Breakfast Balance: This whole thing is very comforting. Comes with a side of small baguette which was really tasty. *Qulwa Lamb: This is a really nice tomato-based lamb stew that is not too salty or greasy, it's just right. It normally comes with side of injera - we asked them to substitute with white rice which they were happy to do. There's also salad included. The vibes here are chill, portion sizes generous, flavors are really balanced. I'm super impressed. I didn't realize where the restaurant was located beforehand, so I was a little surprised when I arrived. It's in a very urban area, which may or may not matter depending on your comfort level. There was a decent amount of seating inside if you choose to dine in. The restaurant was okay in terms of cleanliness, but personally, I'd opt for takeout. I originally planned to eat inside but changed my mind once I got there. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn't the best. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and when I received my order, the takeout container wasn't fully closed and was placed halfway into the bag. I'm not sure if it was just an oversight, but it didn't leave the best first impression. Now, the food, that's where they won me over. Everything was well-seasoned, and the suya had just the right amount of spice. They were out of the vegetable I originally wanted, but I'm actually glad I tried the corn because it was absolutely delicious. And that suya butter sauce? It was the star of the meal! Overall, while the location and customer service weren't my favorite, the food was flavorful enough that I'd come back if I were in the area and craving suya.
