No one even came out to take our order. Then the worker came outside to offer to take our order after we stood at the front for almost 10 minutes. We left and found food somewhere else. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND UNDER COOKED BLOODY CHICKEN - FOR THE PRICE! I was excited about trying the cuisine, so I ordered online a few signature dishes. The cost was around 140 dollars for 4 dishes and some meat pies. The cost was not an issue until we opened the bags to partake in the food. The first thing we tried were the meat pies, that they seemed to just toss in a plastic bag (see photos attached). Terrible presentation, but the pies were tasty. The second dish we tried was the JERK CHICKEN - as soon as you cut into the meat - it squirted a mixture of blood and spices! (see photos attached). The third dish we tried was the (2) orders of OXTAILS - they were delicious, however for the price point to get 3 small pieces of oxtail was disappointing. Finally we tried the BANKU with Tilapia - very good, the fish was cooked thru and the spices and veggies were on point. The sides on all the dishes were nicely seasoned and delicious-plantains, coleslaw, rice and peas and joloff rice. The other blaring issue is customer service and decent communication. I ordered this meal thru the online tool, who notified me when to pickup the food - 3:09 pm was the time, I was there at 3:10 pm. I did not get my order until 3:45 pm! I watched as two customers who clearly ordered after me receive their orders. Of course I inquired when I entered the establishment and the owner assured me just a few minutes- they cook the fish to order. No problem, I want my food freshly prepared. So 30 minutes in I approach again, mind you I have not left the establishment, and was told they had burned the fish and needed to prepare it again. Why not communicate to your customers that there was a problem- instead of having me sit there not knowing what the heck is going on!?!? Now you must be asking yourself - after about an hour and a half from order to pickup- why was the JERK CHICKEN a bloody mess? Especially since you had more time to prepare everything!! TERRIBLE Service! Food under cooked and price points don't match food quantity or quality! (clearly, I am not the first customer with this issue). Please DO BETTER - it is nice to see after 15 years of residency in this area this genre of culture and cuisine, but the way you're going will cause you to be closed down. read more

The egusi soup was amazing!!! I've been to many African restaurants and left disappointed. I originally ordered one bowl to go, took a little sample upon puckup and ended up eating the whole thing then and there. I ordered two more bowls because it was probably the second best egusi I've had. I'm grateful for this find. As far as my experience, the staff was very nice and helpful. I stopped by here while passing thru on the drive home because I was having a serious craving for egusi and fufu. This place popped up on yelp with amazing reviews, so I gave it a go. It's located in a sketchy looking shopping center, but some of the best food places are holes in the wall. The inside was fairly clean, although the place was empty. I couldn't decide between the jerk chicken or egusi (which is not even on the menu to my recollection). Since the gentleman working was not of any assistance in deciding, I went with my craving, the egusi. After another 1.5hr drive, I was finally able to open the meal. First, it was packaged very well to prevent leaking of the egusi! Upon first sight, my joy turned into pain because I realized there was meat all thru the egusi. Since it was not on the menu and I was moving fast, I forgot to inquire if it was vegetarian egusi or traditional. I tried calling the establishment several times and no answer of the phone. This is poor customer service and I had to take points for that. Had I been able to get clarification on the exact meat used, I may have been able to salvage it or at least let a friend have it, but since they didn't bother to answer the call, in the trash $17 went. The fufu was a little runny at first, but meh, I didn't get to eat it anyway. The spot I normally go to only has the vegetarian egusi and since I am not a regular, I honestly didn't think to inquire about meat inside of the egusi-Lesson learned. Another downside is that they don't have side options. You either order a complete meal ($15+) or nothing, which is a bad business model imo because people want to try dishes before committing fully. I think Stafford needed this restaurant. The owners are very nice and they interact with every customer. The nationality is Ghanaian and they make the food true to their culture. I have tried three dishes for far, and they were all good. The jerk chicken wasn't spicy, and I didn't feel had much flavor. The people at the table behind me had it as well and they loved it. It is dependent on taste buds. The okra soup was sooooo good and it was a large portion I couldn't finish it. The egusi soup was amazing as well. We went on a Friday for lunch and we're promptly served within a reasonable time. We had the D7 and D9 on the menu, which was absolutely delightful. The perfect blend of spices and a ton of food for the price! I could only eat half of the plate before I asked for a Togo box. The plantains and chicken was cooked to perfection. We drove 1 hr to try the food and it was so worth the trip. We had the coconut rice with chicken and egusi spinach and okra soup. Everything was nice and hot seasoned so well.
