My husband purchased my engagement ring from Rahl's as well as we got our wedding bands there. They designed and made a pendant for me from diamonds that I already had (hard to see the detail from the photo) and my mother-in-law had them designed and make a ring from a bunch of loose diamonds that turned out stunning! My husband also has purchased many necklaces and earrings throughout the years for presents for his mother and me and every single one is a "WIN". We have also have all our old rings resized and repaired with them and all look better than ever! They are a family owned business and treat all of their customers like part of THEIR family! Always nice people to deal with most helpful whenever I brought in pieces to be fixed or serviced

Story time: Back in May, I was searching for an engagement ring as I had a trip to Punta Cana planned with my now fiancé in June where I planned to propose. *spoiler alert, it went well, she said yes* I had searched and searched for something in a unique style that would suite her liking and I finally found ONE that fit the bill at Kay. And one meant, only one - I was told it was the very last that they had as the style was discontinued but I was told that they reserved it for me and it should arrive by the end of the week. Ecstatic, I gave them my down payment and went home to tell my family. To my dismay, I awoke to an email from Kay informing me that my order had been cancelled, as there was an error in their system that made it appear that they had 1 left when in actuality they did not. Morose, I contacted Kay and asked what could be done to remedy the situation; to my shock, they advised me that this was actually a "fortuitous situation" and that I could now find a setting even more to my liking. Perturbed, I looked through over 1,400 options and found nothing like what I had previously picked and when asked if the manager could do anything to assist, I was told "well, we can ask". Defeated and frankly annoyed, I left to ponder my options. Rahl was a jeweller that my mother had worked with, (Hoffman Estates location) and she gave them a brief synopsis of my woes. Enter the super star, nay, the hero of this story, Ryan Gamss. He contacted me and with the photos my mother had provided him, he told me that he could have the ring that I fell in love with, made from scratch, but with a twist: it would be a larger stone, more carats than the original, and it would still be in my price range. Seemed too good to be true but that same week I was sent CAD drawings for the setting and we were off. I was constantly reassured that things were proceeding according to plan and that everything would be ready for the big day - photo updates and true class were conveyed via simple emails and before I knew it, a finished product even better than what I had found was in my hands. We couldn't be happier with how it came out, and my fiancé is still beside herself with how perfect it is. My mother outright said it was the most beautiful ring she had ever seen and while I am her favorite child, I believe that to be the truth. I literally cannot say enough good things so despite my ineptitude, I leave all you good Google people with this: If you need a ring, or any jewellery for that matter, call Rahl and get a hold of Ryan. I requested my engagement ring with European shank to be sized up; it was ready sooner than expected. The shank was not sized properly as it is now rounded instead of square, needs to be cut on sides and bottom, but was just done on bottom. I was charged extra for extra gold to build it up. And it was rhodium plated poorly, can see the yellow bleed through. Not happy and would never go back. read more

Very friendly and knowledgeable service. I had my vintage engagement ring sized there. The ring needed to be larger. They got the right size and enhanced the white gold since the ring is odd. Even though we have not made any large purchases, they treat us like any other customer. My finance has bought me earrings, a necklace and a bracelet from there. All great quality. I have to say the repair to my engagement ring was gorgeous and the price seemed reasonable. It was ready when it was promised. Just wish the staff was a little more engaging when you walk in the door. I guess because I was not spending big money in the store to buy a wedding set and just had a small price fix it job I was not worthy of more than a "hello, how can I help you from behind the counter." I recently purchased an aquamarine birthstone ring at Rahl Jewelers. I was able to pick out the setting and the type of stone on the computer before I ordered it. A week later, I was shown the aquamarine stones and the setting before the ring was completed to make sure they were what I wanted. The ring arrived at the store all sized and with the stones set beautifully in the ring. The entire staff and the owner are extremely accommodating to my wishes. The ring is exactly what I wanted. I fully expected this to be another jewelery shop with attitude...you know the kind. The ones with snobby women who look down at you as soon as you walk in the door. This was totally different. I was greeted with a warm and welcoming "Hi" and from there in they helped me with everything from looking for a watch battery, to gifts for my mom and sister. I think I have found the real deal. I went back just recently for an engagement ring and the help was just perfect. They explained everything in great detail, they didn't mind any question I posed to them and they didn't give the bums rush. In fact while I was there I observed everyone getting the same treatment. Soon I was in the room looking at diamonds under a microscope and the salesgirl was explaining the differences in the stones. I got my price and a beautiful mounting to boot that no one I had been to before ever came close to. I highly recommend this store for anyone looking for anything in the jewelery line. We went here for our wedding bands after a bad experience at Kay Jewelers. Ryan was super helpful and explained all the differences in the metals for my future husband's wedding band - gold vs titanium vs tungsten in terms of durability and scratching and weight. He really knew what he was talking about. And he had a whole box of trial size bands for men - so my fiance got to try on the actual rings and see the fit difference vs those silly little keyrings that are inaccurate. I recently had my gold and platinum wedding band enlarged from a size 10 to a 13. Your employee(s) told me that I could risk the ring fracturing but that their jeweler felt confident that he could do it without damage. Of course he did do it and the ring not only fits perfectly but there is not a hint of damage to it. Super friendly staff, Unique and beautiful settings. I fell in love with a beautiful setting which was perfect for my grandmothers original 2 carat stone. I've been shopping around for a ring and I wont buy anything from the mall. I was disappointed, I walked in knowing what I was looking for but they're the most expensive and arrogant out of the few that I visited in the area. The stones were not great quality, she was trying to sell me a stone for nearly double what I found it for, and if they even get a vibe that you're not ready to buy or you're simply "shopping" It's like you're not even worth their time. I didn't want to write this review, frankly I just want this horrible experience to be behind me but I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. Went to Rahl to have a custom engagment ring made by "so and so". Whom for the record isn't really a designer (he actually has a picture of a hand sketched ring design posted on his office board made to look like he sketched it himself but you can find it on pinterest from a designer named Joseph in Seattle!!!). I had diamonds that were heirlooms of our late grandmothers so it was a very special peice to me. The consultation was longer than expected because HE talked forever. When leaving, I had an unsettling feeling like it wasn't right. A feeling like I had been scammed by someone who has been in the business of scamming people. I asked someone else and they confirmed that they thought he was seriously overcharging me. When we went back to get our diamonds and to tell "so and so" we decided to go to another place because of the prices (really because we didn't like him) HE FLIPPED OUT ON US. He wanted to know who we saw, where they were located and had to state his case and that they ofcourse didn't know what they were talking about and probably wouldn't do a good job. We just wanted to leave. My fiance was livid at him and his tone that unfortunately it ended up getting ugly. If "so and so" would have simply let us go this could all have been avoided. This is just a minor detail of my HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am speechless. We went to another jewler and when we got there she inspected the diamonds that were previously in "so and so's" hands. She noticed my one of MY GRANDMOTHER'S LARGER DIAMOND WAS CHIPPED. This diamond went from his hands being inspected under a microscope with no problem and also showing us under the microscope to going into an envelope to then my hand to give to this jewler. Now I don't know how a diamond would be able to chip during that route between "so and so" and this jewler. I think HE WAS PISSED AT US AND CHIPPED THE DIAMOND OUT OF SPITE. It's the only thing that's logical. It's actually quite obvious. I was upset but I have to look on the bright side... I am done with him. Also it can't be seen unless you look into a microscope. As for now I can only look forward and be grateful I caught on to him before It could have been worse. Also, it's worth mentioning that MY RING IS COSTING $1,400 LESS THAN HIS ESTIMATE and from a praised designer and jeweler in Evanston who specializes in custom rings. "So and so" is a joke...he even tried to charge us labor for the consultation!!! $80 FOR LABOR!!! The labor for what... his mouth that would not shut up and let me have a word! We ended up having to pay $200 for a text messaged image made from a program used in the 80's of a poor version of a designed ring. This buisness SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN for what they did to me. Heirlooms are irreplaceable. They are sweet talkers who play a good game but I have a good sense of smelling liars. Yuck! If the owner isn't a scammer himself then he should really take an honest inventory of his business and then ask himself if it's worth keeping someone like him around. read more

I have told my friends and they too have come and shopped at Rahl jewelers and have all had an enjoyable experience as well. Put simply I would trust no other jeweler. Brad and Nancy are amazing and have always treated me with respect and honesty. Among other staff members Tony,Carolyn,Ryan are all amazing. In fact I can't remember having one poor experience with any of the sales associates at Rahl jewelers at any time. If I may be blunt if you're looking for a sleazy untrustworthy experience go to another jeweler if you're looking for honest trustworthy people that will treat you like family go to Rahl Jewelers.
