Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is unique from almost all other martial arts in that you don't need to strike or kick someone else to protect yourself. For me that means no picking up your kid in the middle of the day from the Principal's office just because he or she had to defend themselves. Also because Jiu Jitsu deals with leverage, it is an ideal martial art for a smaller child to learn how to defend themselves against larger opponents. Beyond this very basic description of why I like Jiu-jitsu for my child, I have to mention that Prof. Scott Singer is an amazing instructor. It's great to see him working with the kids. He has a patient demeanor and you can tell that he really cares. I highly recommend Chatsworth Street Sports.
