Food is delicious comes out fast even when it's crowded. They usually have great bands playing. And the Cover isn't bad either.

The RR House has been a Sinking Spring staple for god knows how long. Well, maybe not that long. But I've been a patron since about 2010 and spent most of my 20s there whoring it up. Now, as I enter my twilight years, I find myself enjoying a more restrained, if not chaste way of life. Gone are the nights of licentious debauchery, and in their place wholesome afternoons filled with peaceful autumn walks on trails covered in auburn leaves. Also stuffing my fat whore mouth with local delicacies, like Jimmy G's Signature Steak Sandwich, made with 8 oz. ribeye, minced garlic, sautéed onions, and two types of cheese. There are times, however, when I hesitate mid-bite and think back to the numerous food safety inspection violations reported earlier in the year. The findings painted a picture of fifth and negligence. But hey, what's a little grime on your burger? Maybe it just adds a little extra "seasoning." My complaints about the food don't stem from lack of flavor, but rather the sloppy haste in which items are thrown together. The Italian I ordered didn't resemble an Italian. It was more along the lines of those pre-made sandwiches you find at gas stations with long overdue best-by dates. The burger I ordered didn't have the basic customizations I had requested (adding lettuce and tomato was too much to ask for?). In the end, the biggest surprise was the French dip. By the looks of it, it shouldn't have been as good as it was. There was hardly any meat, and it was squished and compacted like at first glance looked dryer than the Gobi. Luckily the au jus brought everything to life. The salty broth infused a spark of flavor to each bite and helped me forget about the cheese from Jimmy G's Steak congealing in my veins. If the kitchen can get up to code, it'd give diners a lot more confidence when ordering. Hopefully those old violations have been addressed and new ones haven't been committed. read more

Arrived here this afternoon while my hubby is getting fitted for clubs down the road . What a charming little place with a welcoming vibe! Seated immediately. Bartender Adam immediately took care of us on this 90 degree day with well made drinks. Food arrived before the ice even melted in our drinks! Abundant loaded tots, Very good CHICKEN wrap and I had peel your own shrimp. It was fresh and still warm! So good and service and laid back ambiance was very welcoming. What a gem of Berks County! A great local hangout with fantastic bartenders and bar staff. The menu is not like normal "bar food". The wings are large and perfectly cooked. Get here early because this place is always packed, and parking can be a choir. Be it from a lazy Sunday to a Thursday night. All ages come here. The drinks are pretty cheep, the service is great! The food is pretty good too. Great location to people watch and interact with the locals. There is a really kick ass porch to relax on. I do have to say the Railroad house does earn its name. There seems to be a train going past at least once every half hour. I recommend that you come by and check this place out. read more

According to the bar staff, what I'm about to tell you only occurs on Friday nights... they say it's because of the crowd. Hm. My girlfriends and I come to railroad and are immediately stopped (I can't say greeted because that would require some type of friendliness) by two miserable looking bouncers? Uh... they then proceed to tell me they need to look in my purse. They wand me. Then they physically put their hands on us and patted us down! (This is a sports bar in Sinking Spring!) The one bouncer kept demanding I had something in my pocket, to the point I had to turn my pea coat pocket inside out to prove otherwise... The entire experience was disgusting. Sorry but having that type of security isn't attractive. If you need that type of security, it makes me automatically think the place is unsafe. I will say once I told my bartender about this, he immediately passed the information along to management, and when we left, the bouncers were replaced with other individuals. My advice. I mainly come here for Fridays and Saturdays for the dancing and the drinks. However, last Friday in the freezing 30 degree weather, my friends and I had to wait 30 minutes along with other people before we could get inside. First of all, the place was not crowded. Came here for drinks several times and have had a good time every experience. Depending on the day of the week it gets kind of crowded. They have a nice outdoor porch on a cool summer's night but it gets crowded quickly with all of the smokers. The only downside of this place is that it tends to be frequented by an older crowd than myself (40-50ish and up). Looking for a quick lunch, this was a good selection! We decided to sit inside which there was no waitress in site for at least 10 minutes since they were all outside. However, once we were "found", the waitress was great and on top of everything. We just got the RRH italian and a burger, but for basic sandwiches they were made real well and tasted pretty good. SINGLE WOMEN WHO GO TO THE RAIL ROADHOUSE WILL NOT BE SAFE! I have been going to the RR House for about two years. Newly separated, I enjoyed the laughs and good times with friends there many times. For two years, I considered the Railroad House a neighborhood hang out! A nice place to go and be happy... UNTIL TONIGHT! After an exceptionally hard day, I decided to stop by the RR house to unwind. Alone, I had two drinks. I smoked on the patio alone most of the time. I was approached by an older man who sat down with me. I was actually listening to my own music with my ear phones. Before I knew it, this man's "son " sat down and started bantering with me. I asked them both to leave and the son left. But returned. I tried to dismiss these guys and finish my drink WHEN TROY, THE BARTENDER, JOINED THESE TWO MEN IN MAKING ME FEEL AWFUL! I don't usually speak up for myself but I tried with these three men. Only to be "thrown out" by a tall bald bartender. He said I was "obviously drunk" even though he only served me two drinks. I have never been so appalled by service providers that I considered friends. Good job, Jimmy! Keep supporting the women in your community! Troy obviously wants me to know that you would not care about my opinion. I wonder how many women in your community feel the way I feel? I would hope that even one customer who had a really awful experience at your restaurant, would feel support from your staff, and not rejection and humiliation! Super big burger, but needed fries without the extra charge. My Texas burger was overcooked, despite me specifying "as rare as possible." The BBQ sauce was syrupy and far too rich. Maybe it's because I've grown up and moved far, far away. Or maybe it's because I've come to the realization that when I go home, any bar I go to is going to be like a high school reunion, whether or not I like it. This is typical Berks County nightlife. The most eclectic, random people will be here on a weekend night. My best friends frequent here, as does my mother and her friends. Even my little sister's friends get in on the action. My first experience was walking into a karaoke night, or so I thought. It just happened to be the band performing. Thank goodness they don't charge a cover. Since then I've had some issues with some bartenders not understanding the difference between tonic and club, having to defend myself against the smoker's cloud coming from the deck outside, and standing my ground when those 50+yr olds get drunk and sloppy and try to harass my friends and I. I've been witness to a bouncer throwing someone out for looking at him wrong on a Wednesday night and to the crowds getting a little rowdy on a Saturday. I've heard the food is good - each week night there seems to be a special late night food. Prices are comparable to any bar in the area, but I refuse to pay for shots that aren't served in glass shot glasses though. And those little plastic rinky dink cups don't cut it for me. Can't give it less than three stars because it's a default bar to go to when I visit home, can't give it more than three stars because it doesn't blow me away. "The customer is NOT always right!", "Go to PJ's" Direct quotes from the owner and his equally unpleasant mouthpiece of a manager. This was in response to me asking if the Sixers playoff game (game four) could be put on the tv directly in front of me. Yes, you read that right... it was a simple request to have the channel changed on a TV that nobody else was watching, and i was borderline accosted for the notion. Allow me to set the stage, there were 11 people in the bar. 11. Not 12, not 13, 11. They were all there to watch the Sixers, but only 3 of the 10 TVs had the game on.... my front and center tv? ....Motor Cross commercials. I asked the bartender, Missy, who was pleasant and receptive, if she would mind putting the Sixers on the tv I was watching - as long as nobody else was there to watch motor-cross commercials. She came back to tell me that the manager doesn't allow two consecutive TVs to view the same program. Huh? Wah? Thought for sure It was just a joke... Game 4... Sixers/Miami... Broadcast through the speakers of the bar, but only televised on 3 of the 10 TVs. No, they're serious, my front and center TV is motor-cross commercials, and their rule of thumb is more important than the value of my patronage. As I looked around the EMPTY bar, it became abundantly clear that their success is directly proportionate to their interest in customer service. Zero point zero. Ok, whatever, I'll watch it on another screen. It's worth mentioning they had the game on some old beat projector that I'm sure looks great when the sun rays aren't pouring in, but is otherwise useless. Did I mention there were 11 people in the bar and we are two of them? I told the mouthpiece I understand rules, but asked if she understood it was a playoff game? That's when the owner stepped in and said "if there's a customer who walks in that wants to watch something other than the sixers they can!" Duuude, nobody was walking in, and you have two customers (20% of current base) right in front of you making a simple request. Honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal... to their point we could watch a tv that wasn't in front of us, but come on.... nobody is in here, and nobody is coming in here... we all you got, we all you need. Help me help you. I'm happy you stuck to your guns, but per your request I'll be at PJ's next time I want to enjoy a beer. I'm confident most of your first time customers don't repeat the mistake. I'm also confident you will read this, get heated and instead of learning and growing you will choose to continue down your path of self destruction. The place is a playground for Jon Taffer. 2 Stars because the wings didn't suck and Missy knows what's up. Those other two though... wow. Railroad House is my favorite local spot in Berks County. It is clean, the employees and owners are friendly and go out of their way to ensure a quality experience, and the food is very affordable and consistently delicious! My S/O and I go to RRH at least weekly for my fix of a fresh squeezed Orange Crush (or 3) and the California Cheesesteak Wrap, and for his fix of Bacon Wrapped Scallops and the $3.50 (all day every day) Coronas. The nightlife is also great, although I now prefer a Saturday at RRH (because I'm getting older) as they usually have great bands play and have an indoor/outdoor open floor space. They also have heaters on the deck for the cold seasons, so it's an all-year round enjoyable gig. read more

This place gives me seriously mixed emotions! I like it, I don't like it, I like it, uuuum?!?! Been here a handful of times when friends want to go, definitely not my first pick. Haven't tried the food here so this review is strictly for my bar experience. Can't beat the prices. Had a double gin and tonic and two huge margaritas which were pretty mediocre. With the tip I spent a whopping $23. Deck is a nice hangout during the summer months. I also like the fact that they have bands on Saturday evenings with no cover charge. Here's what I don't care for...anytime I have visited, the bartenders aren't very friendly. And ladies be advised, there are always a lot of pretty girls at this bar but rarely any men that are worth looking at. It's kinda weird. I would prefer if they would make the drink to taste it like a drink. The DJ on the weekends is great! I love that he takes requests (from pretty girls or guys trying to get laid. My son talks me into going here to catch a Sixers game... Game starts at 3:00 - get there at 2:45 and the place is EMPTY... order some beers and ask if they can put on the game.... "the Manager has the key and he will be here shortly" .... at 3:00 I ask the same question.... get the same reply.... except "he will be here in 5 minutes".... 15 minutes later waitress back at the table.... she tells me that he got hung up and just called and will be right there... so I place my food order..... another 15 minutes come and go.... I get up and walk over to the bar and ask the bartender who tells me that they dont put on games at customer request. ARE YOU KIDDING ME - you dont put on an SIXERS GAME on at a local bar???? Canceled my food order, paid for my pitcher and left.... this place seems to draw a lot of negative reviews and pretty much each and every one of them is because the staff is miserable... when you go to a bar the last thing you want is people that dont want to be there surrounding you... go to PJ's instead... happy staff, better food and no DHs on the staff to lie to you about putting on the game... at least now I understand why the place is EMPTY. read more

I really use to love this place, but after several visits it went down hill really bad. Recent visit it took over half an hour for our food. The place was not crowded only seven tables in the bar area. ( have been there on nights when bar was full and took much less time for our dinner to arrive). Spoke to the waitress about my concern waiting over half an hour for food and was expecting maybe a free round of drinks). This has happened before at different establishments and after expressing my concern the waitress volunteered a free round) the owner came over and handed us a lame excuse about what you order takes longer. ( We ordered a crab cake sandwich and a California cheese steak. A table came in after us and ordered for 4 people and got their meals 10 minutes before us ). I thought ok and waited for our food to finally arrive. We needed another round of drinks and you guessed it, one of us got the wrong one and even when the owner came over about the mix up , she did not offer a " we apologize for this it's on the house ". God, what could be more fucking posh than having to drive about a half a mile through a gravel parking lot that is literally packed to capacity with cars, only to park all the way in a slushy ditch at the end right when the train is pounding up the tracks? That's right, this place isn't called Rail Road House just to be cute or inventive. It's literally RIGHT next the tracks. This can be a very, very good or very, very bad thing. So right when I crash into my old pals and am catching up, this train roars by and I can't hear shit--that sucks and it's annoying. However it's always a SUPER plus when you run into your high school crush and sheepishly mutter "hi" (not knowing what else to say because the last time you saw him you were topless, drunk and out of control with bad breath) and the train comes screaming by, deafening everyone and providing a good, polite reason to hurriedly slip off. Oh yeah I forgotZ to mention--ain't nothin' sweeter than those iron-ovaried whores that can brave the sub zero weather and wear spider web tights and minis EVEN when they smoke outside on the unheated patio. On weekends this place screams desperate Berks County singles party and that's why I love it so much. There have been chair fights, dance offs, you name it. People are almost always getting molested on the dance floor to some cheesy wedding reception songs. Of course you also have to love the goofy douche bags that STILL wear Hollister clothes and guido jewelry, acting like they were born a fucking Winklevoss brother. And why is it that all the Dutchie white girls dye their hair Alan Rickman black in the winter? Anybody know? Mad Elf bottles for less than $5. Peel shrimp that haven't caused me to puke/shit my brains out (yet). Decent menu for a "haus," decent beer list. I dig it. Earlier in the evening it is way more enjoyable because 3/4 of the night crowd isn't there and you can actually speak without some Wilson hoe playing Lil' Wayne and screaming in your ear. Worst thing about this place: ONE FUCKING BATHROOM. Yeah. You see the LAKE of cars and then soon realize that you literally have two stalls for about three hundred chicks. Ok so scenario goes as follows. Monday @1pm, 2 girls working 3 tables and 2 bar customers. I ask what style beer is the Evil Genius Santa? Ipa im told NO! Its a Holiday Saison..BIG DIFFERENCE!. Even if u dont drink craft beers, u work at a bar that serves them, know what your serving. We waited over 25 min for an order of shrimp and clams, the one "bartender" finally mentions they had no hot water to cook the seafood in so were waiting for that to boil up. I then ask for a sample of the 2 different Mad Elfs..im told management wont allow it. Guess what your customer service is horrible and there is always an exception to every rule and i think this more than qualifies, we then end with getting charged for 4 beers instead of the 3 we actually ordered. read more
