Ive been around here quite a bit. It is a dive bar which allows smoking. It has a juke box, 2 dart machines and video games of chance along with lottery type "pull-tabs" if your feeling lucky. The food here from what I have eaten and seen is really good. Their chicken tenders were frigin' HUGE. When they offer 3 tacos for $5 the tacos are HUGE. The only food item I didn't care for was their wings. They were good but tasted different in a left over sort of way....I later found out that they bake the wings early on that day and re-cook them to order. Not the best but they do the job. This is the type of bar where the same dozen or so retiree guys can be found faithfully drinking and enjoying themselves every other day and every weekend in the early/late afternoons and early evenings. Theres lots of locals here who are used to meeting here drinking and they're friendly, loud and boisterous about it all in good ways. Everyone here seems to know most everyone here and you if you'd frequent here often. If you get offended easily by smoke and an occasional loud mouth "old timer" this isn't a place for you. Good food, good people and good times can be found here, especially if you love old dive bars. I love the train track suspended, hanging from the ceiling.

She asked if I could get 3 tables for everyone in her family and our friends. Well, a nice young lady took me to a table and explained we needed our whole group before saving a table. Well, I sat down and was told that I couldn't sit there unless I was seated by the young lady at the entrance. I said, I was seated by her. Fast forward, wouldn't let us save the tables for anyone. HOWEVER, 1 tables over, a lady sat down, by herself and held a table for her family. She was there over an hour before her party arrived. Another table, same exact thing. Anyway, I went back in line and asked to be seated where my one friend was. I was told to tell my other 2 friends to move from their tables and sit at the table our one friend had. Mind you, no one else was asked to get back in line or move. A very rude man who i was told was the manager came over to me and belittled me in front of everyone. His name is Tom and his shirt said security. For God's sake, we are all over the age of 60. He made me get back in line for the 3rd time. Never have I been so humiliated. He then , after I was seated again, told the servers not to service our table. A very nice young server, Jaselle, not sure of spelling, came over and said she felt sorry for us and took our order. Finally, someone who respected us. I will not go back there again. I have never been treated like that before. Very rude and combative.

Very open and inviting, although it was a mild temp day and the heat was on, making it a little uncomfortable. The service on the other hand was sadly not good. Our server, Ana seemed like she was a bit intoxicated while my party was there. She was glassy eyed, face flushed, slurring a little and was not focusing or remembering things well. She initially had put in and brought me Brussels sprouts instead of truffle fries. She was speaking to us very awkwardly, and lingering and giving some people in our party weird looks and responses. I'm not sure what all was going on. We enjoyed ourselves and had a great conversation, and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately though, the service was not good at all. We had very long waits for our water at the beginning of the outing, let alone for the drinks we ordered from the bar. One of the beers that was ordered was also very flat.

For dinner, we got the Billionaire Smash (2) 4 ounce local waygu beef patties, truffle aioli, bacon onion jam, smoked cheddar, romaine, tomato, onion, and the Stuffed Gnocchi truffle pesto alfredo sauce. The entire meal with 4 alcoholic beverages was around $100.00. Great price! I wish we lived closer. Forgot to mention our server, she was very nice as well.

My husband and I assessed Austin's differently. He ordered prime rib which he said was nothing short of perfect. Cooked medium rare as requested, tender, juicy -- he savored every bite. I scanned the menu. Nothing jumped out at me. (I generally don't gravitate to steakhouse-type restaurants.) I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs. My point of comparison is Longhorn's which offers more of a bang-for-a-buck, and in my opinion better tasting ribs. Not to say that Austin's aren't good. They are. Based on the popularity of Austin's, it's clear management knows what they're doing. But I think a small salad and baked potato should be available with the price of the entree -- not worth the extra $7 I was going to be charged. The salad is listed as 'field greens,' -- which it's not -- but reading the menu you'll see they mean iceberg and romaine. The salad was good, enhanced by their garlic ranch dressing. We washed down our meals with well-priced drinks: merlot ($8.90) and Blue Moon ($6.90), then splurged on dessert. Austin's flourless double chocolate brownie a la mode is very rich. One order for two adults is plenty. Austin's is aptly described as a family restaurant. A lot of kids. A lot of noise. Service is friendly and on-the-ball. While not my kind of restaurant, if prime rib is your thing -- this could be the place!
