Before heading home and leaving Montgomery, wanted something light and opted to go with some Thai food Didn't really feel up to dining in, but did like the location being inside a portion of the old Union Station building, however decided to do carry out I wanted a classic Pad Thai, but after looking at the menu twice didn't see it on the menu, but the did have something called Pud Thai. Actually had to call to verify that it was the same and come to find out it was before ordering and I chalked it up to maybe that's just what it's called in Montgomery Another surprise is they dont offer spice levels so what they cooked up for me was sort of a bland version of Pad Thai with the typical ingredients but next to no spice which was a let down Overall, it wasn't bad but would recommend other dishes. I ordered the Pud Thai, veggies in brown sauce, and spring rolls and I've never had such bland Thai food in my life. The restaurant looked clean and the staff were pleasant but the food was disappointing. Have I been to Thailand, yes; have I had amazing Thai food outside of Thailand, absolutely! Tried a Thai place within quick driving distance from Maxwell. A little hard to find, but it is indeed within the large stately old train station right next to the tracks. Parking is a little odd. There is a paid parking garage next to the Greyhound bus line, but no validation provided by the Thai resturant. There are some Railroad Thai-specifically labeled parking spots behind the resturant under the large covered platform building, but make sure you park in a labeled Thai parking spot and there are only a handfull of them. The Basil roll was good and fresh, but could have used more Basil in it and it would have been nice if the Tofu had been seasoned. The chicken Pad (Pud) Thai was good, and had a surprising amount of chicken and egg and beansprouts in it (a plus), but it was quite odd to be served alongside white rice. Not something I commonly see done and I eat a LOT of Thai food all across the USA. This must be their 'thing' though and I will say it was welcome because the dish itself was really soupy. Traditionally I see this when insufficient time is taken in the Wok to develop the sauce completely. I ordered the top spice level, extra hot, and it did indeed have spice within it; but native Thai nor experienced Thai-food eaters need concern themselves with it being close to 'too spicy'. Incredibly disappointed at the flavor of the food. Ordered the Tom kha soup and it didn't have the flavorful mellowness of fresh herbs nor did it have the smooth coconut flavor. It tasted like lemon water with bits of chicken. The flavor was not good in any way. The small serving is overpriced for what one gets. It's the size of what one would normally get as a small serving of dip. I love this soup when done correctly. The pad see ew was also bad. The noodles were overcooked it was unpleasant to eat. Good portion sizes. The rolls were fresh and flavorful, as was the stir fry, which had fresh green beans along with peppers and chicken in a well-spiced sauce. The larb was a disappointment, lacking any of the distinct flavors one typically expects...minty, lime, and the kick from the chili rice powder, with some well handed seasoning. The restaurant is small inside but has patio seating. The hostess he was friendly and attentive. The waitress seemed busy. I was not in impressed by the menu. The items are very Americanized. So if you are looking for true Thai cuisine this is not the place for you. The only reason we finished the food is because we were starving from our 13+ hour drive. The pad thai was way too sweet and over cooked. The soft crab was sweet, too. Total was $47 without tip for spring rolls, calamari, pad thai and softshell crab. Great Thai in downtown Montgomery! I LOVE Thai food but finding a good place can honestly be pretty hard but this one meets the mark. I came here as part of a group when visiting Montgomery on a work trip. Our host set up the reservation and had ordered some appetizers for us when we arrived. The interior of the restaurant is pretty cool. It kind of feels like a speakeasy with laid back vibes and nice touches of Thai decor around the place. The appetizers we had (satay, spring rolls, and crab rangoon) were all delicious and fresh. Everyone in our party really enjoyed them. For my entrée I ordered the massaman curry with chicken. The curry was super flavorful and well balanced. The ratio of chicken/veggies/rice to curry sauce was perfect and was a good sized portion.
