Disappointed by unfair and unclear return policy I bought an item here and tried to return it not even 30 minutes later -- it hadn't even left the vicinity. I was told they don't accept returns and that their policy is "stated on the receipt." The issue is, you only get the receipt after you've already paid, which makes that policy completely useless for customers who want to know before buying. There are no signs anywhere at the counter or around the store indicating a no-return policy. When I mentioned that, the staff just said it's on the receipt and that's their rule. They did say I could exchange the item, but when I tried, I found out they won't refund the difference if the new item costs less -- meaning you basically lose money either way. Policies like this should be clearly posted and explained upfront, not hidden after the sale. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and misleading. When I tell you that Levi at Rain Salon and Spa is a magician when it comes to hair, I'm still not doing her skill any justice. I have had my hair done in some of the best Salons in London, UK (where I'm from) and have left thinking "Wow!" I have also been to salons in and around Ontario and Alberta Canada. I did find a great stylist in Ontario and never thought I'd find another stylist in her league. Levi is by FAR the most talented, hair colour specialist and stylist I have ever come across. Her knowledge and passion is second to none. I went in thinking it was impossible to fix my hair, after going to another salon a week prior, who coloured my highlights brown when I wanted my blonde highlights refreshed. I had a black band around the back of my hair and so much brassiness. I'd also asked for 2 inches off my long hair with no bangs and ended up with close to 6 inches off my hair, one side longer than the other and it was a mess, I was devastated. When I showed Levi, she was so professional and told me not to worry, she would fix it. I took a look at her Instagram page at badassblondes_ (note she does all colours not just blonde) and was wowed by the photos. I felt comfortable and excited about my upcoming appointment but still wasn't sure what could be done with my hair. The staff and Ali, the owner are lovely and the salon is clean and a pleasure to be in. Well, after Levi had finished, I left Rain looking and feeling like a movie star. The cut and colour was everything and my hair feels so healthy! You can tell Hair, is not just a job for Levi, it is a calling because she has so much passion for what she does. I can't say enough good things about her! London UK salons may have wowed me in the past but Levi, at Rain Salon and Spa improved on that wow factor by 100% Please if you go anywhere to have your hair done, book with Levi at Rain and I guarantee you, you will feel a million dollars and LOVE your hair. This salon is the worst I've ever been to. Ali the owner botched my hair. I paid $250 CAD for a cut,dye,and style! I got home, and cried. He acts so flamboyant and bullied his staff. I witnessed a staff member crying. I felt so bad for her. He should not even be in business. He has no clue how to do hair! Michelle is great though, but definitely should work for another business ( I wouldn't even call this a salon). The better business bureau should shut this business down. I have never had a service at this salon and spa but a few years ago I noticed that they carried Kerastase hair products which is nice and convenient as I was purchasing it at another salon which was not close to home. First time that I went in to ask about certain shampoo and conditioner, the woman who help me did not seem very familiar with the products and referred me to one product that she said that it was replacing the one I was asking for. The next time I came to buy the products, the woman working seemed more familiar with what I was looking for and asking her about. There was no line up so I was able to pay very quickly. Their machine asked if you would like to provide a tip as most people probably come in for a service. Last time I came in there wasn't many people in the salon either as the staff tended to hang out near the front. I know they have the products in stock here but next time when I'm running low on my shampoo and conditioner I will check online and see if I can find cheaper prices than in here. read more

Went with a group of ladies for a nice Sunday treat.had a pedicure manicure with paraffin wax.also had a massage. Ashley was my aesthetician that day. I really enjoyed a relaxing day. Other people did not rate this Spa well. I was actually really surprised to see previous ratings of this establishment being a two (2) star out of five, five being the best. Two of the four of us have been to a lot of spas and there's also echo the sentiments that it's more of a four star out of five star.I guess it depends on the aesthetician, and the level of business of the day.I think I also met one of the owners, at the front desk seemed really reasonable. Paraffin wax was something I have never done before, and I'm glad I at least tried it.it's $20 for a treatment for both feet and apparently it's supposed to help you reduce dryness.I'm not convinced that it lasted longer than a couple of days at most. However it is nice and warm, which is great for a cold winter day in Edmonton. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I can't even begin to explain how disappointed I am. I wanted to treat my mother in law to a nice day. We went in for a mani pedi. The pedicure is mediocre. The massage chair didn't even work, they never put a top coat on my nails. We have been home for only a couple hours and her toe nails have already chipped. The manicure was awful. They didn't cut either of our cuticles. I wanted a French manicure and the girl painted a few nails then told me they didn't have the right tools to make them even. Why offer a service if you don't have the right stuff. She removed the white but left a bunch underneath my nails. It cost us over $250.00 for this service. I tried a few salons and none were able to get the right haircut for my daughter. Either too short, or the haircut had no sense of style. Today, Evet at Rain Salon, did an incredible cut for her. She took her time to make sure she understood what we are looking for, and that we left happy. We were more than satisfied by her skills and understanding approach. Cant give negative stars. Walked in with gorgeous healthy almost to my butt length hair and left with coarse fried short chin length breakage. After telling me they can go a couple shades lighter to my natural hair colour. Chemically burnt my ear and neck and hair. Clumps and clumps came out while brushing after 20 mins of bleaching and it was like 5 different colours at least, and the owner ali tried to leave it like that and say it was highlights cause he was just that good. We got into a yelling match as I said I was not paying for this and he said he was calling security or I can pay and leave as it was. Idk the name of my stylist so not trying to ruin the reputation of others but ali mixed the bleach in two seperate batches and the left side which was started second was even more fried. But the stylist never brushed my hair before starting the bleaching process, and terrible sectioning, no foils. I cried the whole time and he still made me pay. The lowest he would go is 262. So I paid 262 to cry all day and have my hair fried off. Whatever you do do not go to rain wem. read more

I have to agree with the other reviews. The salon itself is very sleek looking, very attractive. It grips your attention when you walk by. One day I was shopping at West Ed and needed a quick haircut so I stopped in here and wasn't very pleased. The service isn't very good. The people aren't friendly at all. They seem upset that they are going to have to do some work when people walk in. The stylists are OK. They don't do anything to really make you feel comfortable and don't really check every now and then to see if you like what they are doing. Guys cuts are pretty simple and they didn't do a very good job. It looks like a high end hair salon but falls short. read more

My friend and I decided last minute, that we were in dire need of some pampering. We called and booked a massage and pedicure for two! Because it was a late booking we knew it wasn't going to be an out of this world experience, but you know what, it was a really lovely day! This place is right in the middle of West Edmonton Mall so it's crazy walking through the Saturday shoppers into this quiet haven of relaxation. The staff were lovely and attentive, water with fresh cucumber, nice robes and sandals to wear. Plenty of trashy mags in the waiting area for us to gossip over while we waited. The relaxation massage was nice, the room was clean and the massage therapist was very professional. The same girl was giving me a pedicure and she was very sweet let me pick out the color I would like and was quiet during this treatment which allowed my friend and I to chat. My mother and I had pedicures done in the spa for Mother's Day and we had a great time. We each had the signature pedicure which includes the paraffin wax treatment and the whole works. We got in right on time and our staff were great - they knew their stuff and were talkative. Both my mother and I really enjoyed the experience. The only negatives (why I didn't give them a perfect 5) were that it was a little on the pricey side, and they didn't provide flip flops for you. Luckily I brought some dollar store ones just in case. Overall a good experience. I've never been to the salon portion, but I would recommend the spa. read more

When the idea to try a spa came up, initially it really was something I wanted just for my Husband.. He's always working so hard.. Never taking time for himself and his body has really taken a beating for it.. It took a bit of coaxing, but he finally agreed to look into having a nice massage to help with his back pain... He's a tough guy, manly man, the type that would never even consider something like a manicure or a pedicure.. Nope! but imagine my surprise when he had felt so welcomed and comfortable that when we went in, he tried that out too! ( For goodness sakes I almost never see his feet out of socks! ) Needless to say he was impressed, had a really great deep tissue massage and the look on his face, the attention, professionalism the Women at the spa offered him.. Well.. Happy to report that's the first time in a while It seemed like he was really at ease, y'know? relaxed and enjoying himself. Me? I suffer from anxiety so severe that even leaving my home is a struggle.. I'd have never thought I could last longer than a half hour out in public without being straight glued to my husband to help me when I'd start to panic.. Still, he insisted we make it a day for /us/ and so... I bit my lips and followed him in.. Now, to be clear, Suffering from anxiety differs for everyone, but mine can be so bad I'd curl up into a ball and cry..hyperventilate and can barely speak around people I didn't know.. Going to a day spa!?! That's damn near impossible for me, but at Rain... The amount of care, understanding, kindness... The Women and Ali Kassab, the Artistic Director showed me...? They went above and beyond. The Massage was amazing, manicure and pedicure allll about our comfort and absolutely perfect...We really didn't think our experience could get any better than it had and then we met Ali. Ali Kassab, took time to know us.. Know each of us.. He made us feel like he cared, paid close attention to detail, treated us to things beyond what we even paid for.. ( special hair treatments, gifts, free styling if we ever really need or want it! Yes really. ) All because the Man has a love for what he does, for his work /and/ his customers. Now, I'll tell you I left the place in tears.. but for the first time in a long time, I wasn't panicking... I cried because I'd been so overwhelmed by how good it felt to be treated like I mattered, because Ali made me feel as good as he made my hair look and if/when you have him do your's? you'll know exactly what I mean here. This was a very nice looking shop, looked very professional. They got us in very fast but the receptionist was very rude!I came here for a pedicure with my cousin. As we were walking to the pedicure chairs, we noticed children running around and screaming. The lady giving us a pedicure was very nice and apologized for the children's nonsense and told us they were the owners kids. You'd think being the owner you would want your business to look good and want a good experience for you guests. I am surprised at the reviews. I booked last minute with Levi and told her I wanted a WOW haircut that pushed my comfort level. She took the time to look at some photos of cuts/colours I liked and when I walked out of the salon everyone that knew me said WOW, what an amazing cut and colour! (definitely what I wanted) Even my husband who doesn't like short hair said he loves my hair! Ali was cheerful, and checked in with me several times during my service. They brought me water, and not once did I feel out of place in this salon, which is hard not to as a plus sized woman. The other staff was friendly and Fionna, my new esthetician, even fixed a botched eye brow job done at another salon. I won't be going anywhere else! read more

This is a great place to get a haircut or colour or even special spa treatments like the best pedicures and manicured around. The store is so beautiful and well kept clean and smells lovely. Music isn't repetitive and annoying but soft and quiet. There's lots of great hair products you can buy, and the chairs are comfortable to sit on! The hair massage is excellent and the senior hair stylists have been there for over 20 years! I was able to show a picture of the haircut I wanted and got the same one, after having my trust shattered by awful hair stylists in the past, I can finally trust one that spent a long time cutting my hair until everything was perfect and identical! I booked a special pedicure for my mom and I on a Saturday afternoon as a surprise. My mom does not live here and I usually see her once a year, so when I do see her, we like to do a lot of special things together. When we showed up for our appointment's we were told they were running behind and to come back in 10 min. Fair enough, we showed up a bit early, so we wandered around for 10 minutes and then returned to the spa. At this time, they asked us to have a seat; someone then came to take us to the back in preparation of our pedicures. We sat in another waiting room, where they offered us a glass of wine, which we accepted. While we sat there, and sat there....and sat there, the massage therapist stood chatting with us. She was very friendly, and we did enjoy the chat, although I could tell she was just stalling us as to not notice that so much time was passing. I'm not sure if she noticed that I was becoming irritated at this. During our "chat", I learned that she was, in fact, supposed to be doing one of our pedicures. WHAT?? I'm an Esthetician myself and I know you do not have anyone who is not trained perform these services. This is ludicrous, unsafe, and not what we are paying for. We also discovered that we were originally booked to go back-to-back for our pedicures (I specifically requested to be done at the same time), but somehow another other girl had freed up to have us be done at the same time and this is who we were waiting for. Not sure if she was a qualified Esthetician or not. At this point, I looked at my watch to see we had been waiting a half an hour already and they were no where near ready for us. We had no choice but to walk out because our appointments would have run into other plans we had for the day at this point. Therefore, we did not get the pedi's I had planned for my mom. Which, as disappointing as this is, I was grateful once I learned a true Esthetician wasn't performing our service. Be very aware, if you book for spa services here, you run the risk that you do not get someone qualified. A person might not think it is a big deal to have someone who is trained in pedicures because it looks simple, but you'll think again when you can't walk because they had no idea when to stop removing a callous or nipping the cuticles, or worse, they pull out a credo knife. I personally would never have someone untrained. We also will never ever be going to Rain again, nor will I recommend to anyone to take that risk. I had a horribly experience at a previous salon. My girlfriend recommended this salon to me. Needless to say the rest is history cause I now found my go to salon. Staff is amazing and the owner was around making sure everyone was happy. Which I don't see in a lot of salons. Worst hair salon I've ever had the displeasure of using. I came in a while back looking for a quick and simple 1inch hair cut. First off had a snotty receptionist and a rude stylist, secondly it took the stylist longer to WASH my hair then to cut it. It was so pathetic how little she cared and just wanted to get the job done and over with. It took around 2-3 MINUTES to get my hair cut which it should've been around half on hour to an hour which is usual for my hair. I was shocked to hear $50.00 for the absolute worst haircut I've ever received in my life. Save yourself the trouble and displeasure. Avoid Rain Salon & Spa, don't let that flashy exterior fool you, it's garbage. Completely awful. I want to rate this salon a -10/5 it was that awful. read more

This place is just AWFUL. A friend and i were visiting from out of town and we booked massages and pedicures. My friends appt started on time, while my masseuse was 10 mins late. While i sat waiting 3 children were running up and down the hallways and jumping on the chairs :| this was a first for me. I have never been to a spa that even allowed children in, let alone to run around the back of the spa where people are receiving their treatments. Anyways, my masseuse finally came out to get me, brought me in the room and began my massage. She was a little chattier than I prefer but whatever; Turns out the only time she stopped talking to me was to text with one hand while poking me in the back with her other. The texting was confirmed to me when she dropped her iphone on my back.............. The pedicures were good, with the exception of those same children still running around. When i complained at the front about my massage and the kids running around, the receptionist called a manager as no one was in the spa that day, and his response was "offer her 30% off her next service". I"m sorry but why would i ever go back there!? when i asked for money off of my service or lack of service i received that day she said she didn't have authority and couldn't do it. The massage itself was lovely, but the experience less so. The rooms back there are loud and with a group of ladies next door celebrating a birthday even more so. I could here the manager loudly speaking the majority of the time, accompanied with various doors opening and slamming constantly. None of this was terribly conducive to a nice quiet relaxing massage. The girls receiving pedicures loved their service, however, I don't imagine I would be back for a massage or recommend it for a massage. Also when booking the appt i was not informed that they wouldn't have an RMT on staff and you have to request one. Horrible! My husband and I booked ourselves in for spa services over a week ahead of time. My service started 10 minutes late. The esthetician who was doing my manicure and pedicure started off by telling me that they didn't schedule enough time for my services so that she would need to "power thru" to get my services done in time for her next client. Throughout my manicure and pedicure the ethetician made several rude and strange comments to me, which only added to the negative experience. I honestly couldn't wait until it was over! I came here for a pedicure on my birthday as a treat for an introvert. I was seated fast, but it took about 25 minutes for the aestheticican to start the pedicure, by that time the water had gone cold. The pedicure itself was really nice, the aesthetician knew what she was doing, the magazines were mostly from 2015 so it was great to catch up a bit. The only issue was that the pedicure ran late, which meant that when she said "Ok now the polish needs to set for 45 minutes" my heart jumped into my throat. Of course I had dinner plans in 15 minutes. I kind of thought about how much it would suck to walk through the busy mall in paper flip flops, and then walk to my car (I think I had the furthest spot possible) in the parking lot in actual below 30 weather in those paper flip flops.... then drive barefoot in a cold car to make my dinner plans. It was a real conundrum. On one hand you just invested time and more than 2 hours into those shiny hard chicklets she painted on my toes. On the other hand, jamming those toes into my Toms would definitely make them ghetto. And I didn't want to wreck the beautiful job that she did.... so I took the green mile to my car.
