Jeff Kret Kitchen and Bath - Beautiful renovation work done in our upstairs bathroom

After decades of putting off the dreaded move to gut our upstairs bathroom and have it renovated,…read morewe finally broke down and did it. After several estimates on the cost, we chose Kret Kitchen and Bath, on Eureka off of Fort St in Wyandotte. We were very impressed with their showroom and just walking into it gave me great inspiration and choices that helped me put it all together. We live in a two story Colonial which is decorated in the country theme. I wanted that same look as well for the new bathroom. Mike was a great help in making suggestions and bringing ideas to my attention. A pleasant surprise to me as I can surely be a normal female who thinks she has done all her homework on decorating! Mike was outstanding in his communication on the progress being done, any wait time on the choices we made, or just a simple check in to see how we were liking the choices we made, from the very beginning, right to the end of the job, we really appreciated that Mike! The area around the bathroom was prepped with a plastic wall to keep the dust from seeping into the bedrooms, plastic on the stairs and our front entrance foyer, was covered for protection with the outmost respect for our home. The crew lead by James and included Steve, Lyle and many other workers whose names I don't recall. These guys were just the best, polite, cheerful, always answered our questions with great knowledge, always on time, and if they were going to be late never failed to call us. All the choices I selected turned out to be winners and we couldn't be happier!! We highly recommend Kret, they are the real deal, the workers are a real asset, their products are excellent quality. For the choices we went with, the challenges they experienced and at times the hard work they did, the cost of our renovation was well worth it, before calling it a day their mess was always cleaned up, what more could we have asked for!!! After putting this off because of the inconvenience, had I known how easy it was going to be, we would of done it sooner, it's all you fault Kret!! Thank you A+ Bob and Debbie Hohn, Riverview

The owner is very good at communication when he needs to collect payment from you. At no other time…read morewas he able to communicate effectively with us or his contracted workers. We paid $30,000 out of a total $40,000 project to renovate our attic into a primary bedroom suite within less than two months of the project beginning. However, the project remained only about a third complete after 10 months when we requested to end the contract. After we elected to end the project, Giulio, the owner, did not respond but had his lawyer contact us requesting for us to determine the amount of money that he owed us due to not completing the work within the scope of the $30,000 we had paid. We requested an amount based off of quotes from other contractors to finish the project and based off of a clause he wrote into our contract where he would pay us $100 per diem for completing the project after January 31, 2026. He sent us a very rude and angry email response and deleted our contracts after we responded to his lawyer. He once again ignored any attempt at communication after this until we posted reviews explaining what has happened. Since then, we worked with his lawyer for two months to write up an agreement that required the removal of the reviews and a BBB complaint in order to be reimbursed $12,000. However, we all later found out that BBB complaints are not possible to remove. At this point, both the owner and his lawyer have ceased all communication with us and refuse to pay us any money that we have been owed on not one but two legal contracts. We were also advised by the BBB to contact the Michigan Attorney General due to possible infringement on the FTC Consumer Review Fairness Act and have done so. I also strongly advise that anyone considering Transparent Construction for their projects look into court filings against the owner. Maybe some people have had good experiences with him, but I would frankly advise anyone to not risk having the experience that we had where our home has been in disarray for 13 months and where we will likely never receive reimbursement.

Drew Green is the kind of contractor who confidently tells you the wrong information and then…read moreblames you when things go wrong. He repeatedly made things up to justify his own mistakes. His crew was clearly untrained to do the work he sold us, and then he ghosted us after making our bathrooms WORSE than when they began. He said they'd be back "next week" but we haven't heard back from him in over 6 weeks and have to find a replacement contractor now. We wanted to like DA, but the deep carelessness of both Drew & his crew made the whole process miserable. He holds the warranty for our HOA's roof, so he gets a lot of business here and has a lot on the line with his reputation. We hired him for an initial $6k trial project to make sure we worked well together; there was another $12k on the line if he did halfway-reasonable work, yet he completely phoned it in over and over. Short list of specifics: - Drew regularly ignored text messages for weeks and failed to provide basic information that we asked for, even after reminders. - When the crew showed up, they did less than half the work that was on the invoice, then told us they were done with it ALL and left without letting us inspect the attic. They "finished" a scheduled 2-day project after around 4 total hours of work (which would have made the project cost $500/hour/person). I made them come back for the second day of work and they redid nearly everything. - Drew promised 10-14" of cellulose attic insulation, but we ended up getting cheaper fiberglass in hit-or-miss piles as low as 4". - I asked why they blew fiberglass instead of cellulose; he told me the ceilings "couldn't handle cellulose." I asked why he originally promised cellulose in that case; he said he "must have meant fiberglass" and that it's "comparable." But it's not comparable; it's completely different and has numerous downsides that we were specifically trying to avoid. Our HOA manager later confirmed that cellulose was a fine choice and that Drew could have used it. - We wanted to upgrade our rusty old bathroom fans that rattle and make noise, but the new fans he picked off the shelf (without any of our input whatsoever because he couldn't be bothered to ask) are even louder than before. They emit 94 decibels, which is as loud as a lawn mower (and louder than a vacuum cleaner); running these fans for more than 1 hour would literally be a NIOSH violation. - Drew argued that the fans were acceptable and were "in the contract" even though he never even asked us what fans we wanted (and the contract didn't specify a fan). Then after he left, the crew said "wow, it is a loud fan" when they thought we couldn't hear. - We weren't quoted for the cost of the building permit which turned out to be an extra $200+ surprise. His controller Jane was the only good part about the process; she was competent and responsive, so at least we were able to pay them on time for this nightmare.
