As I arrived, I was greeted and sat promptly. The staff kindly offered me water, chocolate and a small pound cake. I waited for about 10-15 minutes, Chen came over to do a consultation for me. He suggested butterfly bangs and a deep purple color based on my face shape and skin tone. I appreciated he took the price list over and told me according to my length, what the charge is going to be for coloring and cut, so I won't be blindsided by the charge. They are offering free hair treatment when you go for coloring now, so I had that and also opted for scalp treatment for extra protection. As Chen was applying the treatment on my hair, I was reading a book. He was so thoughtful that he asked me for my glasses, wrapped the legs with plastic wrap, so I can continue reading without getting my glasses dirty. When it's time to wash the dye, Chen gave one of the best massage hair wash. I've never had one with that deep pressure in Canada, honestly I would just go back for a wash and massage. After it's washed, again Chen was so thoughtful to bring me kleenex and q-tips, which none of the stylists in other salons had done that before. Once finished blow drying, Chen started cutting my hair. He is precise, quick and thorough. I was asking for his advice, and I appreciate how he provides honest opinion. He won't just say yes to whatever my idea is, or just for the sake of earning more money for unnecessary services. With hair treatment, coloring and hair cut, everything was done just under 3 hours. I was very happy with the color, cut, and the service throughout. He even provided me a couple shampoo and hair treatment samples before I go. All of that came down to just under $300 plus tax and gratuity. Very happy with Chen at Air Nova, I will highly recommend friends to go and I will most definitely return.

When I called, I found out that it was very inexpensive for a blowout and ensured I had someone that could deal with thick and a lot of hair. Unfortunately, when I got here, the gal was so nice and kind, but she just didn't know how to manage my hair. Just not as well trained in the way she held or used my brush or hairdyer. Understandably, I have difficult hair to deal with. Takes me a long time to dry my hair. It was a nice try, and less work for me in the end. We ended up with just a straight blowout, no waves. I went back to the hotel and had the bridesmade stylist quick fix it for me. My number one test for any haistylist to start trimming my hair is a blowout. If they can't pass that test, no way scissors are coming near my hair. Not many options around the area, so just ensure you have someone that can work with all kinds of hair here and you may be okay. Moreover, while she was cutting my hair, she let the hair fall onto my hands which could have been avoided. She did not put on the cape for me - she needed me to hand the other side to her instead of putting it on me. The service was terrible and she was indeed incompetent. Furthermore, when I said the haircut looks good, she kept on cutting. I said, "It's good' several times and she was still cutting my hair. Then she asked my sis, who was sitting beside me, "Is she okay?" I did not know why she said that; she was embarrassing me. In addition, she left a lot of the hair on my face after she finished cutting my hair - she only handed me the tissue box when I looked at the mirror and tried to wipe the hair off my face. When I tried to pay, the receptionist showed me a higher price after he knew that I was paying in cash. Why would they charge less if you are paying with credit/debit card? That was not right and he did not explain. Then the receptionist said, "No change? Tips?" after I tipped them. He was insulting. Permanent dye is also being repeatedly pulled through hair that's already been coloured giving it a dry, patchy look. On another visit, I asked for soft fringe bangs using a clear reference photo, but they were cut wet and left choppy and uneven! This is like basic hair technique 101!

What actually happened: -Used it successfully only three times. -Next three visits (during posted hours) the salon was randomly closed. The first 2 times had no notice. The third time, just a sticky note saying "understaffed, appointments only and to call the Sechelt location. -I called asking what was going on and if I could get a refund or extension since I tried numerous times to use my package. It's only for a month so I only have so much time to use it and when the hours on google are posted as OPEN, I should be able to access the beds. Owner Lauralye replied by email, said I was being aggressive on the phone and banned me. Completely false information. I never even raised my voice so this one threw me for a loop. When I kept asking for my money back, she permanently banned me in the same email thread. They offered a partial refund which was never received. I left a 100% factual 1-star Google review with receipts attached they got it removed/hidden. Now they are leaving themselves fake google review. Laughable. When I kept pushing, they threatened me with legal action and accused me of being "aggressive" (I have every email -- I was nothing but polite the entire time). Zero refund, zero apology. So yeah - they have no problem stealing people's hard-earned money, then threatening to sue you if you dare speak up. I cannot believe I have to go through this for ninety-three freaking dollars that they simply decided to keep. I have my receipt, and the entire email chain (including the ban, the legal threats, the fake "aggressive" accusation, and the deleted review). Happy to privately show everything to anyone who messages me. Please think twice before you hand this place any prepaid money - tanning packages, gift cards, whatever. I've now had to file with Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) and my credit card company for a chargeback. Just posting this so nobody else in Gibsons loses almost $100 and then gets threatened for daring to complain. The technician was friendly, but the service I selected did not include all the parts of a manicure, when I asked about it I was informed that the service I chose did not include it, I wasn't offered an upgrade. During filing, I had to point out several areas where the nail had not been completely smoothed out. When I left the salon I noticed that the polish was a bit streaky and thin in some areas. Overall, it was not the pampering spa experience I had looked forward to. It was expensive and I don't think the service matched the price. This is something I had splurged on. The room was painted dark or black and had signs of wear and tear everywhere. The lighting was too bright, and the bed was covered in obviously well-used and worn towels. Music was irritating not relaxing. Next time I will go somewhere else, or wait until I'm in the city where service is better.
